This is incorrect. IMSA sanctions ALMS and the mazda championship. Porsche has won more ALMS races and series than any other manufacturer. Rotaries win the mazda championship. You see?

i know i cant really quote anything online, and i know i said mazda itself has won many titles, but i was actually refurring to the rx7.

Mazda began racing RX-7s in the IMSA GTU series in 1979. That first year, RX-7s placed first and second at the 24 Hours of Daytona, and claimed the GTU series championship. The car continued winning, claiming the GTU championship seven years in a row. The RX-7 took the GTO championship ten years in a row from 1982. The RX-7 has won more IMSA races than any other car model.In the USA SCCA competition RX7s were raced with great success by Don Kearney in the NE Division and John Finger in the SE Division.

Um, im not gonna start a flame war or some bullshit, but maybe you need to recheck your #'s. I fully disagree with your statement about the GTO championship. The only year mazda even placed 1st in GTO was in 91' and thats only because there were only 6 OEM's competing. Porsche and Chevy dominated the GTO in the 80's, so how could the rx7 have won more races if the points based system says otherwise? I wont comment on your statement that the rx7 is the winningest car in IMSA, as I cant find info to confirm or deny this, but it is what it is.
