looks like the crooks in the house have passed this anti american bill.
now if you don't buy insurance... they will be able to put you in jail and/or make you pay huge fines, if you can't put you in jail.
very bad day for the US. buy it might accelerate the collapse of the federal government. which may be one good thing to come of it.
total disgrace.
i wonder if this is the US our founders envisioned... where if you don't BUY a service from a corporation. you will be fined or jailed. totally anti-liberty.
i hope this kick starts succession movements in a lot of states.

Johnny, you simply care too much. This country was gone long ago. The only thing you have to look forward to is following the guy that fires the first shot to start the resurection. Be ready, and that's that. :-\

i wonder if the founders envisioned mega-corporations that worship profit above all else, pushing them to offer as little service as possible for the highest price feasible, and are also regulated/overseen in government by their former employees/clients. (do some reading on monsanto corp)
i wonder if the founders imagined that the justice system they set up would so outrageously favor the entity that can pile the most cash onto the scales, regardless of right or wrong.
i wonder if the founders ever could have imagined the economy being so fragile that the people who didn't have health insurance, or didn't have appropriate healthcare to cover their exorbitant medical expenses, could indirectly drag the housing and mortgage industry- and with it our economy- into the depths of hell when they couldn't pay their bills anymore.
i wonder if the founders ever imagined that our economy would be based more heavily on finance (moving money around to make more money) than production.
i'm sorry, but you're a fool if you think this bill is the end of the united states. i find it humorous that the people who claim to love the country so much are the ones writing it off as being so ridiculously fragile.

I felt most of your points, and will defend telling both the government, as well as the insurance companies to quit fucking me, but that doesn't mean I'm willing to pick either side, other than telling them to fuck off.
Now, to your point(?) that health insurance/coverage/bills, brought down the housing market....and therefore....the economy? ? ? lol, roflomgwtfbbq? ???
While the insurance industry is fucking people 80% as hard as the IRS, I fail to see such a wild claim, and therefore shall write you off. So sowry.

Get a job you lazy piece of shit. Do you currently enjoy paying for all of wal-mart's employee's healthcare through you're taxes? You have been for the last how many years.....

Hit the Brakes: State Governments Raise Traffic Fees
Cash-strapped cities and states consider measures ranging from expansion of red-light camera systems to charging drivers for cleanup after accidents.
gee not just "rich" people have to pay extra to support all this non sense.

Thanks, Johnny.

well i guess we are all lucky that this country is not theonly country in the world right?

Johnny,
I've been using those food stamps you gave me to buy big bags of delicious unhealthy foods, and now I'm having heart problems. I've really don't like working, could you just pay my hospital bill?
Thanks.

Your complaining about paying for running a red light or cleaning up the mess after some one has an accident? Yeah, the cops are assholes for wanting you to pay a fine for breaking the law. And who should continue to pay for ambulance/emt services and traffic police investigations after the asshole that ran the red light caused an accident?
If you have a job, you can get health care at a fraction of the average cost. If the company you work for doesn't offer health insurance, then quit your job and find one with an employer that does. In the last year I have needed to have over $50K in medical services. I'm only responsible for just over $5k total. I dont see the problem ???

ill give you one break since you are mexican.
they are talking about PAYING THE CREW TO CLEAN UP THE MESS AFTER A CRASH.
oil, pieces of car(s), guard rails, etc... anything you can imagine.
do you think you should be fined 500 dollars for not completely stopping at a right turn?
you're only responsible for 5k of 50k? are you happy that other people paid for it? do you think that is fair? do you think that system will last when everyone is using 50k and paying 5k?
i have a job, and full benefits... lmao...
those laws are retarded, just like you, and like the shit hole state that people like you have ruined (liberals/socialists/communists/retards/etc...)

So tell me them who should pay for cleaning up all that shit you mentioned after an accident? Should we just leave it there? Will it just disappear?
Ok, so how many accidents a year could you avoid by having the fear, reminding stupid motherfuckers to stop when making a right turn on red, and look for on coming traffic? Do you even give a shit about other drivers? Or are you the fucking idiot that makes a turn on red, never even noticing that the on coming traffic has a green left arrow......"oh, my bad!" :?:
Do you have any idea how insurance works? Who am I sticking with the $50K bill? The other members of my insurance company? Isn't that how insurance works? So should I be mad because I have been paying for car insurance since I was 18 and have never had an accident? Should I be mad at my neighbor when he files a claim?...you're so full of shit. Do you even know how the insurance system works?
You need to drink some Drano because all that shit is clogging your fucking brain, kid.

