Did you just buy it or you had it for a time and stopped working?

You need to follow the overcomplicated procedure to make it work on the first time.

But since I did it last week, did you register on eCtune then waited for the license file and hooked up the Ostrich to get the serial and get another license by email?

What did you do about the license file. You need to do it twice.

Save it in your ectune folder. I had to overwrite mine. But yeah, its better to confirm from the ectune forums. It could be a different issue youre having.

you can set and reset vendor all you want..  All the "vendor" thing does it lock the emulator to ectune.  You have to get the license for the program and you have to have the license for the ostrich.  It has been ashile since i did this but the procedure is pretty straight forward.  Download ectune and put the first license into the ectune folder.  Register the ostrich in emulator > ostrich info, download new license from email and replace the new license with the old license.  From there the vendor should be true and everything should work.

This setup can be confusing sometimes but you only have to do it once and its pretty secure.  The rest of the time you just force update once a month.

FYI, Calvin scripts eCtune in .NET, so it is automatically supported by any XP or up Microsoft OS.  Hell, it probably works in '95 if you can download the .NET framework for it.

Don't worry about it.  You're a bright guy, it shouldn't take you more than three motors to become a master tuner.   :)

I'd laugh in Calvin and Calvin's lawyers face if he tried to sue me.  Suing someone over such a matter while hes in Europe would be a laugh.

You can sue anyone.  It's not a big deal.  The costs are minimal and doesn't require a whole lot of effort.  Going through with the suit is what costs and requires effort.  He'd go broke trying to make me go broke and probably fail in the end.

It would be hilarious.

There's already a hacked version of ectune available on the webz. It's not completely functional at this point, but it will be eventually.

I doubt he'd sue you, just blacklist you.  And he's not been in europe for a couple years now.

It didn't work, but it did opened without the lock screen.  If someone gets it fully cracked in the future, cool, I won't bother trying it.  Some of the ideas Calvin's bounced off of me on that subject are pretty draconian.  Besides, OBD1 Honda is dying off, without asking anyone about it I am sure that in another three years I'm sure eCtune will be a lot cheaper.  Calvin's a bright guy with other irons in the fire.

So what, an obd2 app finally? Or...just custom jets & floats for a boost-capible Holley 650 double pumper?? I'd guess it will just be shit for k-series or s2k stuff.

Although I think Calvin is a little paranoid, I can understand. The problem is that no matter how much effort you go though, someone will defeat your security. I recall the big shit about the first PS2 chips. The first "real" chips used Actel copy-proof chips in which internal traces get shorted after production. Yet...they still copied them.

And IMO until he stops using a basic chip emulator, it will never be fully secure.

There's a much much smaller market interested in reversing car shit than the gaming/phone/computer/other scenes, especially in the tightwad OBD1 Honda market.   I'm with Chris' position that making it difficult enough to keep the average guy honest is the only real goal, and Calivn's harder on it than that but he has relaxed a LOT over the last couple years.

Given that fact, he should try stuff with BMWs or some higher end car that hasn't been technically cracked. People paying hundreds of dollars for a generic chip for their M3 is rediculous.

Uh, log onto chiptuner and tell me an M3 ECU hasn't been cracked within 6 months of it being released by BMW.  When you get paid hundreds for a generic reflah WHY would you want to do any more work??

The DCX ECUs are fucked up.  It's a target AFR fuel table setup a la MAF with a VE table skinned over it to bandaid speed density, and the recent cars' e-throttle and manner in which they handle spark is completely fucked up.

Diablosport already supports it, and SCT's variant is somewhat brain damaged.  Meh.
