lol , yea wayyy better. cage fits really good. tucked really close to the body of the car.

 The loop behind the seats are angled slightly back to match the angle of the pannel , so you can't see the cage when you are looking at the car from the side (aside from the 2 bars that go back to the trunk).

All and all the car and cage installed cost me less than $1700 (but i got a hook up). Big thanks to Certified Racing in Garfield NJ!

can you take some pics of how the main hoop braces are welded to the floor?

i was reading the 2010 handbook the other day and it stated on FWD Unibody cars the two support bars needed to be welded to a 1 5/8ths bar that goes from one rocker sill to the other.

Some local guys bought a gutted dash Dodge Colt with the whole caged/slicks/4G63/no dash or heater core treatment.  They ran some dinky tiny heater core out of a scrap pile and a 12V computer case fan with cardboard venting just dumping in the floorboard and it heated the car great.  If the cage cockblocks your ducting/climate control stuff don't worry, you can do something and tuck it up out of the way.

i used to work for Japanese engines out of paterson, nj. Been to almost every well know shop in the tri state. There are really, really few shops that i would trust.

Hey when someone comes to bring you a motor or trans dont make them wait around for hours trying to dick them around, only to piss him off. Then when the person gets in your face all of a suden they come up with the money in a hart beat.

I hate most shops in the tri state/ shop owners/ wanbe tunners.

 trust me , i hear ya!

different interactions with shops have different results.

I did however had to drop the car off on a Wed and they mixed up my appointment with some other dude. So i ended up droping it off the following Sat, and picked it up on my next day off which was a week later ( the next Sat).

 Which was one hell of a turnaround time. I had a few other shops say it was a 2 week wait just to get the car in and 2 weeks for the job to complete.

got the dash notched and installed today.. No heatttttt :-[





All done...

Tomorrow is to clean up the inside, and paint it black. Also paint the hood and front bumper Grey to sorta match the rest of the car.

ehh, i wanted to. But once i started cutting the dash. I had to cut the ducts. So i just said fuck it.!!

This won't be a "street car". More than likely will not be driven on the street for a long enough period to need heat.

 lol, yea i was trying to avoid them. But i was getting things like this every 3-4 months (or every 10 or so passes on slicks)

I felt like i had to switch to Soilid to keep the motor still, and lessen the chance of broken axels ( since i'm still on my old DSS 3.9s).

The best and cheapest way to do it is having a good friend with a machine shop and skills and have them make you a steel mount using your old mounts as a blueprint.

The way I said does weigh a bit more than those solid aluminum mounts but your aluminum mounts will start giving and warping. Its just the nature of aluminum.

Not to argue spike but Rob at TPR showed me some of his aluminum mounts that his hatch turned into chewing gum. Pretty rough shit

I seen them too, but I dont think they were the highest of quality in aluminum. looked like coke can shit... But my inserts are 4030 steel or tool steel...hmm  carnt remember but they work just fine after we cut,rewelded, to position motor for better axle alignment for the twisties. No more binding on drivers side anymore or popped axle boots
