I hope the turbo clears the block :?:
-
haha, turbo looks badass Justin
now get some snap ring pliers and pull that silencer ring out O0
-
Nice work.
-
what welder? I so need to buy a tig this year

Thermal Arc Pro Wave 185.
-
that is a fucking work of art, I wish I had half decent welding skills, Ive only ever welded with an old school lincoln arc welder. :-[
-
looks really good CS, as always
-
I wish I had 1/4 of the welding skeelz. To quote Eric Cartman: "thats big fat Oprah tits".
-
Awesome work as usual Dave!!
-
How tall are those collector pieces and what angle did you cut those at?
-
They start off 3.5 inches. Im not sure on the angle. I will measure it for you. I cut down the collector after welding it all together then weld the inlet flange on. That way I can keep the turbo as high as possible.
-
nice work dave. you need to post up more stuff.
-
are you using Pulse on the Thermal Arc??
-
Looks amazing
Do you clean or polish the welds afterward at all? Almost all my stainless welds come out dark and crusty no matter how much I try to keep the heat down to avoid burning it out...
-
are you using Pulse on the Thermal Arc??
No pulse. Why, does there anywhere on there that looks pulsed?

Nope, that is the end result.

Damn, very nice. Is it touch-start of high-frequency? We had to do some touch start in class since we were getting ready to do stainless tubing and our instructor said that's how a lot of the industrial places do it. Either way, I could never weld stainless for shit.
I guess I'll stick to mild steel manifolds :somb:
-
looks great CS.
Don't worry, just nut swinging like the rest of them in order to try and get somewhat of a hookup on the next manifold purchase. lol

HF start. You can weld stainless if you can TIG other shit. Just keep everything super clean, good gas coverage, don't pull the filler out of the gas inbetween dabs, and from there its just seat time and getting to know your own speed and comfort level.
-
its just seat time and getting to know your own speed and comfort level.
i feel like i slowly improve each time i sit down. when i look at manifolds i built even 2 years ago i am amazed at the improvement. that is the biggest thing, seat time... just like racing, the more you do it, the better you will get.
-
i desperately need more seat time.
and maybe to finish watching those welding with tony videos
nice mani fo sho

i got a 351CW going on my d16a6 this year. looking to hit 130+mph. :noel:
-
i got a 351CW going on my d16a6 this year. looking to hit 130+mph. :noel:
may i ask why?
no point in going 130+mph unless your either;
a: trying to kill yourself/somebody else
b: doing it for 1/4 mile times at the track
-
b: doing it for 1/4 mile times at the track
pretty sure he meant 130mph trap speeds

Thermal Arc Pro Wave 185.
Manifold look sick. I been eyeing the Thermal ARC Pro Wave 185 for a while now.

The reason I asked is because it looks that good!! Well done!
