Well cams have been measured, the center lines match up. Only issues (that would have nothing to do with the engine failure) are that some of the lobes are out of square and some bad grinding on the base circle. Plenty worthy of warranty, and getting your money back, but not why the piston and valves were kissy kissy. Levi have you talked to the shop that degreed your cams yet?

The issue with that is, just because they were "degreed in properly" doesnt mean there was sufficient p2v or v2v clearance.                Even though we know they weren't degreed in properly.

Anything on the valves that indicates v2v??

V2V is nearly unheard of on a Honda.  The valve seperation angle is sinply not wide enough for it to be a practical concern - save in weird situations like this one.

My moneys on p2v but the cams being degreed wrong( intake cam was fully advanced) tightens p2v on the intake side.  I swear i seen p2v marks on the number 3 piston but Passanger says he inspected them better and they weren't there, so idk.

No OS valves this time though.

Obvious.
Negative.

Its just weird that there isn't evidence of contact on any of the other cylinders, for both failures.
Its bothering me that there isn't something absolute, or perhaps there is and I have just overlooked it, adding to my frustration.

The usual head/chamber and piston face pics.  I doubt I can pick anything out if you can't, but A) it can't hurt and B) I'm curious.

I'll get some pics, on the failed cylinder you can't see much, iirc at least two valve heads are off and scattered/impregnated in the head and piston.

Hype r cams (W stock gears), white size vlaves... Turn up boost on turbo to LET THE TURBO make WHPZZZZ...

Cams and gears could be sold on HT to fund the down (up?)grade.  Success......

Simple enough solution to the fucking cam niggery and other fail...

Toooo simple????? Maybe if there was a chrome font????

I disagree completely.  The same exact thing would have happened to me if I hadn't done a V2V check on my car, and I personally know of a few people who have had the same thing happen.  There is a reason it says on the tech sheet that skunk2 gives you with the cams "Do not use these cams with oversize valves"  The pro1's are pretty close it is even ok if you back them off a little from centerline, but with the pro2's and pro3's that's a big negative.  This is based purely on personal experience.  V2V has been much more of a concern with the motor's I've put together over P2V.

It still seems funny to me that the thing ran for a few hours, often bouncing off the rev limiter, than with no evidence of anything slipping, there is collision.

Oh I thought it was odd, I mentioned it to Tom, and he kind of ignored it because the car was running really good. That is why no one did anything, the car was running the best it ever had. And while this was ignorant, and we should have done something about it, its still weird it ran so good for so long before failure. I've just never seen a mechanical failure like this where the timing belt or cam gears hadn't worked themselves loose.

Fuck you, I thought it was odd, i got emails/pm to levi saying i didn't think it was right, because he sent me pics of the cam gears. I also stated it the night before we tuned the car. I've done enough pro1 cars to know that the gears either end up with 4 degrees seperation or 0 degrees depending on which version they are.

I never ignored it or you at all. We had a conversation the night before, and i was like i dont think its right, And that i didnt feel comfortable moving them that if you guys wanted to move them it was your decision.

I also spent the whole time on the dyno saying somethings not quite right.

No use letting someone point a fat finger to get a bunch of BS/bickering started.

I'm not pointing fingers. We both agreed we didn't think it was right. And we both figured it was running pretty good the night before the dyno. Nothing has changed since I talked you last, right after it blew up. I said it wasn't your fault and I meant it. If I felt otherwise I would just say it. I don't "hint", I tell. :-*
