Fuck you,
I'll present you my next setup. If everything is going well it should be built and running by June 25th.
I'll be using the same setup I actually have in my car, but with a built motor... I'm looking for 250hp. ;)
Car:
Integra 92 2drs
LS head:
Crower spring
Crower turbo cam
Crower valve retainer kit
Crower SS valve
ARP head studs
Bloc:
LS crank
ROSS forged piston 81.5mm 9.5:1 (thanks Doug?)
Eagle Rods (Thank you Xenocron :-X lol)
ACT 12.5lbs Flywheel
Other shits:
ACT Xtreme presure plate and 6 pucks disc ( thank you Chris M)
Ported Skunk2 intake manifold (came with the head when I bought it)
PBTuning TB 74mm (Chris M)
2.5" exhaust
Turbo related stuff:
Ramhorn manifold
Precision Turbo SC34 .63/.60
Tial 38mm WG with 15lbs spring
Ching chong BOV (I need to change it...)
Ebay intercooler and piping made for a 94+ integra...
Tuning:
precision 780cc injectors (thank you hotrex)
Chipped OBD1 PR4
Ostrish 1
eCtune (thanks force update)
Innovate LM-1
Motorola 4bar map sensor (if someone want to trade for 3bar, I'm in!)
255lpm xenocron (ching chong?) I don't know if I'll use it or not. I bought it 5 years ago with 310cc injector (WTF??) and chipping kit.
I don't know if I missed something, there's a lot of shit.
Here are the pics cause you didn't read that stuff anyway...

Seriously, I'm looking for 400hp, but we'll see... I still need crank pulley and flywheel bolt from Chris M that should be shipped by now. I'll send bloc to the machinist to be bored, decked, cleaned, etc. this week or next week and I'm ready to build.

the more LS-T tunes i do, the more i am falling in love with them.

you're like the canadian me except im more full of myself and people can usually tell the difference between me and my girlfriends
-
the more LS-T tunes i do, the more i am falling in love with them.
I use a street tune that I (with dataloggin) made last year and never had problem. LS are stupid proof.
The only concern I have is that hp seems to decrease a lot when the weather is hotter. I tuned it at ~15C (57F) and when it's very hot like 30C (90F), my buttdyno say I loose approx 30hp. Motor seems to need cooler air.
All that to say that turbo LS are cool and don't require master level skills to tune it :)
-
You are just now figuring out that engines like cooler air?
-
You are just now figuring out that engines like cooler air?
What I was trying to say is that I need to play with IAT table cause the car is not tuned for hot air (I tuned it just before winter) and is not running very well when it's very hot.
I didn't just figure out that engine like cooler air. Sorry for my inability to communicate very well what I mean.
-
looking good man :noel:
-
I was mostly giving you shit for being French and Canadian, and slightly serious cause it sounded like that just dawned on you.
-
I think I'm not gonna make it. I'm not sure I can build, install, diagnose why it doesn't start, tune it in 10 days. :?:
I'll get my cyl. head back from my parents house so I can work on it while I can't do anything else.
Block will be send to the machinist hopefully tomorrow....
What should I do if my bottom end is not finished yet? Should I put the built head on my old motor or just set the boost at nog setting and see what happend?
My goal is to beat my father so I need the more power I can :P
I almost didn't sleep because I was only thinking about this motor and alternative solutions...

the more LS-T tunes i do, the more i am falling in love with them.
-
ls is a savage engine mine takes a beating every time I drive it and never one prob. good luck
-
I drive it 500km+/week and I beat the fuck out of it every time I go on the high way and another place where I can speed. It means that I beat it at least 4 times /day, 20 times/week + more in the weekend.
Engine is stock and can take daily abuse with 2x stock power, that's impressive.

It must be cause I'm a tuner extraordinaire. HA
And yet no ripper vids :P
I have only one vid and clutch started to slip badly today so no vid until the new motor is in.
As it is now, it's a bit faster than the video, but clutch can't handle it anymore...

