No. The valve face was super even and no carbon or pitting on either side so I just left it.

I will soon enough. I'll that I will be bringing though is the gas tank and the sump pan. I want to get the motor in and mocked up. Might be bringing some other shit for you to weld on as well. Will have to wait and see.

Talked to ross about some shit last night. Said the valves that I was concerned about is nothing to be concerned about. He also gave me a great idea for catch can setup.

Fixed, now I need help selecting a turbo. My origanal thought was to use a t72
Compressor Wheel diameter: 72.35 /102.86
Turbine wheel diameter : 68.40 /79.00

Then I was thinking about a t76
inducer:76.71mm
exducer:102.36mm
Turbine:
A/R 0.96
inducer:64.5mm
exducer:74.5mm

so I want a fast spool. The t72 compressor map shows that I'll make 10 psi at about 1800rpms. And the t76 makes 10 psi at 2500rpms. But they both run out of steam at about 5800. Now I was planning on using the 72,  but last night I started looking at holsets. And a 68mm hx55 looks pretty sexy too. Problem is just finding one. Idk I need help here. I can't find turbine maps for anything. Just compressor.

And I don't want to spend more than $375

I like the turbine specs better on the T72, vs the T76 you posted, though they are both a little small for running as a single imho, if anything I would think the T76 would spool as quick or quicker, but would likely surge. As a comparison the smallest turbine wheel in the commonly run as a single BW S400 chassis is a 74/83. The other thing is you really don't gain much on the compressor either as the exducer on both wheels is just the same, so it is really more just a trim change. A pair of those T76's would be way more fun...  :P .

Good luck finding turbine wheel info for anything that is not a Garrett, there is a little bit of BW stuff out there, but that is about it.

My opinion given your budget is to try the T72, and start saving up another $5000 for a good converter, trans and turbo, as power is addictive.

I've wanted to do the t72 with the .96 exhaust housing. Then when I started to inspect more into specs I was thinking if using the t76 with a .84 housing.

Idk, then I saw where a guy used a hx55 on a bone stock ls2 and made full tq by 3k. And that sounds pretty fucking good to me. The specs on his hx55 were

The compressor inducer is - 65mm
The compressor exducer is - 98mm

The turbine inducer is - 86mm
The turbine exducer is - 72mm
The turbine housing critical area is - 19cm2

Lol I know how addicting power can be. Sometimes it takes over and you end up going backwards. As much fun as my 440whp integra was, it still wasn't as fun as my 200whp crx was. The rhb5 was so much fun. Was like a endless supply of nitrous. Boost was always on tap.

My goal is to get it turboed, work on rear, brakes, converter and trans, mini tubs, cal tracks and then wheels tires.

HX55 has a much better turbine wheel size vs the T72/T76 for your application and is just a better turbo if you can find one for your price range. If not the T72 the T76 really doesn't give you any benefits over the T72.

An HX52 with the billet wheel is another option, I have seen them floating around from time to time for good prices.

Ok sweet. Thanks for the info. Goldfarb has a hx55 right now and that's where I got those specs. I sent him a email to see what other holsets he has. If I don't hear back from him I'm gonna call him on monday. How do you think the holset will spool?

That sucks. Easy outs usually make me want to fuck my asshole with a cactus. The only kind I use have a reverse drill bit on one side and a stubby swirly tip on the other. I've never broken one of those, and 1/3 of the time the bolt twists out while drilling (since it's done in reverse).

I've used reverse drill bits before, but I already had this drilled out and figured I would give a easy out a try. 1st, only, and last time I will use one.

Unless you have a carbide drill bit handy, don't waste your time and drill bits trying to drill through that easy out. They are hardened and really just don't take to drilling through well.

That situation is probably the single thing that drives me the most crazy, as I am always sure I can get it out with an easy out and almost always end up at a machine shop...  :'(

I do have a set of carbide bits, if it doesn't work I'll try welding a nut to it. But being that it's recessed in the head I have a feeling that it will end up at the machine shop.

I think it would be fine, remember the weld will not stick to the head, also during the welding the whole area gets hot and might even make it easier to get out.

So the first exhaust manifold bolt I ever broke was in a ford escape v6. Due to the position of the motor I couldn't drill it out while it was in the car. I had to remove the whole engine to drill it. Even with 90° drill adaptor I didn't have enough room in the engine bay. So one I had the motor out I used a reverse direction drill bit, it caught wile I was drilling g it out and backed itself right out.

So it looks like this is very common with the lsx engines with the stock bolts. Pretty much every successful thread I've read was people welding a nut to it and letting it cool for like 30 Seconds and it backs right out. I guess it could be worse. It could still be in the car and I could be trying to do this.

I have removed 1000's of broken exhaust bolts/studs from ls and triton motors and everything in between. I have had great success welding nuts on. Sometimes it takes a few nuts, lots of back forth, back forth. I am a pro at getting broken/seized bolts out. My shop is known for magic lol.
