Title: No power to pin 5 of main relay? 93 civic sedan
Post by: Tim on February 24, 2014, 02:07:48 AM
Car had a short in the trunk harness that melted a nest of wires. Now it won't start.
Had the guy cut all the melted wires going back to the trunk to isolate the shorts
Start with the basics, no spark no injector pulse. Realize no power to Ecu cause no main relay.

Has battery power at pin 1
No power at pin 5
Manual says check acg s fuse under the dash 15 amp, but the fuse diagram doesn't show which fuse that is.
Next step would be to check for a break in the wire from that fuse to the main relay.

Anyone know which fuse that is?

Thanks I'll tell him to look there.

I really want to know which fuse it is though so I can have him check the fuse and wire in between.
I think its stupid the fuses aren't referenced by their number in the manual, or at least by the name that will be listed in the fuse box section.

idk, found a better explanation of the fuses on a google search over my shitty phone.
not sure why my manual lists it as SRS and pictures I see online manuals explain what it really is.

But it was this little bitch right here.

Got a list of shit that goes through it as well.
I'll pass the info on to my buddy and wash my hands of this pos.
I wasted more time than I said I would already, if it was me I'd part out the car or swap in a good harness.
I don't fuck with melted harnesses.  especially ones melted this bad.

car finally left my garage at 4:30 am today.
guy wouldn't give up and supposedly everything works now.
soldered for a couple hours a night this weekend, used 3 rolls of electrical tape haha.
alternator was melted inside as well as dozens of wires throughout the entire chassis harness.
I told him to sell the car as soon as he can, he wants to b or h swap it.
Glad I didn't touch it, just shook my head and worked on my own projects

Yeah forgot you did basically the same thing just to get back to school one weekend.
Weren't we supposed to do a clutch or something and instead you spent the entire time splicing speaker wire into your harness