Nothing lasts forever.
Now, DO WORK!!
-
:P
-
I don't know what happened. The only suspect thing is the sparkplug. I need to take a pic of it.
I know you don't like bloc guard, but don't you think it would have help there?
-
Can you get a better picture of the piston faces? Try not to wipe off any carbon coat, but get as much coolant out of there as you can so I can see what's going on.
-
I'll try, but coolant is an excellent carbon remover from what I can see...
-
hot coolant eats carbon, like a nigger eats chicken.
-
That is a work of art. I love the sleeve split. ;D
But seriously when are you going get this problem fixed?
Are going with another block? or sleeving it? :-\
Damn this shit sound contagious, who motor is next to blow/break? :?:
Just remember "if your not breaking part, you are not making any power" ;D (saw that in a turbo mag once.)
So what is your future plan on this?
-
buk can weld that.
-
Future plan are in the first pics of this thread. I already have a motor in pieces beside me. I'm not sleeving it, but at the look of the sleeve that broke, I might at least put a bloc guard :-\
As shown in this pic:

That is a work of art. I love the sleeve split. ;D
I tried my best! I thought is was only a head gasket until I removed the head LOL
I was at WOT near 150km/h when it happened. I had enough speed to enter in a garage near there without a running motor :?:
The smoke was fucking HUGE! Poor cars behind me on the highway lol
-
BTW, for those who don't know, the blown motor is an old stock one, not the "Near future b18a1 build" as the first title said.
The pool has nothing to do with it lol
The motor last 1 year at 10psi, but I think the boost spiked when it blew up...
-
I'd loved to have read the carbon coat, but oh well. There are no signs of detonation on the piston faces. Unless there's appreciable scarring on the skirts I'm going to say the tune was fine if a bit rich, and it looks like she was a minor oil burner. Well, if the tune was off the sleeve is about the last thing that would let go. Sleeves just let go, sometimes, and a block guard doesn't help with anything. :-\
I'd recommend a later B18B block, but IIRC you've already run that other B18A through the machine shop. As long as it doesn't have the decayed/chipped upper liner sheathe like most B18A's I'm sure it's just as good.
-
It must be cause I'm a tuner extraordinaire. HA
I was at WOT near 150km/h when it happened.

I'd recommend a later B18B block, but IIRC you've already run that other B18A through the machine shop. As long as it doesn't have the decayed/chipped upper liner sheathe like most B18A's I'm sure it's just as good.
Block as not been sent to the machine shop yet. I'm not sure to understand what you mean by "upper liner sheathe"
Here is a picture of the block surface (new block):

Your parts should be to you shortly damn customs. Also make sure that manifold is opened up to 68mm to match the throttle body plate size. I always recommend running the spacer since you can use it to match the manifold perfectly plus it has the taper which helps out big time with throttle response.

I forgot about the spacer... I wanted one few month ago but waited until I buy more things from you. How much shipped for the plate?

The aluminum that surrounds the sleeves. Lots of B18A blocks are haggard as fuck in that area. I would think that decay in that area would mean slightly less sleeve support, and less surface for the head gasket to seal.
The new block look pretty decent to me.
EDIT: Fat fingered like a mofo.

buk can weld that.
Exactly, just get him all hopped up on some DXM and he'll work his sandcoon welding magic, it'll be 8x as strong with the blessing of allahu akbar on it.

Nice work :noel: You should really just save some funds and sleeve it.It cost me $1235 CDN to have my B18B sleeved all done with machining to match pistons and return shipping to Canada.

I don't make enough cash for now to sleeve it and I can't wait 1 year with the car in the street with no motor :P
I'll build it with stock sleeve this year and sleeve it next year when I'll finish school and start making enough cash to buy a sleeved block every week ;)
I want this to be done in 2 weeks max.

