ok so i sprayed everything down with break clean to remove loose oil/cabon/shit. and i threw most of it back together. im gonna probably fire it up with no downpipe connected tomorrow and see if it smokes/spits oil/whatever. then go from there.

plan is to slowly hook shit up till i find what is causing the smoke? should work. unless its the motor or turbo then it smokes all the time anyway.

on another, maybe related note? the fuckin catch can is full, again. which is a 1pint can i think. minus a little for fittings and such. kinda wonder if that fucker is overfilling and leaking...maybe getting on the exhaust and smoking? it deff looks oilly on the crossmemeber.
if that fucker has filled 2 times, that would explain probably 80% or more of my actual oil use? think i have put 1.5-2qt in it... and the valve cover gasket was leaking pretty good when i was first ripping on it.... mmm...

oh yeah so my thoughts are that oil is getting onto the exhaust and/or shit is built up in the muffler and slowly burning off? im ok with this bucket smoking a little, and for a while longer for breakin time. but its smoking wait too much for that shit right now. this is like forest fire smoke, not a single small camp fire.

tomorrow i guess...... working towards a hardcore rhmt breakin ripper session. once catch can/oil/most smoke is close to figured out...or i just blow the fucker up and start again with fresh B20...

oh, still dont like CROME Pro.... think im going to buy Neptune RTP/Demon setup (and sell all my shit). if i dont spend shitton on above chaos.

An observation I've seen in the past if you get a light milky substance buildup under oil cap then your not getting good ventilation.

Oil will look like dark shit quick  :noel:

If you get the catch can filled up fast, then to much ventilation.

Oil condensate become supplemental fuel under vac, AFRs are wild.  :?:

Do you have the IM connected to can w/o a PCV?

Do you know for sure you are or not burning some of that oil condensate?

can just has 2 ports that come off the back of the block. 5/8" I think. with a filter. IM isn't connected to it. valvecover is blocked. no PCV valve at all. OBD2 block/head.
hose makes a nice upward flow. no kinks. the can sits right between the battery and fuel filter. so about the height of the head.

ok. drove this bucket to work this morning. maybe got a puff of smoke. but its cold out. so I think my idea (or Russ') is correct. the breather can is filling up with the quickness, once it does it pressurizes the crankcase and shit just blows passed the rings/valve seals? and just smokes.

I drove it to work like everyone else stuck in traffic drives a civic. just nice and calm. no rippers. but it does have a B16 tranny and cruises at 3500+rpms on the freeway. about 25miles, some city/freeway/stop and go. anyway not really a measreable amount of shit in the breather....

think tonight on the way home I'll rip on it harder and for a couple pulls. see how much the breather fills up. but looks like it needs a redesign.

had some solid clouds on the way home   fuck.

breather was maybe 1/3 full. hand full of brake boosts, and a solid merging lane change to...well faster than the others. lol

fucked around with it. pulled the plugs. they all are dry once again. nothing else seems out of sorts. did do some solid decell down hill moves. no smoke. tweeked my map some with it idling in the driveway... no smoke. but mid trip on the freeway it was like a puffy little train. some 30-60mph freeway sucks ballz action.

oh wait. i let her warm up before leaving work. was trying to hit a trouble spot on my map before leaving work(didnt want to act up of course). got to 170ish, give it a rev, and it just wants to dump smoke. held it, reved it. seemed to slow down the smoke some. but still going.

pulled the coupler off the throttle body for the first time...

so yeah. that bitch is clean. oil isnt coming from the compressor side.

You are pressurizing crankcase I bet, did the oil dipstick stay flush?

I had similar issue, I put a pcv between can and crankcase then a brake booster one way valve between oil catch and IM, solved my problem.  :noel:

i have never fired a dipstick. DSM/EVO buddy use to ask and talk about that often. my dipstick fits tight.

also, its seems to be doing it in moderate traffic. when i ripped on it changing freeways it had some decent smoke were i tipped in hard, but not much if any after.

oh yeah, my video... yes i did jump back at the end lol.

up to ~50miles with nothing in the breather can. and seems like little smoke. no coal rollin freight train action.

fingers crossed...

if this works I'm planning on building a new breather box. new bov, intercooler, and charge pipes. and probably Neptune RTP.

so it doesnt seem to be smoking much at all anymore. maybe a puff or 2, still less than 500miles on it...

