FUCK TURBO TECHNOLOGY!!!
Just had to get that out of the way. This fucker let go about 2 weeks after the tune. What ever, just calls for a better build and a tune from someone else or myself. Here's where it stands now. Ordered a set of Supertech pistons, TT Rods, HKS head gasket, orange chicken front mount. Still need to get a set of ARP head studs and a walbro 255. Block just went to the machine shop. Getting ready to build me a monster. :)

Been super busy finishing some other projects but I am finally getting back to this. Well, block is back and looks pretty good. Started working on the oil setup. Started out by drilling out the oil pressure sensor hole on the back of the block and tapping it out for 1/4 NPT. I then put a 1/4 NPT to -6AN adapter and ran some braided line (temporary of course until it is in the car)
Next I made an oil distrabution block. It has a -6 inlet to feed it and a -3 out of the right for oil supply to the turbo. Then on the bottom of the block I have drilled and tapped two holes for the oil pressure sensor and an oil pressure gauge. This should help to clean up the usual mess of oil lines on the back of the block.

I work with a guy that used to be an electrical engineer. I told him about this turbo and he came up with a real simple circuit to control a servo with a pwm signal and move it based on voltage (or map pressure). He also said that he can set endpoints and control the hold voltage or map signal. My turbo should be here today so we are going to tear into the stepper motor that controls the VGT and will see what kind of input it requres. We might just switch to running it with a servo and call it a day though.
Well, I got a little work done today. Got the old engine out, new one in, intercooler mounted (and stealthed) everything is wired up and ready to go. Just have to make some new charge pipes, new wastegate dump tube and a couple other little house keeping things. Right now I only have the little .42/.48 saab turbo on in while I break it in and until I can get some time to build a manifold for the HolSlut. It has been over a year sense I drove this whore and I want to get out and drive it. Hoping to be driving this thing to lunch tomorrow. Enjoy.

Did a little work on the old manifold today :) I just have a little more welding to do on it and then put it in the car. I have it mocked up on the SOHC right now but It should fit fine on the ZC. Hoping to put it in this weekend. The old log manifold was one I made a long time ago and jacked the cut up on. I am just going to weld it back up and call it a day :8

Well, had a few issues on Saturday. Wideband failed, no big deal. Bigger deal was the Del Sol decided to do a reinactment of the exxon valdez on my Garage floor. Turns out my budget oil line off the back of the block developed a leak. So, I ripped the engine out tonight to get that replaced with a better oil line. Unfortunatlly the only way to get to it is to pull the engine or intake manifold. The first option is the easiest if you ask me. I am also going to take this time to replace the tranny as it was acting up some on me. Gonna swap the SI trans out for the DX. Should give me a little more time in gear.
I did however get the Holset bolted on and hung it in there to do some trial fitting. Looks like it is going to fit perfectly. I will need to swap the fan out for a slim fan but that is not a big deal. Here is how it sits right now. Enjoy.

I threw the old turbo back on and was driving it for a little while tell this old fucker hit me in a parking lot. Not I am to pissed to work on the fucking car. Waiting for insurance to finish dooking it out. Depending on what I get from insurance, I should be able to get this bad boy done. I really want to see what this turbo is going to do danmit. Just one delay after another.

Holy fuck that was a ton of pics. Anyways, current update is I havn't run the Holslut yet. Yeah, I am a pussy. I still need to get some bigger injectors. It is only running the 450s right now. Also need to get my new xenocron fuel pump and 3 bar in it. Hopefully do that this weekend. Currently it has a jacki chan turbo in it. Pulls a hell of a lot harder then the saab turbo and seems to have stoped my james bond smokeing car dissapearing routine. There tunertoys rods with D16Z6 10:1 pistons. Works out to around 9:1 in the ZC. Been holding together pretty good so far. Need to get a decent tune on it. I can't get the holset in either until I can get a slim fan and front mount the slim fan to make room for a down pipe.

Its not on there yet. Trying to find some bigger injectors and get off my lazy ass to put the bigger fuel pump in. The stocker can't even keep up anymore. 100% duty cycle, 10psi and still leaning out like a bitch.

I keeps blowing them off. Kind of on hold right now as I am saving money for my honeymoon. I did throw down a lame ass 14.6 Last friday in Bremerton.