I'm not sure if he means other people paying for it through their insurance charges, or other people paying through it when medical costs go up due to people not paying the bill...however I'm assuming he means other people paying through increased insurance rates.
If so, that's how all insurance works. Even car insurance, which is mandatory as well.

just think how many accidents could be prevented if we just executed people who caused crashes! think of that fear!!
the insurance system doesn't work, thats why the premiums are so high. insurance is a scam. insurance drives up the price of whatever is insured, especially if the the government FORCES people to buy it.
i have no problem with people buying insurance voluntarily.
-
Punishments for speeding should be much greader, like chopping off fingers and shit.
-
If you ever worked for an insurance company you would know they, along with the doctors, are some of the biggest scam artist ever. I'm interested in how this plays out. Poor people who can't afford insurance sure as hell aren't going to find magical money to pay for it all of a sudden. I can GUARANTEE you this though; if I am forced to get health insurance I will rape it sideways and sell my RX's to pay for it.
-
problem with traffic laws is they have always been lax on that shit then all of a sudden they are crazy psycho high..
i dont beileve in the cops word against your bullshit
the cop should have you on camera doing what he claims you did be it speeding or whatever the fuck and bring that shit to court for it to hold up
that will cut out 50% of the fucking tickets given guarenteed
also fuck unmanned cameras that shit should be illegal
also fuck car insurance.. they always try to fuck you out of what you are owed
in jordan the punishment for running a red or yellow light is like 8 years in jail i heard
but ontop of every stop light they have a big ass TIMER that counts down to the redlight after green so you dont have a fucking excuse
they started installing those around here but they are small and are made for cross walk people.. they need big ass ones that dangle under the stop lights.. for cars..
guarentee you that will stop alot of accidents..
-
even the fucked up laws didnt reduce traffic accidents.. im looking for more data but i dont care for the debate at all lol
According to "Jordan Times", Jordan lost 783 people in more than 52,000 road accidents last year, an increase of seven per cent over the year 2000, a senior traffic official said

I have read a couple reports that red light cameras increase accidents since people are focusing on the light and not the cars ahead of them. I agree those things scare the shit out of me and I do catch myself focusing on that damn light way to much rather than the traffic.
-

I think they need MORE of the cameras and cut out the little piggies. They need to have some leeway in them of course, not getting a ticket for 1mp over. I say 5mph is perfectly fine. Nothing like seeing cops sitting on side of the road in parking lots chatting it up earning that tax money pay check.
I do agree they need the timers though. It's too much of a guessing game and lights are different. I have seen some lights that seem to stay yellow for a long time where others seem to have maybe a two second window from yellow to red. If it had the timer you would have NO excuse at all. With the camera watching also you wouldn't have to many idiots speeding up to try and beat the red either.

The good news is, I heard you can save a bunch of money on your car insurance by switching to Geico. ;D

So tell me them who should pay for cleaning up all that shit you mentioned after an accident? Should we just leave it there? Will it just disappear?
When I get called out to an accident it's my (the tow truck operator) responsibility to clean up after the accident. All our trucks have brooms and floor dry for any shit like that. And it just gets added on to the tow bill (which usually gets paid for by insurance).
-

+1
I know 4 tow truck operators from seperate companies and they all tell me that they have to clean-up the glass, plastic bits, and sometimes even blood of the pavement. It is part of the tow fee and it is spelled out in the bill for clean-up.
So charging a driver who caused the accident a separate fine for clean-up is double dipping and it is illegal. :?:

Yeah I had to put the slap down on book keepers charged me respiratory care $200 for dislocated shoulder. Every hospital bill should be gone over very carefully. And if you do not know what it is, ask damn it or they will pull fast ones on you.
I hate the Wyoming Medical Center they are guilty of this shit for way too long. :?:

Depends on what you're in for. $750 for twenty minutes seems like a steal if you don't die.

