Honda Accord F23A1 powered rock buggy
« on: March 13, 2010, 11:06:37 AM »

http://www.nc4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35756

Pretty cool concoction, I got to drive down middle of the night Wednesday so I could spend the day wiring it.  Started with an OBD2A Accord automatic engine harness and repinned it to OBD2A Civic/Integra (Accord has four ECU plugs, the A plug is part of the underdash harness and the D plug is solely automagic wiring), shortened the harness by about a foot and a half, and interfaced the engine harness with the fuse box and tach.  FYI, F23A1 use the stock ECU to generate the tach signal, but they have the same ignitor as everything else 88-01 distributor EFI so I just popped the dist cap off and ran the missing wire.

I wish I'd gotten to see the thing move, but there were some rear (passenger?) driveshaft issues so we just pushed it outside to test fire it laaaaate as hell at night so it wouldn't disturb the guy's wife, then got carried away revving the hell out of it.  He's a super nice guy so I'm sure his wife took it all in stride, point of fact he reminds me of who and what CSaddict would be if he weren't so short, and angry about it.  What's not to love?

Hopefully he's got the axle situation sorted, he was planning on taking it out for a shakedown run today and it's entered into an event next weekend.

yeah dropping a f23 in my 93 lude was a pain in the ass but the wiring was pretty strait forward. I also converted it to a f22 dizzy for easier install. I couldn't figure why it wouldn't run until I found out that it originally had a external coil and the dizzy got power for it. so  jumped the wires and bango.
It now has a blown head gasket that im taking care of this week and im throwing in some arps. Its boost time.

So there actually is a time when an accord having a cable shift linkage makes life easier. Cool build.

I read the whole thing, good job Joseph in helping him out and following through. Seems like after he heard it fire up it instantly put more motivation in his words/pregress

Now why can't someone do the same thing in a Honda chassis? Maybe not with solid axles tho.

THAT would be tits.