You should move a thousand or so miles South, and develop a Southern accent. It's been nice the past few days,
-
I'm not sure I want to develop a southern accent.
-
I'm not sure I want to develop a southern accent.
Yeah combination of a French Canadian and a Southern accent would really be confusing for anybody Teg2boo tries to talk too.
Imagine his future job interviews with both of these accents competing to be used.
The only Southern area I can think of where he maybe ok would be in the Central to Southern Louisiana area. Since Cajuns have trouble speaking English, French, or speaking for that matter. ;D
-
Yeah, but Cajuns eat gator so it's OK.

Yes.OBD2 oil pump is the one you want its the same for all B series. The lower timing cover is different though so you will need a 96+ cover to match.
-

Spring/shim is not. You want a VTEC unit, either from a used pump or purchased as such for the extra markup, or you can shim it yourself if you spend five dollars on an oil pressure gauge.
-
So if I buy this one I should be ok right?

Yes all newer B series run the exact same pump no difference between any of them. The cover you can cut to fit or buy a new 96+ B series for like 30-40 bucks.
-
If you want a low mileage obd2 Jdm type r unit I have a box full of them on the cheap of course!
-
Thanks Chris, I'm interested! But before I buy something else from you, I'll take a look if I need other things and ask you everything at the same time lol
I'll let you know tonight!

I agree shipping flat rate to canada isnt that cheap I think it was 26 bucks to ship the last stuff.

I wouldn't use a blast cabinet to debur pistons, personally.
Why the hell are the valve pockets always so goddamn huge on aftermarket pistons?
-
Why the hell are the valve pockets always so goddamn huge on aftermarket pistons?
Oversize valves, fast guide wear in big power (heat) motors causing less than positively located valve faces, then rip off some 800+ whp passes and the valves warp slightly until they cool back down making the situation even worse.
Also, fuck you.

Seems like a lot of wasted real estate for shelf pistons to me. Maybe this is my ignorance, but how many are actually running 1mm over sized valves or more? I can't imagine it is a huge percentage. At the levels that you are talking about, I would think that a customer might be able to afford custom(ish) pistons.
We aren't talking about domestic V8s where .600+" lift and 260+° at 0.050" cams are somewhat common place.
Granted, I have yet to build a Honduh with forged pistons, so I honestly have no clue how tight P2V is on them.
-
I'd say 7% of the engines I've tuned had 1+mm oversize valves. 0.5mm over is fairly common, moreso with the all motor crowd.
-
Smoothed pistons edges.

I redid all four pistons.
Almost finished port and polish on the head.
-
I thought I was almost done with porting, but it's fucking long. I think I loose more time changing tools because they fell apart than porting the head.
Still need to buy 400 grid sand paper to smooth out the exhaust ports and intake bowl. I only had 220, 800 and 1000.
I'm pretty happy with the result tho! I can't do better than that around the valve guide... The rest will be done by hand.

Is this the first head you've ported? I'd have taken the intake divider a bit further - that is, if I had the manual dexterity for porting, which I don't. All in all, doesn't look bad.

Yeah, it's the ported head. PR4Y. I might remove a bit more from the divider later. I had to finish most of the work today cause I'm sending it to the machinist.
Here is the final result on the exhaust side (intake is mostly the same as pictured above I just polished the bowl):

