sometimes on cold mornings, usually only once 1st drive of the day , my 95 trooper will make a fucked clicking sound like a basball card or pop can is stuck in the front wheel like a bike, sound comes from the front wheel/s im almost positive.
if i go in reverse for a few feet, it stops it %99 of the time. this happens even if i didnt use 4wd the day before, so its like there half engaging even when not used overnight or somthing, i dont even know how they work but i know im supposed to "reverse at least 1 meter to disengage 4wd" cause its not push button
any of u backwoods nigs know whats goin on here?

SOunds like the hubs are fucked up..
My old 81 K5 did the same shit...
Put some warns in it and call it good
-
What's going on is the typical mode of failure for auto locking hubs. man up and replace that garbage with manual hubs.
Problem solved.
-
are the cv making noise? or are you sure you think its a hub prob?
usually they will get stuck in the unlocked position. i really have never heard of the hubs making noise because of cold. i've heard of them getting frozen unlocked when its really cold... but manual hubs will do that too

I have personally had the OEM Chevy ones go bad and click while in 2WD. Behaved exactly like thwe OP described... Its not unheard of fo isuzus to do the exact same thing... Not very suprisingly.

I have seen a couple of new Fords do the same exact thing. Auto hubs are garbage, and they always have been.

The noise you describe was the front axle ujoints in my dodge. I hope for your sake its a ujoint(s) not hub(s).
-
my troop had same thing, solid axle from toy fixed it O0 O0 O0

my ford superduty ones have been through hell in back with 800 ft pounds of torque. I click it in to 4x4 for street racing and click it out at about 50 mph. But I must agree 99% of auto hubs are shit.

Lol. I have seen two in the 7 months that I have been back to turning wrenches.

6.0l of love.

i dont think its a u joint or axle, by going in reverse stops it i mean i go in reverse then drive forward and the sound is gone

The good ole 6 uh oh.
:P
I honestly haven't been around them all that much except when they break, and that has only been 2 of them. They do seem to be a hell of a lot more responsive than the old 7.3 PS.
-
have you been around a heavily modded one? I need twin turbos next but for now money wise it will have to do.

No sir. I would like to experience it though as I would imagine that it is a hell of a ride.

They use the 7.3 headstuds, and typical Ford flaming fucking EGR failure. All my dieselhead friends say to stud them and block off EGR and they are awesome.
