anyone know where to get 1.5"/38mm v band sets ? think i only seen them one place and they were stupid expensive.. didnt think these were so hard to come by
-
anyone tried these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUPERTRAPP-T-BOLT-CLAMP-EXHAUST-STAINLESS-1-5-/130401688165?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e5c8bda65 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUPERTRAPP-T-BOLT-CLAMP-EXHAUST-STAINLESS-1-5-/130401688165?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e5c8bda65) seems like its too narrow to hold 2 pipes together for shit

What are you trying to do? that is a t bolt clap not a v band clamp?

i know the difference, im trying to connect to piipes and not using normal flanges

Why not use a normal flange? trying to find a 1.5" v-band will be tough. you could do slip fit but someone would need to know the part and it's usable to know if a slip fit joint would work. so idk what to tell ya.

buy cheap 2 inch v band kit
cut 2 pieces of 16gauge sheet metal into 2x2 squares.
drill/dremel 1.5 in holes in sheet metal
weld flanges to each square
weld square to wastegate tubes
profit
extra credit, grind the edges of the sheet metal down to the flanges for that finished look

Thats meant to go over a slip joint, not to hold two pieces butted together.

the pipes (2) go along the frame of a motorcycle so i dont have room for any bulky flange, i can do a butt or slip whatever i need to when i find a good cheap way to connect them besides welding them. might just do slip fits with hooks and tension springs
i need to seperate them before a 2 into 1 merge to remove them ever

This.

Unless your pipes overlap, you're really SOL if you can't do any welding. A slip fitting is one pipe fitting over another very tightly, with a clamp that either deforms the outter pipe or squeezes a very tight fit just enough to create a lot of friction. You'd have to look at exhaust clamps for this though. A normal t-bolt won't be able to create the clamping force to do shit. Those clamps that are a the shape of an Omega greek letter are what you need, but they aren't cheap either. They're only for ~14ga steel max.

i tack'd a 1 5/8 ID to 1 5/8 OD exhaust adapter to each pipe so they slip over nice so maybe i will check out those fancy clamps if i dont use springs, i dont want to use U bolts ive done that before and i dont like they way they crimp the pipe if you actually tighten them down enough to stay on
