we had one at the race shop years ago (cant remember what brand) and couldnt do shit with it because the cars are rear wheel drive, we just used it to get the car on the scales.

only draw back i can see with a front wheel drive car is the exhaust or mabye fuel pump/tank shit. what do you guys think. this one is $950 from harbor freight.

looks like it would be good for doing suspension work and not too much else.

the only time i have seen one used is at a local tire gas station/shop that uses it for quicky tire repairs, etc. And at a body shop to raise lowered cars so he could spray paint easier.

Spend $200 on a decent jack and some stands, you'd be better off.

come to think of it i once changed the fuel sender in a vw bus on one of these lifts. might have just been the bus was so bad i didnt even notice, but if i recall, we had the whole engine/tranny sitting on the cart in about an hour just like we had a regular lift. im just wondering if anyones ever tried to pull a front wheel drive engine on one of these before.

i dont have a tall shop, probably never will, so if i want a lift, this is pretty much it. but i have to agree on the price, when hf sells a two post lift for $2200, one of these for $950 just seems kinda stupid. there has to be used ones for cheap somewhere. also, i think you can dig a small pit in the floor and make them disappear completely too.  i just never really thought about this kind of lift before, the one at the race shop just collected dust until we had to weigh the car.

We got one in the body shop portion of the shop. I've done some work with it. But you are way better off with a two post lift. I've swapped rearends, irs sections, fuel pumps, and really could actually drop some engine out with it.
