Block welding with pic's
« on: December 06, 2011, 02:04:00 PM »

So this past weekend a buddy of mine welded up the front drain plug to reinforce it.

Baller welder

The man at work,

Hum im plotting on taking these one of these days

Thats it for now, I think im going to fill the sleeves even if it only helps a hit.

Few questions, 1000'cc injectors, e84, -6 fuel line, and 1 welbro 400 fuel pump, should I have enough fuel to make 700hp?

I been running a stock dizzy with ngk plugs and wires, do I have enough spark to light 700hp worth of e85/ 120 shot?

I welded up the engine bay of my crx, going to make some fender braces, anything else I should do/ weld up while im at it?

not enough fuel on that single pump with e85 and 1000s. Run 2 of those pumps in parallel and probably 1100s or bigger. Whats spikers fuel setup?

Im thinking 500hp off boost then 120 shot (wet) on top of that should put me into the 600 range or split the block

LOL @ Bisi  ;DDD

No, 1000s wont be enough to make 700 or anywhere close. The most Ive seen made with 1000s, about 60psi base, and E85 was 530ish. And thats probably the MOST anyone will ever see out of 1000s (minus ID1000s, and 100psi base).

I saw about 550 with 1200s, 2 walbros (1 inline 1 intank), and 55ish psi base. Injectors were around 85% I believe, and I was revving to 9600. A lot of it is also going to depend on how high you rev that thing, and where in the power band it makes the "700". Or at least thats what my logic is telling me. I had another friend make 530 with the same fuel pump and motor as I, but he only revved to 8k. He was at 65% (he said).

For 700 on E85, youre going to want 1600s or bigger. Just my thoughts.

Plug looks sweet though! That thing is thick as fuck!

Trying to make 500 off boost and 600 with the direct port. In reality only need enough injector to make 500 since the direct port is a wet kit and has its own fuel supply.

Fuck a Y anything. Z6 and A6 or nothing.

And I made 550 on stock ignition, my buddy is running stock ignition with an external blaster coil and made 600. Both on E85 D16s. I have another friend making 800 with stock ignition, but thats a B with C16. But theyre all 88-91 hatches.

I think youll be fine.

That is what I was hoping to hear!

FYI Not all parts age equally.

If you want to go with some large ID injectors, go watch some youtube vids on their spray pattern. The ID2200's are like a garden hose, both in flow and droplet size. Also remember the higher the base pressure, the more pump you need. At 100psi base, you need some serious pump. I'm surprised that people spend so much on 4 injectors vs opting for better atomization with 8 injectors. The extra money is a drop in the bucket for many setups.

This video says that the have a better spray pattern at 100psi base, vs less or 42psi base. I dont know shit about this. So I thought Id post the video for more discussion on this.

Yes, spray pattern improves with pressure, which is why everything is going DI.  That doesn't mean the spray pattern is good.

If you guys are planning on welding in that plug you need to do this before you sleeve the block. The pressure that sleeves put on the block in that section will crack the block when you weld it.

Don't fill to the top, causes cooling problems.  Leave a 1/2 or 3/4 inch area above the fill for coolant to flow against the head.  Use fine grain salt and not rock salt; I used rock salt and some of it was caught up in the epoxy... I flushed the hell out of it but know I didn't get it all, and that's a great corrosive to just leave in your cooling jacket.

Thats what I was thinking, 1/2" below deck. I think it will stay together but its still going to split itself going down the track

I want to do it with in a month. From everything I have read it seems like Embeco>devcon.

Price Embeco is cheaper
Strength Emeco puts devcon to shame
Cure Embeco doesnt need to be bake

Thats enough for me to try it. My only concern as of right now, is how well does it cool. Running e85 helps a bit, I also plan to run a mid size IC nothing to big, and might get a 13" fan with 3 core rad to be safe.
