Low CR turbo engines are even friendlier, lots more clearance in the chamber. The only time I worry about the chamber design is when some kid wants a 13.5:1 pumpgas motor - the GSR head will support it even though it's not a great idea without a low cam that has overlap to bleed off excess pressure/suction, whereas the B16 head just pings semi-uncontrollably below 3000.

The GSR head has a different IM flange, and the intake ports are more of an easy angled entry so you can see the backs of the intake valves. Valve spacing/angle is identical, and the valves themselves are identical. Stock for stock, there are multiple flowbench charts comparing B16 to GSR on the internet and they are the same line when overlapped. Pretty sure "Alaniz stock head comparison" fed to Google Images would turn what you want to see up.

I haven't compared side by side or measured, but my gut feeling is a B16 exhaust port is a GSR exhaust port.

Dave we nigger rigged a b16 IM onto a b18 head on Bnorth's car. It is really pretty straight forward, going that way, I assume the same in reverse.

Other way around. I put Levis old B18c mani on my b16 head. It was easy cause S2 uses the same flange casting just have to drill the new hole pattern on it.

That's a bad idea. Angle of entry between GSR and B16/ITR is different, you end up with a sudden change in port direction.

If they use the same flange casting, it makes me wonder if they use the same runner casting. So it may be unoptimized for one head, probably the gsr.

The early S2/BLOX casting was an ITR clone, and it fit incorrectl on the GSR head. S2 Pro uses different castings to correct this.

Dropped off the cams today to get measured. Noticed a few weird things in regards to wear on the cams, should be measured next week.

I don't have the cams anymore, they are at Colt, I'll get them back next week along with measurements. Basically there is some chatter on a few of the exhaust lobes on the base circle, as well as some uneven wear on the ramp of the lobes (only wearing 50% of the width) in some areas. Haven't had a chance to look at rockers, but they will not be reused.

that cam was worn like that with the first head. I noticed the scarring there beforehand and thought it was abnormal.

No, there isn't any scaring, there has always been from what I can remember a small chip on one lobe. The wear I am talking about is just the parkerizing wearing, with the exception of chatter on a couple of the lobes... I kind of think that maybe that was always there, but just wasn't too noticeable initially as the parkerizing might have made it looks smooth? I can see how the cam could get the chatter marks on it from something being on the profile guide plate when they were grinding it, so it is possible. But I doubt it has any direct effect on the failure as the problem is on the base circle, the only corelation I see would be the lack of QC on the manufacturers end.