3 stitches for 2 grand isn't. then again, she probably deserves it for not using superglue and duct tape like any person with half a brain and some intestinal fortitude would have done.
-
I'm interested to see what happens with this. I can't say for certain i think it's a huge waste of money and will fail to do anything. But i have my worries. :?:
Also i still can't understand how/why health insurance is so different from car insurance? why are annual check up's and med's covered in insurance? You don't see your car insurance covering oil changes and other monthly maintanence items?
I always wondered why people were so angry at the insurance compay when they had a loved one who got cancer and died and they couldn't afford the care. Well if you had your policy set up for a "worst case senario" you coudl have asay a $5k-10k deductable and it would have higher coverage. but wouldn't cover all the small bull shit like doctor check up's.
and dental/vision is even more stupid.

im having a trolls paradise today
this bill is a fucking terrorist scam, just like all the other "put the rape on the middle class" taxes and lies the commies have been bringing about recently... more traffic scams! more health scams! more illegals living off the fat of the land! woo!
only poor/uneducated people think they are paying mere "pennies on the dollar"
40% of your paycheck faggots, think about it - fuck these taxes, all i want em to do with my taxes is build schools and roads, fuck everything else
-
It passed, bitches.

very bad day for the US. buy it might accelerate the collapse of the federal government. which may be one good thing to come of it.
total disgrace.
i wonder if this is the US our founders envisioned... where if you don't BUY a service from a corporation. you will be fined or jailed. totally anti-liberty.
i wonder if the founders envisioned mega-corporations that worship profit above all else, pushing them to offer as little service as possible for the highest price feasible, and are also regulated/overseen in government by their former employees/clients. (do some reading on monsanto corp)
i wonder if the founders imagined that the justice system they set up would so outrageously favor the entity that can pile the most cash onto the scales, regardless of right or wrong.
i wonder if the founders ever could have imagined the economy being so fragile that the people who didn't have health insurance, or didn't have appropriate healthcare to cover their exorbitant medical expenses, could indirectly drag the housing and mortgage industry- and with it our economy- into the depths of hell when they couldn't pay their bills anymore.
i wonder if the founders ever imagined that our economy would be based more heavily on finance (moving money around to make more money) than production.
i'm sorry, but you're a fool if you think this bill is the end of the united states. i find it humorous that the people who claim to love the country so much are the ones writing it off as being so ridiculously fragile.
all those problems are because of government. more government will not make this better, it will make it worse.
buying from a company = choice
buying from the government = NOT CHOICE
But you can't have it both ways. That's what I find so strange about the conservative/capitalist argument that the market will regulate itself- if you advocate companies having the ability to grow completely unchecked, you NEED to have sufficient government control to step in when things inevitably go wrong.
You didn't read up on monsanto corp like I told you to. Basically, they are a monopoly in the soybean industry. There IS no choice- you buy from monsanto, or you recycle your old crops and wait for monsanto to take you to court for patent infringement when seeds from growers next to your land infiltrate your crops as plants naturally do.
Who oversees companies like monsanto in government? Former company CEOs and officers!
If you want to deregulate industry, there needs to be at least one entity that is still large enough to drop the hammer when the absolute profit mentaliity corrupts, which it will inevitably do. The only orgaanization with the financial resources to compete in the legal system with mulitinational corporations IS government.
I don't see the healthcare bill as a handout, or trying to redistribute wealth, I see it as protection for people like me who have taken the initiative to get and maintain adequet care from having to foot the bill for people who didn't.
I don't disagree with conservatism completely. I would love smaller government with less intrusion, but that means regulating industry such that its still possible for it to step in when necessary. I would love cuts in spending that would make the tax dollars I do pay more effective. I don't think the founders ever expected the principle of checks and balances to NEED to apply outside government and between government and industry, but the necessity has become a reality.
I suppose much of this depends on your philosophy of ethics though as well. "Profit above all else" is in direct conflict with Kantian ethics (people used as means and not ends), utilitarianism (most good for the most people), judeo-christian ethics (worldly possessions above all else), buddhism (anti-materialism), aritstotle's "golden mean" (everything in moderation). I'm not exactly sure where capitalism falls, to be honest. Objectivism seems the best fit I guess.