Well, I pulled the charge pipes off, welded a bead around the end of the charge pipe and hairsprayed it. Also got rid of the home depot coupler coming off the turbo. Bitch holds 15lbs now. Going out to Bremerton again next friday to see what she will do. I'm still trying to get in touch with leed to have him tune my shit too. O0 is hard to get in touch with. I sent him a message on facebook, spammed his PMs on here like he requested, left him voicemails. If anyone can get in touch with the O0 tell him to get back to me.

So leed hooked me up yesterday. I learned so much from him and the car is running better then ever. Had some issues with the map sensor yesterday that I finally got worked out today. Been working on the tune some more and looks like it is pretty solid. Looks like I have a decent amount of injector left too :yes:

My ZC didn't make it home yesterday. Started knocking rattling so I pulled over. Just brought it home right now. Oil on spark plug #2, im thinking a broken/bent valve. I might not need the dizzy after all but pretty sure will need the timing belt cover.
Do you have any spare ZC block/head?

homemade that actually ran, I would pick the SC14 civic over this if ran good and got to go on the dyno. A car that runs always wins, though.
BTW: Have you seen this ad for the tranny? $125 is a good deal I would say. Inspect it throughly first though.

BTW I would've love to see my z6/y8 w/ SC14 on the dyno but damn main bearing.
I would love to see how ZC would run with turbo maxed out I was predicting 300whp with that setup until I saw how much engine that thing has wow. :o

12.44 is slightly on the leaner side, but is not going to cause damage soon. Insanely lean is anything near or over 13s in higher boost. That will melt shit

I saw a log of daves some time ago and I think he had his tuned to the 12.2-12.3 range on high boost. The only real reason to go richer than that is to suppress det. But if your running race fuel it dont mater to much.

That's okay if it's drag-only use AND you don't hot lap the car AND the coolant temps always stay consistent/she doesn't hold onto heat.

If you have a lot of wheelspin it's okay, too... you don't use all your fuel in those scenarios. I've street tuned some bigger power streetcars, and when they are strapped to the dyno or make passes at the track on slicks they break up from being too rich. Load is a funny thing.

Got 3rd gear really solid now. But 1st and 2nd are about 1point higher for AFRs. Anybody have any pointers?

I would shoot for the lower 12's for a street car. But if you are the only one that is gona drive it I wouldnt worry about it to much. Its the 1 time you let someone else drive it and they go up a hill in 3rd gear at 25mph and that bitch is pinging all the way up the hill.

The turbo takes a minute to spool :) going up a hill in second until about 5-5500 no traction issues, after that :evil: I will have to go get a log danmit!

Went back to the Dyno today. Did 3 pulls and now it is 10hp less. Got the Map sensor fixed up but now the ignition is breaking up after 5k. :( Looks like I need to fix that now. Also turns out my water pump is done. Found a big nasty puddle when I backed it off the dyno.

Oil on plugs aren't bent valves. You don't need a thread to figure out what's wrong with your motor, you need common sense.

I wouldn't worry too much about the difference in numbers, especially since it's a different dyno. Does the car feel any different? Did you make any changes to the map on the dyno?

I pulled 2 degrees of timing and it lost about 5hp. The ignition did break up more when I did it too but I heard no det with my det cans. I think I just have to find out why it is breaking up.

Finally did some more work on this piece of shit trying to get it ready for the dyno day. Had a huge crack in the manifold the size of BDVTs Mom's Snatch that had to get welded up. Wastegate had a hole in the diaphram and I didn't want tokeep waiting for the wastegate I got from MarcJ so I went ahead and put a new chinese wastegate on it for now. Also built an exhaust for it finally. All 3" SS with a Dynomax Round muffler in the middle instead of a resonator and a Borla at the back.
This thing is by far the quietest 3" exhaust I have ever heard. Got all that shit done and took it for a ripper this morning and everything seems good. Need to do a few more things like clean up the interior as it leaked al over this winter in it and it is all nasty.

Well, before I can get a catch can on it, I need to make some room. Time to move the battery. That was todays mission. I built a new battery tray from some aluminum angle. I mounted up 3/4" to make room for the new floor floor I want to put in later. I still need to run the power cable to the back and I need to make a new battery tie down that isn't all nasty. My aluminum welds are not up to where I would like them yet but they hold. Anyways, as usual, here are the pictures.

I would like to re-locate the batt but i'm not sure where to run the cables. Are you putting them inside a conduit on the bottom of the car? you cant really run them through the car since the delsol has that fucked up rear firewall thing for the rear window.

I'm considering this but figuring if I should do a 5/8" fitting off of the black and a 5/8" fitting off of the v/c to a blue Rockstar can with a little filter on top.