Honestly, for a street car it's going to rip as is. If you really feel like doing more work, or want to port more heads, I'd thin the divider more where it joins the top and especially the bottom of the port. You aren't increasing the crossectional area by doing this but instead are making the entry into the bowls not be such a sudden transition to bottlenecking. This helps the flow increase in speed as it *flows* past the valve on the intake stroke, instead of making the piston on it's downstroke struggle to draw air down the port. Well, it still does that just not as bad.
-
Ok cool! Noted for future build.
I don't think I'm gonna work on this head anymore...
All the parts are at the machinist. ;D
Block bored, decked. Crank micro polished. Everything balanced. Head planned, 3 angle valve job.
All this for 835$ :-X My wallet scream.
-
Got my crank, flywheel and bearing back. I think I'll get the rest tomorrow. The guy looks to know what he is talking about.
The only thing I'm still not sure is block guard. It's funny cause the guy said "You can do 300hp without guard, but 350hp with a guard".
Yeah, but why people still do 400-450hp on stock sleeve then? My goal is 400hp anyway... Block guard will be no help at this power.
This motor already ruined me. I can't invest any more money.
If the balancing is ok, the top of the sleeve is not supposed to move imo...
-
if i were you i would have grabbed a stock 265k b18 from the junkyard and spent the money on tooning and beer since there is a 65% chance of you tunigging this motor into the grave if you try it yourself
-
You know a lot more than me on tuning. It's a known fact.
-
well if sure blown up more motors than you, and my goal is to reach the jd kill zone by 30

Good skeeting material in this thread. Makes me wanna swap a B in my daily! With boost of couse ;)
-
Machinist doesn't seem to agree with me on the block guard.
I'm still confused about it too, but fuck that. We'll see how it goes.
The fact that the block guard limit the coolant flow at the most important place is what turned me off. If the sleeves are hotter they are also weaker. No?

Block guard is not needed. Painting the block :?:
Everyone paint their block... I don't know where you live...
-
stupid americans. i reccomend you paint your block, but so it doesnt look weird, paint your accesory brackets and accesories too. dont forget to get the alternator + bracket painted... a lot of people forget to paint the thermostat housing and it just looks stupid.

Fuck, I was distracted while I was gapping my last ring and there is too much gap.
I did 3.209*0.0065= 0.021
and now it is at 0.027 which give a 0.0084 multiplicator. That's 0.006 more gap :-\
How fucked I'm I ? ???
Why shit like this always happen at the very last thing to do...
-
It won't matter. If it's the top ring it really won't matter.
-
I forgot to add this info, it's the second ring.
-
If 0.006 doesn't matter, how much is too much?
-
Bought an aluminum half size rad on ebay. Like that, I'll have plenty of space for the wastegate.

Pistons are in, oil pump cleaned/installed. Interresting fact is that I installed 2 pistons by hand because le tabarnak de ring compressor broke...

sheetmetal + vicegrips = win
Someone else posted a different take on a rhmt ring compressor, I forgot what they used though. The version above I like the most (albeit the pro version, wrench-like handles), as it tends to not slip, and rarely breaks rings.
-
I used a 3" hose clamp before it works if th clamp is 3/4" wide or more. ;D
-
i like to make john west insert the piston/rod assembly into his colon bearing first, then install it by sitting squarely over the center of the bore... he recently installed a set of 89mm pistons like so, but fortunately the 5mm difference did not make him damage my ls install.

Why does my girl friend have a penis and yours dont ???

The block is in the car. Had to put it by hand and alone the fucking car. The hoist was at dad's friend's house and anyway, it was raining and the engine hoist was too big to fit in the garage the way I positioned the car. I had to lift it at least 20 times to be able to put the bolts in the driver side motor mount. Very good exercise for my back.
Tonight I install the transmission and the more other things I can do. Hoping to start it up tonight or tomorrow.
How to remove engine redneck style. It finally felt on the ground pouring collant and oil everywhere...
Should have done it by hand like I installed it.

Kind of update... Clutch doesn't fit, I didn't know there was a difference between 90-91 and 92+ transmission. The shaft is different so I can't use the clutch.
Ordered one from LSD motorsport and should receive it next week.
I forgot to install the dowel pins on the head/block so I need to take the head apart and reinstall everything. The timing belt was installed, valve adjusted, FUCK. Found today that I only had one in good shape and the other one is at the apartment and not in the garage. So far, it's going very bad lol
Good thing today:
Intake manifold ported for the oversized throttle body.

