Got a chance to really fuck some shit up over the past couple months. Friend bought a 700 sq ft condo for 33K, and the old fucks hadn't changed anything, or ever stopped smoking in it since the 70's. He hands me the keys, and says tear the whole thing out, and do what you would do.....and here's what I did.

speaking of which, time to get to work Jew

There are lots of small fucked up things like that in this house. It is what it is though. Bought it cheap, and will have a really nice return on it in a few years, I think. 2 of the bedrooms are like that also. We gotta fix that shit for doors. The kitchen wall, I am not real worried about.
-
damn. homes are cheap out there.
im looking for a home up here in sac currently in the 200k-250k price range.
-
damn frank, thats a serious project. You doing that all yourself?
Looks good

Worst comes to worst.
That shit looks like a perfect place to live to me. Why is it so damn cheap?
Nice make over Stealthnog. How much did you make off that job? Going by Florida standards(the only place I've done construction), you would be dumb if you did it for any less than 10k. You probably took 7 or 8 though.
-
That shit looks pretty awesome now.
That place seriously doesn't have central air?
???

250k would get you a super nice place here....and property.
Ive got about 65k into my house right now, including the purchase and I think I will get 100k+ for it. I am doing everything myself. The only thing I didn't do was refinish the bathtub, and really....doing it the way the dude did it...I couldn't have done it much cheaper.
My house is the perfect starter home.
-
Frank, I suspect that behind the wood paneling you'd find a simple (and more modern?) wall to paint. Wrap the fireplace with something like this, and flat panel tv where the mirror is. After that you just need a tree swing out front hanging off one of those monsters.

Its no man's land thats why its so cheap. No jobs out there. The area has alot of section 8 nogs from LA but crime isnt that bad. Its a chill ass little town out in the middle of the desert. They have a tight ass park and also have rc car racing almost every weekend its the big thing out there from kids to adults.
If you love roads that go for miles that are straight and wide its heaven. Most were built for mining which is basically dead in the deserts now so the roads have no traffic and almost never a cop. Its the last places in california where street racing still happens all the time.
You have willow springs, famoso dragstrip and buttonwillow raceway all within an hour. Also los angeles country dragstrip use to be only a 45 minute drive but rumors are that LA county in the deserts will get a dragstrip again since there are investors finally throwing down some bread.
Honda also owns a track out in California City that they use for testing. That is the job to get out there or get a job with the miltary bases at edwards afb or chine lake naws.

Looks like the condo in the movie "American Psycho", nicely done.

Steve, not sure on the fire place. I really want to do something with it, just not sure what. Right now, its not really a priority...but something I am thinking about.
and we do have a swing out front. That picture of the front of the house is almost a year old. Like I said, I really need to take some more pictures.

Wasn't finished long ago, still needs some crap done, like curtains (which are being measured today) and a bunch of other random shit.
Too bad it's not mine. 21 yr old sister's place, doing well :P
:'( Where did I go wrong
-
Too bad it's not mine. 21 yr old sister's place, doing well :P
For 250k, I'd take that house anyday. Sad part is, it's in a state that could vanish tomorrow and I'd give a fuck less. So, this sister of yours......."KEN I GET DAT NUMBA?".
-
Too bad it's not mine. 21 yr old sister's place, doing well :P
:'( Where did I go wrong
Fuck that would be a Million+ where I am.

Yah actually they got it appraised for over 300k but they did all the contracting and shit themselves and paid cash so it came out a bit cheaper...
I'm still renting :?:
-
I just bought a shit hole for just over $300k. One of these days I will even get some pics up of it. :-[
-

Yah...but I bet income is a bit higher where homes are that expensive.
I'll probably stick around this area til I die. Incomes are good and cost of living is cheap. I just need to grab a nice plot of land...subdivisions popping up everywhere in the country, property value going up every year.
-
My house still its as it did when I packed all the shit up and sat outside. I dont need much, computer room/bowflex, footon, flat screen, and appliances and I'm good to go. I'm rarely home and I rather keep my garage and fridge stocked with stuff I like. But slowly refinishing what was left unfinished.

that's a 250k home here, with 5 acres.

It is when the oil and gas market is up, when it is down like right now not so much.
Lots of foreclosures, from rig pigs that are off work, avg house price has dropped by over $60K in the last two years, it is why I bought now, as things are a cheap as they will ever get, and oil and gas are showing signs of life again.
-
Jyrc, funny thing is that they bought a 5 acre lot with it :P. Not all of it is cleared, but i'd estimate 3 acres are.
Dvst8r - yah, bout the same here. It's not hard to find a decent brick 3br home with around an acre lot and 2 car garage for under 100k
I need to get a project home...and a garage would be fucking tits as I'd be able to get a lot more work done. Today, its fucking snowing AGAIN and i wont get shit done.

Things might be different in Canada, but the US housing market isn't at bottom yet. Within 9 months millions of foreclosures are going to be hitting the market.
Wanna venture a guess as to what's going to happen?

Franklin, you need many things, but thinner walls isn't one of them. ??? Does the house currently, or had in the past, provisions for being moved via it's own axles? :D
JYR- if you do some exterior work, make those overhangs bigger. Even extending them another4 or 6 inches will make the house look 1 million times better, for very little time and monies

lol.
That is the result of phone + low light + lens covered in pocket lint
I don't know what switches turn on what and didn't feel like figuring it out.

I hear ya on that. Not sure exactly what I want to do in that aspect. Its more of a "what kind of return will I get on the investment" frame of mind I have on this house, rather than...what do I want with it. Know what I mean? :-\
In that picture...where the window is, I have a pella sliding glass door. Totally forgot to mention that. -that will make a nice opening to the backyard, rather than running through the entire house, and through the garage to get to the yard. Also right outside of that is a stone pad I built for my grill.
