my daily's hood is not opening by the cable :'(
Its a 98 si and i remember it being difficult once, but was never a problem again,
the time it was difficult i just pulled hard on the hood and it opened,.... im thinking the latch could use some lube...
any suggestions to get it open in the mean time that doesn't involve breaking anything??

Cut the cable at the latch end and leave about 24" (pull it from the sheeth) Then using a crimp style connector loop it around. Then just tuck it under the front bumper. When you want to open the hood , just pull the loop.
did this on my EF , works great , no fucking around , ya you could just fix it , but this is more the badasser

That girl has one serious clit.

I used to have to depress on the hood (smack it) while someone pulled on the release. I think the latch and spring were just finicky.

That chicks face is kinda manly. :?:

I'm going to try this. Apparently this is common in EK shitboxes.

thanks for that contribution tubby :P
The extra hands saved the day, they should have designed those latches with a stronger spring.

Yep, pretty common for 6th gen Civaks.
The hood cable was broken on my faggy green POS when I bought it. A new cable form the parts store was only $15 or so.
I did something similar to what Lowerit suggested until I got a new cable.
Motherfucker is still hard as hell to pull. One of these days I will spend some time to figure that issue out.

I had that problem with my 96 hatch. I replace the cable, lubed the latch and adjusted the stops. If the stops are too high on the sides it "preloads" the hood and makes it hard to open.

that's what mine was like. i broke the fucking latch, and now have to pull off the kick panel to pull the cable.

Junkyard cable. If you have junkyards that you can drive through, like we have here, find you a cable, and stick it under your seat. FREEBIE