Shut up Scott, I'm trying to sell this clutch :P
Seriously, it won't fit 92-93 Integra cause splines are not the same as 90-91's. I bought a LSD clutch kit that should hold 415lbs of torque so I should be ok.
My dad is a french canadian redneck, no doubt of this. Seriously.
If it's 12pm somewhere in the world, you should be allowed to drink a beer. It might not sound as funny at it is in French, but I know you dad is an alcoholic and says something similar. lol

I've on-again off-again wanted one of those wine fridges. I'm holding off until I'm a couple tax brackets up from where I was two years ago.

Motor is in, tried to start it up, but ran out of time cause I was going to baptism (not sure if it's the right word??) children of my brother.
Since I was a bit hurry, I tried to start it up without reprogramming the basemap (450cc vs 780cc). The car won't start and the fuel pump won't turn off after the click of the main relay. CEL is on and didn't try to see what code it is. I'll give another try tomorrow.
Edit: 780cc, not 680cc..

Shipping to Canada was tits too! Mike lowered the value of the clutch for the customs so I only paid 20$ instead of 90$ :noel:
LSD Motorsports FTW!
Mine is rated at 415ft-lbs. I hope the cable of the clutch won't break over time lol

It might. I go through slave cylinders about every 8-12 months, but the pedal effort really doesn't seem too much harder than stock.

If you want anal, this thread is not for you, sorry :(
What's up with being original anyway, I just want a stock looking fast car, not to be original...
-
Still won't start. I have no spark. I've read somewhere that the coil should have 12v steady on positive side and negative side should be off until I crank it up.
Mine has 12V on negative and positive. I even bought a distributor at the junk yard and still the same problem.
I had spark once when the plug was outside the head, reinstalled the spark plug in the hole, crank it up, no start... Test it again outside and no spark.
What can be the cause of 12V on positive and negative side of the coil?
-
Why would it do that? What have you changed/or fucked up since pulling out the motor..
-

I really don't know seriously. The only thing I changed is injectors... I'm going to the garage later today with a multimeter to see which part(s) doesn't work.
-
The fucker started up :noel:
It looks like the coils were bad (2 bad coils...). Now, the ECU gives a solid cel when I'm using the ostrish, but is fine when I remove the jumper.
I eat and I return back home to get my 240cc to test it.
Timing looks off, but maybe it's just because of the injectors.
-
Turbo installed
Downpipe fabbed
Timing looks ok.
Shift rod fabbed
Just a little oil leak to fix and I'm ready to go. Video and pics to come.
-
Fuck you bitchez it's running, but no boost for now because of the ECU. Anyway, I'm still in break in... O0
The first video is the second startup. I almost got asphyxiated so it's very short.
Built Integra second startup (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqnYFqFBGTw#normal)
This one is longer, but poor quality. I let off the gas cause I heard a bolt falling on the exhaust. I thought is was a downpipe bolt cause it happen to me few months ago, but finally it was a dizzy bolt. I knew it cause the engine shut off on the highway when I got my girlfriend for a ride. The distributor pop out of his hole and only 1 bolt was still there. I guess I forgot to tight those... At least I had vise grip with me. Let me tell you that when the engine shut off I was fucking scared and the first thing I did was look bellow the car to see if oil was falling lol That's a stupid error, but I did more stupid than that in that build...
Integra first pull built motor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahCcChWmIR8#normal)

Whats up with the CEL?
-
I'm not sure if the code is 4 or 14. I really doubt it's 4 (crank sensor) cause the car is running fine.
Code 14 is IACV and the idle jump sometime so I think it's that shit. I really need to fix the ECU, I need boost.
-
The clutch is hard to deal with in parallel parking. It hooks up hard! ;D

Whats left to do? ???
Whats the hold up? Where are the ripper vids?