If you ever worked for an insurance company you would know they, along with the doctors, are some of the biggest scam artist ever. I'm interested in how this plays out. Poor people who can't afford insurance sure as hell aren't going to find magical money to pay for it all of a sudden. I can GUARANTEE you this though; if I am forced to get health insurance I will rape it sideways and sell my RX's to pay for it.
insurance is nothing but a scam, but exactly how are doctors?
ever read an itemized ER bill?
doctors don't set the price for the services of a hospital

very bad day for the US. buy it might accelerate the collapse of the federal government. which may be one good thing to come of it.
total disgrace.
i wonder if this is the US our founders envisioned... where if you don't BUY a service from a corporation. you will be fined or jailed. totally anti-liberty.
i wonder if the founders envisioned mega-corporations that worship profit above all else, pushing them to offer as little service as possible for the highest price feasible, and are also regulated/overseen in government by their former employees/clients.

Nope, and if you pay in advance their price is usually half what quoted - aka what insurance would pay for the procedure.

why is there no choice? because there is govt control over everything with people working in collusion.
government regulation is the problem.
you have the choice to buy from a company. govt gives you no choice... well actually there is one choice. pay or die.
all the problems you are talking about are caused by government. you are asking the government to solve problems it creates, and thereby creating several more problems.

Government is awesome, bring on the free money

We have a government that was designed with the intention of being overthrown, as a healthy governing process. Shut the fuck up with your womanish moaning and load your guns, Johnny, we're all waiting for you to actually DO something.

You're kind of missing the point on the whole health care reform thing there Johnny. Its about getting everyone health insurance at a rate reasonable for their income. Having a choice about things is nice, but the choice to have cheap health insurance should be an easy one. Your constant conspiracy theory is entertaining though. Like Yoseph said, why don't you get out there and start a revolution, guns a blazing?

You guys act like the origins of the country weren't fought over. This is just another major decision made with people on both sides of the fence. It will have its good points, and its bad points, just like anything else in the world.
My stance has remained consistent. I don't want a government run health insurance and I'm down for more affordable insurance. This bill seems to offer both, so I'm optimistic. I have mixed opinions about making it illegal to not have insurance and also forcing small businesses to provide their employees insurance. If the insurance is truly affordable, people should be able to pay for it themselves and not force business owners to do so. We should also just turn people away that decide they don't want health insurance once it actually becomes affordable.
I seriously hope the gov't doesn't think $800/month for health and dental is affordable. I'm hoping they think $250 for decent health insurance is their target. Otherwise their whole effort will be a total, utter failure. We'll see. As long as I get some of Johnny's money, I'm a happy man-child.

why is there no choice? because there is govt control over everything with people working in collusion.
government regulation is the problem.
you have the choice to buy from a company.
seriously; read up on how monsanto patented the genome for its soybeans. they are 95% of the soybean crops out there. you buy from them, or you wait for them to sue you. government regulation didn't cause the problem, LACK of government oversight due to people who formerly worked for them being appointed to the regulatory positions overseeing their actions is what caused the problem. if the government HAD acted and stepped in and pointed out that they are a monopoly and we have anti-trust laws in this country, things wouldn't have gotten so ugly for the farmers who refused to back down to their intimidation.
same thing happened with the meat industry. there are really only a handful of processing plants that supply almost all the meat in this country. if you want meat, you have to buy from them. you don't seem to understand that if we were to completely pull government regulation out of industry, all those smaller 'choices' that you are still clinging to would disappear and be consumed by the corporations that can afford to dump millions into dragging them through the legal system until they're bankrupt.
hell, go to the grocery store sometime. look at all the choices! except they're not ACTUALLY choices at all- most of the products offered are owned by the same 3 or 4 companies. they're multiple offerings by the same company masquerading as choices, because that's the goal of capitalism: profit by any means possible.
now, don't get me wrong, capitalism has been very good to this country. but just like the founders realized the need for separation of powers amongst judicial, legislative and executive branches to prevent any one from becoming too powerful, capitalism needs checks and balances as well. the true 'free market' encourages consolidation of power and unfettered growth. the 'regulated free market' works pretty well, and has for over a hundred years now. the problem is that the regulators must be large enough to regulate. massive corporations breed massive government. you seem to think the two are not inherently linked to one another?
also,
where if you don't BUY a service from a corporation. you will be fined or jailed. totally anti-liberty.
what the fuck have you been smoking? the only penalties in the bill are as of 2014, if you do not have health insurance (and are not exempt from the rule), you will be fined $95 or 1% of your income, whichever is greater. by 2016, the fine goes up to about $600ish or 2.5%. still less than the average tax refund. unpleasant, sure. end of america? puh-lease.
no one is going to be jailed for not purchasing health insurance. go have another glass of kool-aid, chicken little.
-
kgx I enjoy your political posts.
Never thought of the whole think you mentioned above, and that's fucked up but not unbelievable about the soybean thing. Unfortunately, usually the companies usually end up getting what they want anyway due to lobbyists and money, but at least there's some chance of it not happening with regulation...
-
Johnny only reads stuff from fox news
Maybe he will watch a movie, Food Inc. discusses the bullshit practices of Monsanto.

