Y8 oil pumps have low volume. Usually mains/rod bearing on #4 will have issues with high mileage.

Just boost it. Glustic has his boosted totally stock and its fine.

Boost what you got now and build a d16 on the side.

the main issue with the Y series blocks is the crank has half the oiling holes for the bearings.

anyways, boost the motor and stop being a pussy.

or go get an LS and boost that.

i had my old y8 boosted on 10psi for over 2 years and i never had a problem. but it was tuned and i didnt beat on it all that much. pretty much all comes down to proper maintanance and doing it right. just boost it and build something on the side or save up for your LS.

I have replaced way too many y series blocks with spun bearings. I have 3 in my shop alone right now.

Enjoy what you have and source a nice clean d16z6 block and do a vitara build when cash is in hand.

Sighs thats why I wish I couldn't hear so good. I can hear the tell tale sounds of bottom end bearigs starting to go in my y8 block........I have vitara's and rods ready to go and a free a6 block to put them in. It's just that well I'm really lazy and 2 hours and 70 bucks worth of sealed power bearings is easier then building a motor and then swapping it in.

Ive don this twice. damn maybe when it warms up.

The first one I replaced was back in around 2003. Stock car, rod knock at around 140k

with low cost of vitara's and modern tuning abilities B series makes absolutely no sense to build anymore. theyre obsolete if a 20 year old honda can get anymore obsolete then they already are.

fuck an ls.   all you find now a days is LS's with super high mileage and pushing oil thru valve seals and rings.  source a b20 and be all good.

Just stop thinking and boost the fucker. I did a comp test and boosted my shit at 169000. If you take care of your car and get it tuned you will be fine. If you do blow it a b20 can be had for dirty cheap.
