Shit. Im here at the auction cutting keys for a few cars that they dont have keys for. Its really windy today as well. im putting a lock back together and i feel a gust of wind and something start to irritate my eye. I look in the mirror. fuckin key shaving...
So i go off to use their eye flush station. Flush the eyeball and called it all good. Just got back to the car and i feel irritation in my fuckin eyelid. shit. off to the clinic now

The human eye will usually flush things like that out but if it doesnt cost you anything to go to the doctor fuck waiting a day or two

Actually the eye wont flush it out. the shaving gets pushed into the eye. Then it scars over and eventually becomes a floater. I have enough experience with metal in the eye. My eye doctor personally knows my name. I go about 6 times a summer

well the 2 times I had metal shavings in my eye they came out after a day or so. Doctors lie dude thats how they make money what do you think your eye is doing when you create tears in wind/dirt.
Dont run your eyes thats what is pushing it in deeper

There are a few unsafe things I'll tollerate, but screwing my eyes up isn't one of them. I always wear some sort of goggles + ear muffs. I can take very loud noise, but doens't mean I have to.
Too bad it wasn't steel, that's easy to get out with a huge magnet.

+1 I always wear safety glasses. I've had shrapnel find its way into my face which isn't a big deal but I'm not messing around w/my vision. Best of luck to ya.

my blades on my cutters are brand new too. they cut too good and leave typical metal shavings larger than usual

I know the feeling. I got some metal in my eye and it took a day and a half to finally come out. I was so fucking miserable and was pretty much gonna go to the doctor if it didn't come out soon. Shit sucked but I learned my god damn lesson. I smile when coughing up the $$ for quality safety glasses that fit well now.

My dad had a piece of metal end up lodged in his eye when working with a wire wheel.
Went to the doctor and they prescribed him something.
It made him turn red and scratchy, turns out he had an allergy to whatever it is.
Even if it comes out I'd be too paranoid. I like my eyes.

Damn Jay. Hope it works out for you, like others have said I don't fuck with my eyes. Get that shit checked out man, you can't fuckin replace your vision. Let us know how it works out.

Happened to me before, and when it was gone I could still feel it. Turns out it scratched the eye, not a big deal really but it was bugging the shit out of me because I thought something was still in there. The doc put me on antibiotic eye drops and it started to feel better in a couple days, completely healed in a week.

Metal + Eye juices = Rust which in turn = Eye buffing. Im good on eye buffing.

wow that shit sucks man, hopefully you get it out of your eye, I know where your comming from man. I had laquer thinner splashed onto my face at work, shit burned like a motherfucker, but I musnt have gotten much behind my safety glasses because they were fine after I washed them out.

i work in a machine shop part time and do metal fab the rest of the time and i have never had a piece of metal get stuck in my eye that i couldnt get out, and i NEVER use safety glasses. everytime i get metal in my eye i rub it and it eventually tears out. maybe im really lucky because everyone i know has had bad experiences with metal in the eye and they dont even work with it..

I never thort of using a magnet to get it out before, Rhmt ftw. When i go to the doctors they fill up your eye with a yellow fluid which helps them find any metal particles. I wear safty glasses as you only get one set of eyes :yes:

i've allways used safety glasses and the one time i didnt because i had sweat rollin like no other i get a metal shaving in my eye,
left it alone for one day thinking it would come out my itself but didnt...next day it burned when i blinked, like it was rubbing my i lid raw so i got some eye flush and rubbed it with my finger till it came out. now i have a scare on my eye.

im the nerd who always wears eye protection. Anything fucking with my eyesight is something I dont want to fuck with. You know at Napa they have those sexy eye protection glasses at the counter, ive got a pair of those.

my metal in the eye story:
one day my eye started twitching all day long and it was itchy as hell. i had no idea why.
had my wife look at it and there was something there.
went to my doctor and they removed a tiny metal flake from my eye. they told me rubbing it could scratch my cornea. best thing to do is flush out or lift your top eye lid over your bottom eye lashes to remove it on your own.
couple days go by and itching comes back... go back to emergency and turns out there is fucking RUST in my eye that was left behind by the metal flake. so they have to BURN IT OUT OF MY FUCKING EYE! no freezing or any woman shit like that, straight up he burns it out with this little pen like burner that zaps out small chunks of your eye to remove the rust. he has a look after he's done and thinks he go it all and says to just keep a close watch for a couple days to see if it starts to get irritated at all.
