Has anyone tried the EMS-based method to activate the relay? As in have hondata/neptune/ectune activate the relay at a lower temp than the thermo switch? The helms wire diagram shows the ecu connecting to the circuit between the relay and thermo switch, so I'm not 100% sure if it's an input or if it bypasses (electricly grounds) the thermo switch.

I ask because my b16 beater appears to have a bad thermo switch. Fuse is fine, relay is fine, fan jumps fine, and when A/C is activated, rad fan is off unless I jump the thermo switch. I just thought it was a severly crusted & falling apart radiator, stupid me. Oddly enough in 90* weather, the stocker w/full head manifold shield only overheats (>215F) if the car sits at a light for 2-3 minutes. Right now it has overheat protection and limits to 3k rpm after 215F.

~$35 new. I have a dozen, but that's leaky coolant & stock rats nest of wiring & tubes to change. This is just a few keystrokes into a program.

You never got the memo about fuel efficiency, max power, and oil life pertaining to 180F coolant, did you? Or you just slapped an abortion of an ebay slimfan on there, right?

Tell that to all the tools with the full-width fluidyne rads around here. They have to cover half their rad with a plate or it will never get above 150F. It's even worse if they have the muuuugen cooler t-stat.

A thermostat still bypasses enough to take almost-ambient water into the water jacket area and cool it down too much.




Anyways this shit worked like a charm. Fuck replacing parts when you can use a PC to bypass it. I feel like the Lawnmower Man. And with a macro + keeylay's pc-to-text msg sites, I very well could become him.

unless you are using it for cool down purposes, in parallel with OEM switch.

Also great on a 90F+ day, both fans on, AC kicking ass, coolant sitting at 175-180.

Especially when it works flawlessly, I never understood why someone would go out of their way to wire in a manual switch.