I can't argue with that.
I honestly don't now enough about it to make any arguments either way, but the way it seems to have been ramrodded though makes me more than a little skeptical. I can only imagine that it falls short of addressing the real issues like pretty much any other bill/law seems to do these days.

"or". not "and," with a maximum allowable of just over $2k. bear in mind there are exceptions for religious objections, people at the bottom of the poverty table who have no hope of affording insurance on their own, etc.
possibly Amy Goldstein (she's a reporter for the washington post) misspoke on NPR this afternoon. christian science monitor confirms what Ms Goldstein said though. it's surprisingly difficult to find anything on the subject that someone (typically, but not always from the right) hasn't pissed their "fair and balanced" opinions into.
actually, Fox News just had a story up on the healtcare penalties being somewhat "toothless" and maybe not even enough of a financial incentive to find insurance.
there was also some talk of what had been happening in MA, where people would just opt to pay the fine and then go out and get insurance once they did get sick.
yes, why don't we discuss the whole story?
don't get me wrong, i in no way believe that this bill will turn everyone's shit purple and make it smell like rainbow sherbert, but i'm certainly not convinced that it's anywhere near the atrocity that rush, hannity and 'crybaby' beck want you to believe it is. i bet that once the dems stop talking about their "historic triumph" and the reagan radio brigade find something else to bitch about, most people won't even think about this anymore.

You don't know what the fuck you want. I get the noble bullshit, "I'm a real man and I do it all myself and I don't need help" -- thats fine and good. What isn't cool is your "and fuck everyone else" attitude. What is retarded is that the majority of the "conservative" or "republican" bullshit thrown around these days, by people in the poor to middle class income brackets, is blinding them into thinking republican policies will benefit you. The modern day republican party is about the upper 1 or 2%, the rich motherfuckers, and they want all of our monies. If you want to get Johnny-dramatic about it, the choice is being some rich fuck's serf/bitch/slave (republican) or you can pay some fucking taxes for public services and have a more equitable and just world (democrat).
Or we can start a revolution because some black guy is trying to force us to have affordable, universal healthcare.

haha, always well spoken. I'll agree with you a bit. The current two party system is fucked, and neither side has all the answers. Both have core principles that I can appreciate, and such principles usually aren't the stark opposites modern politics make them out to be. How shit currently is flung at the fan, I align myself with the democrat/liberal faggotry side of things as they represent MOAR of the ideals that I feel important, but I don't agree with everything. Mostly I just like to infuriate Johnny, even if I empathize with some conservative bullshit.

Actually, I have. I see the difficulty you have with it. As a citizen of this country, you fucking man up and pay for it. You can be upset because you think the money is wasted, you can hope that it does someone some good somewhere, you can appreciate the public services and goods you have, or you can just fucking leave? NINJA EDIT: or you can take part in the political and democratic processes of the nation and try to make change (at least you'd be trying to do something meaningful with your life?). Congo would be a great place to go if you didn't want to pay taxes or deal with public services, and the more guns you stockpile the better.

WRONG
we have a constitution, that is not followed. we were supposed to be protected from this DUMBASS.
why do you ignore the constitution completely? it simply does NOT ALLOW THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO DO THIS. they are the ones "breaking the law" how fucking hard is it to understand?
govt is a necessary evil that has to be as small as possible.
-
I'm not worried about it. Once I get out of school and get caught scamming social security, I plan on going to federal prison for the free food and place to sleep. I'll probably commit petty crimes while there so I don't have to leave, and eventually, when I'm 70, I'll kill someone and get the death penalty by lethal injection, just to milk the system a little bit more on the way out.

What's the constitution? All I know is Johnny pays for my black babies

WRONG

By who, the government? Or were guns put into your hands via the second amendment so you could go out and overthrow a tyrannical government?
Go on, Johnny. Stop bitching and start a revolution.

