Well, I cleaned up the firewall and got all the old seam sealer off. Then I scraped about 5 lbs worth of dirt off of the firewall.

So I put the 3" wire wheel in the drill and went to town.

Found out that it looks like someone ran over a small stump and dented the firewall right at the strongest part. It put a couple of ripples on the firewall. But not to big of a deal though because it's hidden once I put some inner fender panels on.

So then I laid down a new beat of seam sealer and then taped off the firewall where I didn't want the undercoating and gave a good shot of undercoating. Pulled the tape and then shot right over the top of it and the rest of the firewall with some more low gloss black.

Still kinda wet in thoes photos so here is a shot of it all dried up.

Ok, so this is where frustration sets in and I want to smash shit......

So my oil pan smacks hard into my rack and pinion. Can't even bolt it up it hits so hard. If I lift the front up to where it won't hit my engine is sitting at like 5 or 6°

So I know it's a truck pan and I need a f body pan but still should he kinda close to the same up front. Gonna walk away for a day or so b4 I reattack it.

shitty. i could have sworn that i read of people using a truck pan with limited ground clearance. and that the F-body pan was preferred.

looks like 2 3/8 for truck pan at the front and 1 3/8 for F-body.

the cleaned/painted fire wall and clip bolted up look damn sexy together tho.

yeah it looks real nice in person too. before I go any further and make motor mounts. I need to get the correct oil pan and try and get everything lined up straight and make sure my steering rack bolts up. then I can make my motor mounts and permanently put this thing in.

Well the frame mounts are almost done. Just need to add the support to the backside of the mount. Used some 1/8"×3" plate, 5/8" sch40 tubing, angle grinder and the hf mig. Turned out ok but I ran out of shielding gas.

so the engine is solid mounted to the frame? or are you using the gen1 mounts on the setback plates? or gen3 mounts in original position?...guess all would work fine really.

looks fuckin awesome, getting me excited.  :-*  its coming together nicely AJ, keep up the good work!

Well the frame mounts are all done. Pulled the motor and trans out today and finished up the backside of the mounts. Took the th400 off and bolted up the empty 4l80 case that Ross let me borrow. Put everything back in and now I need to mark where in the trans tunnel I need to clearance to make the 4l80 fit.

It's like the trans tunnel of the nova knew that there would be a 4l80 in there one day and she spread her tunnel just enough for it to slide in with a little foreplay from the bfh.

Got my springs installed. I decided to install them without cutting them. (Everything I've read says you need to cut some of them off b4 you install them. Turns out they were correct....haha

So frome what I've gathered. I need to cut these to make them about 12" tall. Right now they ar 13 5/8" tall. It's gonna be a few weeks b4 i get a chance to pull them back out and cut them. But in the mean time I'm gonna let them sit in the car with some weight on them and hope thwy settle a little.

I'm a little worried that they are gonna be a little stiff once they are cut. They are 325lb springs which means when I cut them the rate is going to go up. Haven't sat down and figured it out yet but might have to order some different ones.

probably too early to tell with the spring all jacked up in there. but is there sufficient clearance to run the 5/8 narrower A-arms?

I forgot to post this, I did this a while back but I figure I'll post it now.

It didn't care for the aftermarket th400 crossmember that I had bought for the Nova. It hung real low and sagged some. Made routing the exhaust a real pain. So i reused the factory powerglide crossmember and just welded some new mounting points to the subframe conectors. Now the crossmember fits nice and tight up against the floorpan. So I'll be able to run exhaust without it being two inches from the ground. Still need to wire wheel up my welds and give everything a good shot of undercoating. Think I'm gonna grind the welds on the subframe conectors off and re weld them when time permits. Had to fluxcore them because I ran out of gas when I went to weld them up.

Got a little work done today. My mustang II springs were way to tall (13.75") so I cut 1 coil off (now 11.75"). Turned out great. Might end up needing different springs anyways but these will work for now. Should have probably only cut 3/4 of a coil instead of the whole thing but oh well. Figure once I load the rest of the parts on the front of the car it should be real close to having my lower control arms right at 0° so that's close enough for me. Also yarded the motor and trans back out to finish up all the mods on the th400. Next time the motor and trans go's in its staying in. :-)

Well I've started cutting and separating the engine  wiring harness and I got a deal on a dirty ass oilpan....lol got a fbody pan, pickup, dipstick tube, and dipstick for $150+paypal fees+shipping. All in all it came out to about $181 to my door. Should be here sometime this week. So now I need to open the transmission up and see if I just need gaskets or hard parts too while I'm doing the jakes transmission dual feed mod.

Worthless post without picks so here you go

Few more things. Picked up a complete ls1 intake for dirt cheap. Gonna put it up for sale as soon as I get it and at least double my money on it.

So on that note I started to pull the transmission apart for the dual feed mod. Took it apart to see if I needed and hard parts. Everything looks mint inside. So I pulled 1 of the 2 seals. So tomorrow I'm going pick up the plug and a set screw. I also ordered a full gasket/seal set.

So now I just need to hurry up and wait for it so I can put it all back together.

Half way apart,

Notice I had a little internal leak because this trans has been apart b4....lol unless gm installed it this way but I don't think so. O ring was kinda fucked...haha

My transtec gasket set showed up today. Was going to slam out some work on the transmission today, but I ended up doing a brake job on the front end of a crv for a little extra cash. Gonna hit the trans on monday. Might do some valve body mods tomorrow when I get off work if I have time. If not then I'll do all of it on monday.

That was for a 4l80, not a th400. Totally different.

Almost have the th400 all finished up. Got my lip seal off and the 2nd ring off so the dual feed mod is almost complete. Having a great time trying to get the input shaft and clutches all lined up. Once that's Done I can slam my pump on and mod up my valve body.
