Title: Limit Straps
Post by: 88dx on January 31, 2010, 11:10:06 PM
So im working on finishing the front suspension on my EG and ive had these limit straps for ever that ive never used. How many of you guys have used them and think they actually help when drag racing? A buddy has a set on his car and im not convinced they help. MY car just has a cheap set of coil overs with skunk2 shocks, and a weir racing DIY traction bar setup in front.

Pic of staps

So are they worthless or worth it?

I never have used a set, so i didn't vote. But i would assume they would help keep the front end down. correct?

thats the idea but, I think some stiff springs in the rear will help keep the front down better. Just getting some ideas

Fuck that, put some rubber spring helpers in the back springs and call it done. But no, ive never used them.

Well yeah i would think the rear end dropping would be a good thing to prevent. but would the front still raise?

Trevor72 put some in and his car stopped flopping around but if I remember correctly his 60' times were never as good after.

Why is that? I only put 2 in each side, I still have a little squat when I leave the line, but not any more than say 2" or so. I only have 275lb springs in the rear of the crx.

Because the front end will still raise up on launch, and your giving it better leverage to do so.

I voted yes.

The point of the straps is to stop the camber from changing during launch.  So the goal is to have zero degrees at full extension(a dynamically flat foot print).  I've used them and recorded my best 60'(1.78) with a little slack...

for $5 at the junkyard, definitely worth it:

Before I put the straps on I was pulling mid to high 1.8's with front springs in the rear.
