alright havent been on here in awhile...
Bought a 91 hatch to daily drive, found out it had a blown headgasekt and removed the head to find out that acouple of the cam journels are fucked. I lost my job about a month ago so im looking for the cheap way out. I have a y7 head in great shape. So i put it on. Now my question is. Am i gonna have a issue with cam timming?? What cam gear should i use? Also i have the problem of that 1 head bolt on the old head sits up higher then the rest and has a more shallow hole in the block. So now with the y7 head the bolt in the upper left hand side is bottomed out with about 1/2 inch left. Do u know what head bolt i could use to fix this??
cliffnotes: y7 head d15b1 block what cam gear to use and what headbolt to use on the upper left hand side because 1 hole is more shallow then the rest with the y7 head on.

with crank at TDC, set cam at TDC with Y7 cam gear, then slap on 88-95 cam gear, timing belt will slide right on........unless you moved it.....

put washers on that 1 head bolt. i have done it before. turbob16hatch may have an extra y series stud for that one

lol, i thought about it. I actually found a set of old y8 head bolts and they look like the perfect length so im gonna use those. Now i just need a y7/y8 cam gear and im good..... i hope..