Whats the hold up? Where are the ripper vids?
I couldn't wait to take a ride with it so the alignment is fucking offset. Wheels are straight, but the tie rod hit my wheel if I turn too much to the left. lol
So I need to fix this. And the computer problem, I'll retry maybe today. It was working 2 weeks ago, I don't understand why it won't now.
I need to put new bolts on the dizzy since 2 are missing.
I'm waiting for boost to make ripper vid. N/A is fucking slow! Can't wait to test this clutch at his full potential
I drive it everyday to the subway station. As said before, no problem with it other than parallel parking being a bitch because of the clutch and worse alignment ever done to a car lol
-
Look at my ghetto fab abilities. Unhooked coupler are wanted, not forgotten.

BEST POWER STEERING BRACKET EVER! Yeah, it's a zip tie and a random bolt with no nut at the other end.

Btw, the power steering bracket is like that because the crank pulley I used is from 94+ integra and it is smaller than the 92 one. It's not even the good belt. Vbelt on flat (??) pulley... Works fine when moving but stopped it's a bit erratic.

Where the fuck have I been? I didn't even know you blew your shit up.. Damn... At least its coming together nicely.

hehe
There's not a lot of contribution from other members in my thread. I guess everything is perfect :mexi:
The clutch feel way better now. Maybe it was just because the clutch was new.
-
I think my Ostrich doesn't work correctly. Tried with a new ECU and still doesn't work...
Maybe it's just the cable tho because I'm able to Get the map from the Ostrich from previous upload.
I think I'm blowing up the turbo seal by not connecting the turbo to the charge pipe, it started to smoke badly yesterday after a long drive. I knew it, but I'm impatient and wanted to drive it.
Maybe it's time for a Demon?

Man your a dumb ass! You should have just thrown your stock header on and rocked it na for a few untill you seated your rings. Or had it all done and then driven it!

You may have done far worse then that, as you most likely over-sped it...

Shakes head. :P

I don't have any headers and don't plan to buy one. Anyway, I notice the ECU wasn't working after everything was installed, I wasn't going to remove everything. I ran without wastegate for about a year, this turbo have seen worse than that lol
Just tried something else with the Ostrich and still not working. I really don't understand what happened 2 weeks ago causing it to not work now....

Are all your pins making contact on your socket? Or do you have a zif installed?
-
Are all your pins making contact on your socket? Or do you have a zif installed?
Yes, it's a zif and the new ECU it's a socket. I pressed firmly on it with both ECU, but without success :-\

All the pins making contact? If you burn the same tune onto a chip does it still fuck up?
-
Sadly I don't have a burner... Anyway it's eCtune and can't burn it.
-
Crome free FTW!!
-
I'll take a look at local electronic store to see if they have a cheap burner
-
www.mcumall.com (http://)
I think they are located in Poutineland.

Thanks JD, but fuck that. I just ordered a Ostrich 2. Don't feel to pay 300$ because I don't make a lot of money right now.
I'm sure it's the cable anyway. I just need to wait a week before I get it :-\
-
I have to be careful, I hooked up the charge pipe minus one coupler that has no clamp and the fucker started to build boost when I was at 2500rpm in 5th gear :?: Only 1 psi, but still...
-
It's really pissing me off. I checked the continuity of each wire on the cable and they are fine. I downgraded the firmware to 10.14 and it's working fine with Crome.
It there something that controls the chip outside of the ECU? Since I have 2 ECU and both are doing the same thing. It might be external to them.
Or I could stop searching and wait for my Ostrich 2 >:(
Btw, it creates a electric noise when I jump the wire to enable the chip. Sounds like it's coming from under the dash. Maybe it's just the solid cel tho...
-
The sound come from the IACV. Doesn't make the sound on stock ECU, but when I jump J1 it makes the sound.
I'm lost.
-
main relay humming? soild cel? drop the dash panel under the wheel and it will stare you in the face take it appart and see if its in good shape
-

If it's the main relay, why it is working fine with stock ECU, but not chipped?

Uh, they sell Willem burners in the $40-60 range, ass nugget.

