Figured I'd throw this in fab since that's 90% of this build.
Car is a 65 Nova. Kinda hard to get a good pic of it. Too much shit in the shop.

Motor is a fresh 358 with Eagle crank, rods and JE pistons.ARP main studs, head studs etc. Its gonna be running Megasquirt 2 with wasted spark.
Still need to paint it and get rid of that orange.

Fabbing up an efi manifold for it. I'm also using this car for my senior project which is tunable PWM water/meth injection.

We have three days scheduled to get a good tune on the car then do testing on the water/meth injection starting sat march 31st, so this is gonna move pretty quickly.

Awesome. I'm in.
-
Sweet, Novas are one of the muscle cars I've always liked.
How do you keep chips off the tool setter? Or do you just use it for initial length register (you would obviously be able to keep it clean then) and not for tool life management?
-
badass!
Only recommendation is to go MS3X. I've used MS3X and MS2E, MS3X is 10X better. if it's the owners decision, tell him it's worth the extra money even on a budget ass build. I have a perfectly good working MS2E on the miata and REALLy want to fuck it up change it to MS3X
-
I have never used the probe. Probably cause I don't know how, lol. When I change a tool out, I indicate it the old fashioned way. Is it supposed to covered or something?
Balls dude. Tool touch probes are so much faster, more accurate/repeatable.
Yeah mine are all covered, I'll try to snap a couple pictures.
-
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK... HELLA JELY!!! 67 is my fav, 64-5 next best AWESOME dude!
-
fapworthy

i wish i had a cnc mill.

Once you use a tool setter you never go back. If you need any help figuring it out I'm sure I could help.

Where's the turbo? ;)
-
Yep, I'm jelly.
Are you doing anything with the cheesedick front subframe setup?
-

Ya, were swapping in a modified 72 front end with a custom rack setup. Probably not the most common front end swap for these but we had it laying around and decided to use it.
Heh, that ought to be interesting. I'd love to see pics when you guys do that.

If by nova's you mean chevy 2'S I agree 100%
-
Fucking sick dude
-
Sounds great im glad someone else is doing a sbc turbo setup. I am wondering if your doing a single or twin? Also why are you gonna use methenal injection if your gonna be fuel injected? My 650 holley read like a fuel injected car on the wide band as i did my blowthrou setup. Do you know what your gonna do for traction because the turbos enhance the torque down low so those tires will fry even easier. I have so much info on my builds i would have to start my own thread for my builds. The turbo 305 and the caddy will be all up and runnning this year. I see you are running old school fuelies? I have questions on camshaft and what block work has been done? Whats the projected hp rating? If you have any questions send me a pm. Awesome work
-
this will be cool. my dad has a 65 4 door with 230 inline 6. i have been trying to talk him into turboing it rather than a 300hp 350. thats what he wants, but right after that says he wants something different. 99% of them have 300hp 350's. any retard can do that.

A turbo straight six? Fantastic

Damn that looks good!

tool setters are over rated, just another thing to get abused
Faster to use a macro program to write the offset in using a block. The hell with guessing how far tools are sticking out to run the tool setter program, especially when setting fifty some tools back to back. However I could see using it if you used alot of regrinds to measure the diameter tho

Bull shit. Why are you guessing your tool length? Even manually a tool eye is more repeatable and faster.
-
The Rienshaw tool setter that I have used requires you to give an approximate length before you run the tool setting program, this way it rapids a few inches above the tool setter, feeds down twice and writes the offset. Compared to writing a macro program using a unused g function "G14" for example, just about every machine that is in my work has the macro loaded and you just call up G14 in MDI, it writes the offset retracts the head and changes to the next tool. I have no problem settings tools within .0001 all day long off a 1-2-3 block.
-
If the block is calibrated to 1 tenthousandth your tool isn't going to set to that every time .0005 is about as low as I'd measure for sure before you start to get strange shit fucking with your numbers.

Cheese and rice this thing is going to be nasty.

This is giving me wood. :noel:
Good work, keep the updates coming. :noel: :noel: :noel: :noel:

DAMN!!!

no ladder bar .. it has a art morrison full frame and cage, full aluminum interior, basically the body is a shell.
soon i will be starting the project.. and your welding skills are looking good. keep up the work!
-
This shit makes me feel like a dumbass for selling my Nova... Shit's gangster.
-
Looks awesome. How's the thermostat housing clearance though? I'm on my phone, but it looks pretty tight.
-
With all that good looking aluminum, the only thing I would change, is to put in some accufab, or vanjen or ect... clamps vs the silicone boots.
-
What size TB? :noel:
-
3/8's O-ring would be my guess.
-
Call AEM.
-
3/8's O-ring would be my guess.
That's what I figured but everything that I've seen that took a straight cut o-ring fitting, had a little race on the port to accept the o-ring. This doesn't.
Use -6 AN o-rings! The o-ring is put on the thread-less area at the base of the threads, and seal on the outter chamfer on the female fitting.
Either get a "straight-cut" fitting that only uses an o-ring, or cut off the flare end on the AN fitting. If it screws in w/o bottoming out, you can just pop on an o-ring.
-
Maybe npt?
-
3/8 oring would be a -906 I believe.
if a -6 AN is the same 9/16-18 thread an SAE -6 is.
-
Maybe npt?
Sounds like BSPP, which is the rest of the worlds version of npt, sort of.
-
i am familiar, hondas use that for the oil pressure switch. i tap all of my blocks for npt, to make turbo plumbing easier
-
gangsta!!!
-
oh my fuck.
-
bad ass
-
Can't remove radiator, etc and swap the cam out?
-
carkrazed didnt you have a xr4ti at one point?
