Finally got my own project up and running DYNO RESULTS IN
« on: November 13, 2014, 02:12:33 AM »

You might remember a while back in march I started a thread on suggestions for my turbo choice
if not here is the build
92 si hatch
lsvtec
stock bore 81mm with moroso block filler  (going old school hmt)
fully ported and polished gsr head with stock valvetrain
arp head studs
eagle rods
nippon b18 "turbo pistons"  aka stock ls castings with upgraded alloy 10:1 cr
98+ spec itr lsd trans
kevlar disck with stock pressure plate
in900  injectors
bosch 190 lph fuel pump
3" ss d
hx40 8 blade with 16cm divided t3 housing
ss sidewinder manifold they used to sell on ebay way back
custom radiator dang holset turbo never fit with stock rad
running on neptune rtp

some light port work never got a pic of head all finished up

nippon turbo pistons

Filling block with salt for moroso block filler

eagle rods

block all filled up with coolant holes drilled to match head gasket

hx40 8 blade with 16cm divided t3 housing

turbo manifold

all assembled including custom radiator

that intercooler might look small but it is huge 4.5" core was made gmc cyclone  with hks knock off bov welded to inter cooler

shooting for arond 450 whp on pump 93 maybe go near 500 on 112
will have pics up shortly
shooting for dyno next week.
what do you guys think about the cr being up there and still making the power I want to safely on pump gas?
car is a dd that I drive 90mi day to work currently

Comp is pretty high to make the power you want on pump. Other than that, filling the block and daily driving make me curious how your Temps will do.

Well temps really haven't been a issue car was driven na for about 3k before boost and ran around 180°
Since I have gone boost and had to have custom rad made that was little smaller it runs between 185-205 no matter how much I abuse same temps.
but I think I am having thermostat problem car has good heat for about  30 mins then goes cool.

Normally I would totally agree but this thing bites hard ran it at the track last day this year running about 13 psi with drag radials and thing dead hooked in every gear no slipping. Ass dyno says car is near 400 whp right now.
Track was only 1/8 mile and ran a 7.6@94 mph on drag radials in a full weight Si with me in it around 2400-2450 lbs.

I'm thinking your closer to the low 300s, anyways I bet the clutch will give up the ghost on the dyno. Especially if your doing any real pulls and loading it down.

I guess we will see in next week or so. I will post pics soon and dyno results. I still think it's deep 300's  it's by far the fastest car I have ever owned and my last integra ran 11's
It currently spins to around 85 mph with 205/60/15 Dunlop dz101s

Hope the best for you. It's just hard to tell on the interweb.....lol I remember joe was only making 3XXhp and was rocking low 10s in a gutted hatch. So that being said if your car is 700 lbs heavier then you should be low 11s in the 1/4......in a perfect world that is. Set that holset to nog and let it rip!!

So i finally managed to scrounge up a lil cash and time to get car up on rollers and see what she makes here are results
http://youtu.be/biJDk2cmsWU?list=UUcwlILj9b0Aiu6fNAO1GHlQ

http://youtu.be/biJDk2cmsWU?list=UUcwlILj9b0Aiu6fNAO1GHlQ

car ended up making 409 at around 15-16 psi on pump gas. after that couldn't really get it to make much more power with any changes attempted
so I tossed couple gallons of c12 into it in hopes of going up higher near 450 ish but started running into lot of ignition problems (autozone dizzy)I know i know cheap skate but it was a free new dizzy
So I gapped the plugs down to .022- .022 and then it started going lean so I think the fuel pump may have been maxed out. but all in all for the budget 419 whp aint to bad. I plan on going back in spring with hotter ignition and better fuel pump and see what it can put down.

Are those numbers corrected? Looks like it. I would like to see them uncorrected. But all in all it looks like you have a hwy screamer. How's it feel?

yes sae correction is used. was using a dyomite dyno thu far it has been one of the most accurate dyno's I have seen around.

thing is a really fun car to drive, bit laggy but for a hx40 I think it's not to bad. it's quick 1-3rd but once it's in 4th above 6k it really pulls like a freight train. only thing that sucks is that I am only able to run 2.25 exhaust on street and it really chokes it bad. I have 3" cutout for track but it's not electronic ....yet

autozone dizzy or not your going to need your plugs gapped between .018 and .020. BCPR7ES work great. br7es will work to but the plug is 2.3mm? taller.

I am going to try out a msd system I got for cheap. it's the sci unit and the blaster sc coil. should help with ignition problems. that and  a fresh cap rotor and wires.

also I have tuned cars upwards of 520 whp with the gap at .020 no ran great. plugs were getting little to hot of a rang tough I think. bkr7e was running around 26-27 psi at that point

after owing close to a dozen turbo cars I have a highly calibrated ass dyno..... or just a good guess since I tuned a couple cars this summer with close to the same setup I had.

So...you had the 2.25" exhaust on when you dyno'd over 400whp? Or where you running it with the cutout open?

no I was running the open 3" cutout when it made that power. I did tune a car this summer with a small 2.5" exhaust that made lil over 400 whp was at closer to 18-19 psi though I was only at around 16 ish

I am very happy with the injectors I got from you though. very nice idle and cold starts still getting around 29 mpg with itr trans even
