On the old HMT, I only ever really posted my turbo Tercel (it was super fucking ugly).
SInce then, Ive parted the car out and crushed the shell. The tercel is kinda a shit platform to begin with.
Ive picked up a couple of projects since then.
#1 1991 Toyota Corolla NAVEX/Rallycross car.
I got this car for free a few weeks ago, and hadnt really decided what to do with it. Originally I was just going to make a turbo kit ... rip it for a bit, the nsell the kita and scrap the car. Then I decided to do the kit and use it for Rally Cross instead. Now, after doing the Maple Leaf winter Rally, Im going ta make it a RallyX / NAVEX car. The only REAL difference is that the turbo setup needs to be a little more reliable and it needs to be certified/etested. Other than that, everythign else will be more of less the same.
The car is a 1991 Toyota Corolla DX 5spd. Rear qt's are kinda rough, but overall its a mechanically decent car, so aside from patching some holes, the cert should be a breeze.
The list of mods are to be as follows.
ENGINE
* Stock internal 4AFE
* sinklog manifold
* Mitsu TEO4H turbo
* 1G DSM bov and pipe
* turbo 626 injectors
* GM 2bar MAP
* 2.5" hardpipes
* Supra FMIC used a a TMIC
SUSPENTION
* some kind of DECENT struts (Im thinking KONI Yellows)
* stiffer springs that retain original ride height (open to sugestions)
* Corolla GT-S Sway bars
BRAKES

WHEELS / TIRES
* VW 14" Alloys w/195/60R14 H rated cooper cobras
* VW 14" Alloys w/ 205/70R14 BFG All Terrain T/A's
INTERIOR
* OG Recaros
* RJS 4pt harnesses
* turbo gauges and whatnot
* additional power outlets in glovebox
* RED LED interior lighting
* straps in trunk for toolkit
EXTERIOR
* fix rust
* removable front light bar
* TOW arrows
* hood scoop for TMIC
And ... for the pics.

-
Cool I have the same supra intercooler. ;D
-
Yeah, I think is should work pretty good for this. I want to use it as a TMIC on the pass side of the engine, and just make a bulge to cover it.
Im trying to keep it off the front of the car in case I land a little nose heavy.
-
Solid post, post up pic's of the toyota; nig this is hmt the more beat up the better ;)

I just finished up all the interior stuff (except the "night pannel"), so Im going to start in on the manifold hopefully tomorow afternoon. I know it seems silly to start with the stuff inside the car, but it was cold and I was able to do it inside. For a change I decided to make it look as clean and OE as possible .... at least inside the car.
I got some 2" els from Weir on thursday so now Ive not got an excuse anymore. Im just going to make a braket for it that makes the "sinklog" bolt to the block, so all the load isnt on the pipes themselves, or the exhaust studs.
Oil lines will be brake lines, with exhaust pipe charge pipes.
The GM map sensor should look after most of the fuel curve (up to 15psi anyways) but I still need an AFC to pull a bit of fuel at the bottom end.
200 whp should be fairly easily attainable, and should be lots to move that thing around.
-
Cant wait to see the cb7 get hooked up...
-
Yeah, the CB is going to be done nice. Weir tacked up the manifold while i was there the other day. Plus Im going to get Aaron to do all the chargepipes too.
I think the Volvo T3 (1980's Volvo 242) might be a LITTLE on the small side but should be good none the less. At least it will be easily replacable.
I grabbed an OBD1 Civic ECU the other day, now just go get it chipped and a decent basemap. I guess I probably need to get a resistor box for the DSM 450's too.
Right now Im just excited to get the new roofrack and Ronals on it. I doubt Il have the whole setup together till mid summer anyways.
RONALS

te04h for the loss... up-grayyy-deee that shit :-*
-
I thought it should be fine for the Corolla ... its only a 1.6. I used the Garrett version of the Daytona turbo on my Tercel and it seemed to work pretty well.
What do you see as the issue?
-
What is up with the valve cover?
Why the kittie thing?
-
I dunno, I just picked it because it was totally random.
Ive got a bit better layout for the next one.
-
400k, seriously? Holy fuck.
-
nig, wheres the the tcel
-
Tercel is long since parted out ..... Did that last spring.
It was pretty lumpy, so no big loss. It was more a learning process then anything else.

Solid post, post up pic's of the toyota; nig this is rhmt the more beat up the better ;)
