Title: is a ps2 connector

able to fry a power supply? i was hooking up an old keyboard to the comp, and a spark came at me from the psu?wtf, tried starting the damn thing and nada.

doubt it. ps2 is only 5v iirc. Was the pc on at the time?

maybe a cap went bad and just happened to touch off when you plugged the keyboard in and put a drain on it.

Correct. ps2 only has 5 volts, if there was a short in the wiring its definitely enough to shut down the system but not likely to fry the whole thing, unless theres a short on the mobo giving it direct access to the 5v rail which is unlikely. Im assuming this is an atx system? I would try unplugging the psu from the mobo and then plugging it back in to see if that lets it turn back on. If not, then unplug the the psu from the mobo and short out the green wire on the connector to ground, the fan should turn on in the psu, if not the psu is likely toast.

I've seen the same thing kill older motherboards.

Been a while though.
