i dont trust myself with a bike.  especially a crotch rocket.  probably wouldn't be alive long enough to put a new inspection sticker on it.  i wouldn't mind having a nice dirt bike as i'm surrounded by woods and mountians though

why all the ninja hate?
I don't hate ninjas, I own a naked version of a zx9r.  Anyways, I think the hate is that a new rider has no business on that bike.  Your dad should have discouraged you in purchasing it as your first bike.  That thing has to make well over 100hp at the wheel, will probably lift the front wheel in the first 3 gears using just throttle and no clutch.  Here is my z1000

It is, but he wont live if he doesnt know what he is doing. i learned on a 250 rebel, then moved up to a cx500. bike suits me just fine so im in no need to upgrade. i laid down a month olf cbr600rr doing 4 mph first time i ever road a bike, i didnt know what i was doing and i gassed it too hard and it popped right out from under me.

The only time my car dosn't run is when I take it apart. Runs fine now. So I would say it dosn't run 5% of the time.

As fas as the license goes, unless you are gonna buy this god damn motor, don't worry about it.

I'm waiting for you to understand that you have a redheaded stepchild on your hands and drop the price so that I'm interested, then I'll drive down there and pull it apart and find it's fucked up so I walk with a set of used rods and a windage tray for about what I could get them shipped to my door.  But, I get to hang out with you so it's O K.

im a firm beliver in it doesnt matter what you get for your first bike, if your a idiot and cant control a bike you can kill yourself on your moms rebel 250 or a gsxr1k ,  i wouldnt waste money on a 250 for the purpose of learning. maybe pull a couple spark plugs? lol

If this is your first bike, take the MSF course. It will teach you the basics that will keep you from getting killed. Also when I started I found a parking lot and practiced alot before I went out in traffic. I started with a much smaller bike then you(250cc), but as long as you respect it I think you'll be ok.

only thing MSF taught me was the turnthe handle bars the opposite way your turning to force the bike to lean into a turn, other than that, didnt teach me shit.

And im glad you like your bike, but its a POS, you should beat it to shit and not give a fuck.

I think the msf is a good idea for a lot of people.  They teach you a lot of low speed stuff which takes a while to learn on your own.  Most people don't know the benefits of the rear brake that have never taken it nor do they know not to use the front brake at parking lot speeds.

in the stae of ri its a required course.... after u get a 30 day permit w/ restrictions then u can get your licence... and i didnt get this bike as a stunt bike but as a cheaper way of getting to school ( 45 min drive every day in my boosted civic ) also i have had some rideing experance on dirtbikes so that should help a lil ....and i already know what it feels like to fall went off a twenty foot jump supermaned (not because i wanted to) bike flew out from under me and i dropped on my stomach straight down....also was doin donuts  bike spun out came back around and the rear whell chewed up my right thigh ...shit sucked ...u live u learn

nice bike Becarfull though its not you its other asshats o.n the mean streets of RI

quoted for truth thanks man

I use the front brake all the time at all speeds why wouldn't you use it going slow? I used the back break only to save the front pads. Never racing so no real need to use them at the same time for better performance

If you hit it hard enough at extremely low speeds or slowly moving the bike around it can lock up the front wheel, which can make you drop the bike.  I use both brakes when I stop while riding normal.  Trail braking helps a lot while riding agressive, if you hit a corner too fast, just use the rear brake a little bit.  Also at low parking lot speeds, doing u turns or tight turns I like to ride the rear brake and ride the clutch a little bit.  If you rev it up a little bit the bike feels more stable.

you will love it. i love my bike. my friend had a 05cbr600 and i rode it every chance i got. then i finally got a bike this past year an 05cbr1000 and i ride it EVERY chance i can.
ive loved my cars, dirtbikes, quads, snowmobiles, but nothing compares to the feeling a big bike gives you.
make sure you buy a GOOD brain bucket.  arai, and shoei are my two top picks, no bullshit off brands or ones you can get for under $100, you wanna keep your face the way it is right? also a pair of gloves, riding boots and a nice jacket will make the world of difference with comfort and safety.

I think its going to take you a few years to save any money if thats the real reason lol.  Its not like you went from Hummer to a moped, youre going from a 30ish mpg car to a 750 that cost $2700 plus tags and insurance.

yea and the bike prob gets 40-45mph. maybe 50 i guess if he babies it all the time

plus the cost of replacing tires at much shorter intervals.

It's tough to argue with that logic but I'll try. I think it's good for 2 reasons, first if someone has never been on a motorcycle taking the class at least makes them aware of all the safety crap you don't need to think twice about in a car.  Second it weeds out the people that need a lot more practice to be on a motorcycle, they failed 5 out of 20 in the class I was in.

if i keep the bike for a few years then yes it will even out ( atleast to me) plus i dont want to put a shit ton of miles on my civic ...tryin to pro-long the life of the motor and tranny and car alltogether...

yea isurance is gunna run me $400 and reg is $250 plus another 50 for the two licences i need (learners permit and full rider)  shit sucks but in the end it will be worth it in my eyes plus now i can start learnig about motorcycle mechanic work ...... and to the people that are about to say shit about me not being able to figure out my check engine light a few weeks ago GO FIST FUCK YOUR MOTHERS ASS !!!! the only reason it took so long was cuz i didnt have time, even that little amount...

DWO is not nearly as bad as DWB, no not driving while black, although that is a problem aswell, yet this pertains to JD in the sense that DWB means driving while BALD, the glare from the baldness of which your witty replies come from, also known as your head, is so intense it can literally blind other drivers, in some cases start fires in extremely dry brush, and put trances on overweight toothless trailerpark whores of which you have children with.  Then the next day they go....
