Title: Removing that evap canister without gas smell?
Post by: ifly87 on February 12, 2010, 02:59:21 PM
I am taking out that round black evap canister, i'm sick of looking at it, and theres a little cap on the top of it thats busted anyway. There is a vent line for the fuel tank going to it I believe do you just cap that thing off or put a filter on it? also what about that valve on the back of the IM? Anything Else I should know or and decent write ups? Looked around a little bit and there really isnt any good info on that. I've seen people have removed them but then get teh constant smell of gasoline, I dont want that. Whats the big deal since the fuel cap is vented anyway?

U cant just cap that vent of for the tank, u might be able to find some kind of filter that would cut down on the smell but id just leave it.

well there's some kind of check valve build into a little cap on the top of it, and it keeps blowing apart in boost and pissing me off, the thing is pretty wasted already. grrrrrr

I just traced the hard line back to the tank, disconnected it from the tank, and routed the tank vent via a hose to the rear LCA, and zip tied it. No gas smell here, although I like ethanol anyways. :)
