So a few of you know I just pick this baby up a lil over a week ago.
Its a 01 Ap1 with Ap2 trans and top, plus a cat back. Other then that she is stock, I have added a newer radio and gave her a good cleaning.
Plans are a few small upgrades but nothing major YET:TU:
Day I pick her up

After washing her!

My only complaint thus far is how willing she is to want to drift ha......

Looks good, you pull those stupid stickers off it yet? Needs a hard top too.

Ford 9 " no fucking stupid c clips to fuck with then.
-
8.8
-
8.8 has c clips, and the c clip eliminator kit and a 8.8 cost more than a 9" and they are not as strong. Only thing the 8.8 has going for it is they are easy to find. And on top of that you would have to shorten one side of the rear end and run 2 of the same side axles. To much fab for something that in the end cost more than a 9".
-
But I wouldn't want a live axle period. If you're going to do that just start with non handling junk. :P
Don't ruin it

What about a 8.8" T-bird IR axles? :noel:
Or do what Hatchbone did http://www.realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php/topic,17424.0.html (http://www.realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php/topic,17424.0.html)

Shit, people have put a TON of power down through 8.8's. Not that expensive to upgrade either, especially if he isn't going for "kill" power.
-
If he decided to run it at the track, if the tech actually checks the rear, he will see that it's a 8.8 and if it doesn't have the c clip eliminators they won't let u run it. But then again, it probably won't make enough torque to blow it apart anyways. Just thinking why build something when you can have something else that's strong and cheaper than building another.

Man Hatchbone setup would be a dream for me!

C Clip eliminators are cheap and easy as shit to install. 8.8's are also quite a bit lighter than the 9".
Hell, a stocker that still has a good factory trac-lok would probably hold up for him. Weld the axle tubes, install C clip eliminators and rock it. Even if it has a bad tlok they are easy as shit to rebuild and add an extra friction clutch to for added capacity.
