Ksport or GC/ koni
« on: November 17, 2009, 02:10:53 PM »

Ok like I posted, in a few months I will be getting a new coil over setup for my crx. If you had the money which would you get and why. To those that have used either of the 2 what are your thoughts, pro's and cons? I want facts not hear say!

I have Koni's and GC's on Both the EG and my daily EK.. Love em.. I think Ksports are used primarly by people who want to say they have adjustable suspension and don't really care about quality.

Facts... Top SCCA Guys use Koni's , all the fact I need.

Aren't Ksports made in Cambodia?

GC/Koni because thats what I have experience with. You can soften it up for the bitches and harden it up for straightening out some curves.

GC/Koni. Trevor72 and UrbanIndian both have run K-sports and had problems with them leaking/blowing within a year.

Whatever you do don't get th race proven dampers, get the china suspension that's anodized a bright fucking color so that you can get plenty of e-blowjobs from the HT crowd.

Ground controls are just downright the way to go. Custom spring rates and give them a call

Tell them your plans and they will set you up with a kit that will work,oh  lifetime warranty and eibach springs you cant go wrong

Pretty much.

I found 400/300 lb springs Jay @ GC recommended me too much for a street CRX HF, frankly for a pure street car weighing 2200 or under wanting performance I'd mimick the Eibach Pro-kit rates of 275/225.  I'm also an old bald failure and mild, but a lot of people agree with me anyway.  But, I did tell the guy I drove the vehicle hard and only cared about handling excellence.   20/20 hindsight.

400/300 on a street CRX?  Ouch.

The 350/250 combo on my 90 CRX Si is quite unpleasant, although I did DD it for about 2 years on that setup.  They are mated to some very old KYB AGX shocks, so that might be part of the ride harshness.

Both of my hatches are rocking all Eibach or Eibach/K&W suspension.  Pretty satisfied with both setups for their intended purposes.

The CRX could definitely benefit form better dampers.

400f/600r in my 92 cx.  with the rear konis on full stiff, my back hurts after any length of driving over 30 min.

CALL koni and gc to see what they suggest for what you want to do.  they know more about it than anyone on the board.

from OCO

Quote from: Ksport_Matt;72382
Hey, my name's Matt and I'm the Marketing Manager here at Ksport USA. I found this thread via Google, and just wanted to clear some things up.
First and foremost, I'm not here to sell anything. I'm only  here to answer questions, and debunk myths. I hope to become a long-term member of onecamonly, and be able to assist members with questions regarding Ksport products both before, during, and after purchase.

The the OP, I would suggest you determine exactly what you want out of your car and its suspension before making such a big decision. The wrong suspension can make a car terrible to drive.

And about race-proven products, a local Honda Time Trial driver, and president of NASA AZ, recently switched his Koni/GC setup for a basic, run of the mill, "Off the shelf" Ksport Kontrol Pro kit and made NO changes, other than spring rates. Any of our customers can order custom springs from us to do the same thing that Tage Evanson has done. He's even been nice enough to share his rates with the community. (14k front/12k rear for his K20-powered, Nitrous-fed EG Hatchback)

Tage has been setting new records, and breaking old records, at just about every event since he switched from the Koni/GC setup. He was running custom-valved Konis, and I believe custom top-hats. He's VERY close to breaking Chris Rados FWD record on a particular track.

Aside from Evanson, another time trial driver has won the NASA Nationals this year on Ksports, in his Sentra SE-R. Joe Ippolito dominated the Southeast TTE class this year, on Kontrol Pros with custom spring rates.

On the other end of the spectrum, I know several people who have Ksports just because of how low you can go with our coilovers.

Sorry for the novel guys, just wanted to clear that up. If anyone has any questions please feel free to give me a call, email me, or pm me here.

@crxvtec91- Good luck on choosing a suspension setup. There's a ton of options, and really it comes down to what you want out of your suspension and how much you're willing to spend.

Thanks,

Matt C.
