Title: Urban Indian's Master Cutoff switch/diode wiring diagram
Post by: Urban Indian on May 03, 2009, 11:09:39 AM
So I am trying to figure out how to install a diode so that the trigger wire that activates the alternator or maybe "key on" power does not feed back (keeping the car running when the switch is turned off) I want to be able to run my alternator and have the car turn off when the master cutoff power switch is turned off.

The system works now as long as the alternator power feed is unplugged.

This large one is power from the switch then power to the starter then fuse box. (this used to go power from fusebox to battery to starter) Small one 6ga is NEW power feed to battery from alternator directly.

SO the question is. Where to get a diode/what kind of diode/ what wire to put the fucking thing on. There are 4 wires coming from the alternator plug

As far as I can tell
White/blue - dash light
white/green - alt. signal output
white/red - Alt. FR Signal??? what....
black/yellow - fuse 15. Alt. SP Sensor

Manual 1998-2001integra manual.
p.1433/34 of 1681

I relocated mine so I need a kill switch too. Where can I get it?

I don't have any idea how it looks like

in our rally car, we ended up taking the main power source from the main relay and putting the switch between that (large yellow/black, i think).

shuts the car down without issue once the switch is shutoff with out needing to mess with alt wiring.

edit: eg manual 11-116 and 11-117

so going from the diagram one would cut the yellow and white wire of pin #1 going to the main relay

this means that I would run 1 wire to the back of the car. Pulling power off the battery side of the switch instead of whereever the white and yellow wire goes.

Thus when the main power switch is kicked no power can go to the main relay shutting the car off.

RIGHT?

There's still power in the rest of the car, just not the engine harness, and therefore defeats the purpose of a main power kill switch.

I think it will work as it sits right now.

Charge Power is only going to the battery. everything is getting power from the battery.

So the fusebox SHOULD get turned off when the switch is turned. The ignition system gets its power from the fusebox only.

If it works then I am an idiot because I already had it wired that way.
