does it have to be brand new?

ive yet to shoot a gun ive liked better then my sig. obviously you cant touch one new  for under 800 but i got my p239 used for 599 with night sights and 2 mags. it could have passed as new.

sig p226  they can be had for that price
beretta    possibly
gun shows are your friend!

i personally hate handguns with polymer. they typically shoot like shit, are uncomfortable to hold and dont retain there value as much.

didnt realize you posted about a sig.
i rock a sig p220 and i love it. i like shooting it better than my para LD and my colt gold cup.
they just feel right to me

Well i would like New, But if it is used and in great condition i would go with that. I have heard alot about sig's, good stuff no?

Il check out gunbroker.com and see what kind of things i can come up with.

What are the main dif. between P239 and the P226?

The P99 i shot had polymer grip and stuff, and i actually enjoyed how it shot.
I also shot a taurus .45 that shot pretty decent as well.

Not quite, at least as much as they used to be. Most gun show dealers will try to fuck everyone out of their money unless you do your homework ahead of time.

Brand new Glocks can be had for less than your budget. Also, the CZ handguns are very well made and have a strong following. Most aren't polymer if that's not what you want, but they do have some plastic guns.

Most of it is really personal preference...If it were me and I had that kind of budget, I'd pick up either a new Glock or XD. Want to like the Glock better, but being a lefty the XD would probably work better. Would have no issue with a Sig either, great weapons.

Take her to a range that rents handguns, try and few and pick which one fits best for her.

im not sure the difference. it might be the firing type (SA or DA or both), barrel lengths etc. im not sure. all i know is the p239 is SA/DA so its nice to shoot and you dont have a 10lb trigger pull every time.

mine is a polymer grip stainless slide. its relatively light and easy to handle, i can reach the decocker, mag release, slide release with my thumb, which is more then i can say for the glocks ive handled.

I have not shot a Glock before, ive looked at them, don't really know if i like the style, but i will shoot one before i buy whatever gun i decide on.
Care to educate me on what you mean by CZ handguns? I am kind of a newbie to hand guns, owned shot guns and rifles my whole life, only handgun before yesterday that i have shot is a old school ruger .357 revolver  and "The Judge".

I did really enjoy how that Walther P99 shot.

I'd say it'd depend on whether she EVER plans to carry it with her outside of the house. If so, full size sucks major dick. If she DOES ever plan to carry it, I'd still look into the M&P compact, Walther PPS, or a small revolver.

Another promising small handgun I looked into for Stealthwife is the new Taurus pt709 "slim".

Oh, and post pics of that bangin hot ass.  :noel:

I love my XD-40 Sub Compact.  Carry it every day,  Have over 3k rounds through it and no issues yet.  It shoots like a dream and is pretty accurate to boot.

I have an XD and love it, and my father has a Walther P99 and loves it...  Don't think you can go wrong either way.

I'm not sure on the price of the XDm, but it may be in the price range and you may like it better.  Try them then buy one :P

The larger XDs shoot pretty nice also.  Definatlly worth going to a gun store and renting everything they got.  Go shoot them and figure out what you like.  I am doing that with my wife right now to figure out what to get her.  So far she doesn't like the kimber THANK GOD!!!

What was it about the Taurus you hated? You're honestly the first person I've heard of that was that blatant about disliking shooting any 1911 platform.

I loved shooting my dad's Springfield 1911, don't think I'd choose one for concealed carry, but it was a great weapon to shoot at the range.

If you dont like 1911's either a, you havent shot a good one, or b, youre just a stupid fucking retard.

There is a reason why 90% of competition shooters use 1911's, most accurate, reliable, and best trigger out of any gun.