In fact, the 300$ was related to the burner + Ostrich or Demon cause I'll need a working Ostrich anyway for eCtune.
-
Bleh, I bought one programmer. Anyway, it's always useful.
-
Francis.... FUCK YEAH!!
-
Will receive it Friday. I hope it will help. I want to go at least one time to the track before it's too cold. It's barely 70F these days... At least there's no snow :-X

Lucky mofo, its in the 90s here still
-
Just got the programmer and it looks good so far. I used a map I already had on my last setup and I got no solid cel and car started "fine", but didn't last long (450cc vs 240cc)
I'll burn a stock map to see if everything is fine check with the 780cc after that. Ripper vid comming soon ;)
-
So far so good, the map is working. I've put a cutoff at 4000rpm and it cuts off pretty well (https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.realhomemadeturbo.com%2Fforum%2FSmileys%2Fclassic%2Frolleyes.gif&hash=5805137b67db00abde932177bc58b11cc93be8c2).
-
On my last setup I had a catchcan hooked up on the PCV which had no interior (free flow). It was working well, but now if I unhook the PCV that is connected to the intake manifold vacuum nipple, the motor want to die. I'm blocking the nipple when I do that so there's no vacuum leak.
I don't want it to be plugged cause of boost, obviously
ninja edit: What's up with that?
-
So jump your jumper, un plug you pcv valve, unplug you iacv and set your idle to what you want it to be and then call it a day. A pcv will not work so good on your boosted setup.
-

Yeah, I know it won't work well. I don't think that boost in crankcase is a good idea :P
What I was wondering is why unplug the pcv valve affect how the engine is running. I didn't know that the pressure in the crankcase was affecting how the motor run at idle that much. Tunning with chip only is kinda long process tho, can't wait to get the Ostrich 2.0
The chip programmer works perfectly, I was happily surprised how easy it was to put a bin on a chip. Just need to deal with the offset and it's far to be a big deal.
-
The basetune is ok at best. I'm not sure if my wideband read correctly. I've seen 16 afr at cruise and 10-9afr in boost.
Holy shit it feels good to have boosted car again!!! ;D The car is running only 8/15psi (wastegate) because of the leaks, but still, it's pulling very strong! The turbo spool faster too.
Chips are good for basemap, but without dataloggin and RTP, it's hard to tune...
Idle isn't very good tho, I can't find the good settings to idle correctly. We'll see next week with my good friend Ostrich if I can do better.
-
You've already beaten first start and never, here are the others:
2 weeks -4 (2.9%)
1 month -7 (5%)
6 months -2 (1.4%)
1 year -4 (2.9%)
Based on that statistical distribution, it looks like you have to exceed the one month mark to get any respect around here. DO WORK.

Yeah, 2 weeks is done, but not boosted. I really want to tune it with eCtune, I'm lost in Crome. It's so hard to start the car that thought my bin was fucked. I tried to create a new map for almost 2 hours to finally retry the first map and see that idle and startup fucking sucks. I only had to press a bit on the gas to let it warm up and be steady at ~400rpm...
I also need to recalibrate my wideband, I don't thrust the value it gives me.
-
Small update. I got my Ostrich 2 and it works fine. Feels great at 7psi. Now, I need to fix the boost leaks and turn up the boost
I need to install the 3bar map sensor before tho...
I think it has good potential. Got 5psi before 4000rpm which I'm surprised cause with the old setup I never seen 1psi before 4k an 10psi by 5k.
The motor has 400km now and no problem so far.
-
Good ring seal aka fresh motor usually only helps a small amount with spool, but a large amount with power per psi. If you notice that big of a difference in spool - and your cam timing isn't off - it says good things about the power you will make.
-
Good to know!
I didn't look at the mechanical timing. I set it so it starts and idle without dieing... Actually, I think both cam are off a tooth on the same side. I had to set the distributor position really advanced and noticed the smell (the smell of unburned mix) of a way too retarded timing on the first start.
I'll check this out next weekend, I need to find the damn timing light. For now it runs fine and spark plug looks good so I'm not worried about the timing.