---

im going to be building a breather box im pretty sure. probably behind the passenger headlight? 2 ports off the back of the block, and 2 out the back off the valve cover...?
this is just an idea vaguely in my head at the moment...

---

intercooler. do i really need a bigger one? with this small ass turbo, and me not wanting much power anyway, im sure this fucker is fine? i dont give a shit that its bent or any other imperfections at the moment. its black and tucked back in there anyway.... i think im leaving it.

---

Neptune RTP vs CROME PRO... maybe i should make a thread in engine management about this. not a question of which is better, we know crome isnt. but which is better for what IM DOING?
once again. i really have no plans on taking this much passed what it is right now. it rips and looses traction on its shitty ass tires anyway. might just throw a MBC (vs PWM in Neptune) for a couple psi.
i already have crome, ostrich, hulog... so its costing me nothing. vs buying Neptune setup for 400bucks. it does have cool features... but any of them i really need for this car?

---

this chinaRS sucks. i hate adjustments on shit that shouldnt need it, but they didnt build it right, so now i have to? DSM valve just works, no adjustment needed. pending purchase right now.
i will be building a new, shorter route chargepipe to go along with it. might shorten up the drivers side to.

---

i want some 17" TE37 or CE28s... lmk if you know of some for Jewishness (<~firefox says thats a word btw lol)  :Jew:

---

think thats all thats on my mind at the moment.... looking for opinions of most of that shit. except the wheels, dont care what you think really... others tho may be open to change if the argument is valid....

is there anything else im missing?

Stick with crome. If you want some sort of boost controls pick up a apexi ebc for Jew. As far as the catch can goes, from my research, if you use the breather ports off the back of the block, on the dyno your fine, but on the street, when you are doing a long pull oil will creep up and fill your box in no time. If you are going to continue to use them I would highly sudgest you do a drainback tube from your can to the front of your pan. That's what I had to do with my ls in the rex and it worked great. Otherwise plug them and use a obd2 ls valve cover and start welding up some alum bungs off of it behind the breather plates.

ok. so i hate this chinaRS bov like i said. also dont care for the long ass pipes.... ones i built are really probably just a hair shorter, heavier, but i like them better lol. also dont care for the blue couplers, and dont like the T-bolt clamps... SOO...

somewhere in this pile of shit scraps is my new chargepipes  O0

thanks to hiprofile for giving me shit about buying a flange i found this in the scrap pile also, began drilling.

had a gasket i acquired at some point.

some test fit

this side was a pain in the ass...

just took like 10" out of it and.....well i was done. no welds. just clean and repaint.   :noel:

mad flux core skills going on   :mexi:

big thanks to Russ/92cxyd for letting me jew him on this  :-*

OEM/DSM 1g valve, for those that are stupid/new... showed up right at the last second, where i probably would have gave up for the day. had checked the mail box a couple times. mail lady just railed the box in there.

so you can kinda see what im doing here. instead of just buying a backdoor intercooler. i just bought 2 90* couplers. i did the same on the CRX.

i will pull this back off at some point to paint it with some texture paint i used on the valvecover....i ran out i guess. didnt feel like a break to go to the store. was on a roll.

i havent decided on weather or not im going to paint the BOV texture/black?? this is actually a nice looking valve. dont think any of my other ones looked this good.

went and did a ripper around the block... ehh. at least it works. i really do like my TiAL BOV better. this one just goes SHHHHHHHHH. just did a couple small pulls tho. see how some full 10psi+ WOT 3-4th does. then ill crush the fucker if it still does it. i would like a little sharper release.
WAY better than the chinaRS tho, this is a OEM part, so it actually WORKS.

2 90* couplers = $26
some clamps = $8
bov flange = free
bends/transition/pipe = free
3" coupler = free
bov = $20
gasket = free

looks like i did pretty well on the budget lol.... btw, old shit is forsale. give me a couple bucks more than i spent above lol. they are aluminum 2.5", blue couplers, T-bolts, etc...

so im sitting at work and get a text...

"sucks to be you"

cocksucker.

ps.... this thing still sucks. thought i may have found the problem when  a hose started pissing water ALL OVER THE ENGINE. the whole engine bay was wet lol. was the bypass hose. for some reason its stupid long hose, so i just trimmed it and back on the road... couple days later, added some more coolant.

so what do i do? spend more money on shit that doesnt relate to fixing current engine issues...