A story.
You and I are part of an indian tribe of 5 members. We're all good at something, and that's exactly what we do on the day to day, in order to trade services/funds with each other. Ask yourself what a 3rd party (government) can bring into our "tribe", and that's what you have with democrats (taking our shit while making themselves rich, and promising us the world through the 3rd party (gov.), promising shit they can't deliver. The Republicrats on the other hand speak in favor of our tribe, while taking bribes from our richest member, enabling that richest member of our tribe to fuck us.
In the end, our community requires us to do business with each other, rejecting 3rd party influence (gov/ incl. Republicrats), and that's the only way it'll work. Some get pissed to the point of supporting the tribes 3rd party (dem.), and some get pissed to support the "tribes" (republicrat. groups paying off b(ritch) boy group.)
In ending, you must reject both, or you're simply a bitch. It's been a long time since we really had to stand on our own, with minimal material items, but set it up for your children, and you'll be at peace.

Or were guns put into your hands via the second amendment so you could go out and overthrow a tyrannical government?
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed
The opposite of a free state, is a government state. Figure it out before you get the AK to your face, bizznitchle.

Why don't you guys immigrate in canada?
We have health care system that works, financial security, you don't need to carry a gun because NOBODY has a gun, no pollution restriction like in California, you can buy alcohol at 18, you can drive a car at 16, lot of jobs in every field, no terrorist, no fear, etc
Bonus, you can eat fucking good poutine! :-*
-
i would go to canada with a gun and rob all you bitches then come back here and spend it in a country that doesnt have to blush every time it gets coverage

You're clueless, you dumb ass canuck. government health care doesn't work in a free society unless they rob the successful to subsidize the un-successful, financial security is based on the fake federal resrve/central bank you have= jack dick. We carry guns because it's our right, originally designed to fight tyrannical government that we have now, which was put in place to never have a tyrannical gov. Pollution in CA is a state issue. We have 50 states to live in, and if you don't like the communist ways of CA, you're free to move to one of the other __ states that don't persecute your for bullshit laws (because they're broke and need money)
Buying alcohol at 18 should be a given, but we're fear driven here in the US.
um, most states we CAN drive at 16.
jobs? you got lots? hahhhaaha......wait.....hahah (sure). Your job market is based on us buying. Stab your nuts, nigglolisis.
Terrorists? There's more "terrorists" in your country than in ours. Where do you think they immigrate from? Yeah, your gov. might not play the terror card like ours does, to freak out your average US idiot, but they're coming from your country if you want to know. The reason why they don't blow up your heroin bars is because your miliraty isn't brave enough top fight for the sake of fighting, which is why (apparently) we do it. Right or wrong, I'm just saying. They're trying to get to this empire.
Poutine? ? ? ? ??? Sounds like some shit I'd feed to my cats.... and I don't even have CATS you naive piece of Canadia dog shit. WTF is poutine, you snow bunny, shrivled dick'd faggot?
How bout if I come up to your "land", waive half an American flag, and stuff your lungs with Canadia snow? Will that shut you and the rest of you naive queer mounty loving fags the fuck up?

For the record, I'm shitty, won't spell check my last post, and there's still nothing Canada can do to me.
FUCK YOU CANADIA!! YOUR MOUNTY POLICE WOULD GET ROLLED, SON!!

I worked for an insurance company and I can tell you doctors will rip you off 100 times over. You know how many claims we got that people would dispute and we would turn over as fraud. Dr would simply call us to say that it was a billing error....it funny how many calls we NEVER got with the doctor telling us of their billing errors we weren't made aware of by the customer.
Then you have doctors that send patients to do needless test. We would often flag claims when we would get billed for xrays, MRIs, cat scans, etc etc for the same billing code as things that had NOTHING to do with these services. Then when they use those two gloves to examine you want to guess how many they bill the insurance for? A whole box. Yep they use two and charge for a hundred. This is the main reason insurance companies are A) Shitty and deny claims left and right B) Charge out the ass for coverage
If you ever worked for an insurance company you would know they, along with the doctors, are some of the biggest scam artist ever. I'm interested in how this plays out. insurance is nothing but a scam, but exactly how are doctors?
ever read an itemized ER bill?
doctors don't set the price for the services of a hospital
See above, it goes the same for Hospitals
Because checkups and meds are a better investment for the insurance company. Say you go for a checkup; they find out you have x disease. They caught it early and treat it with meds that you now have to take the rest of your life and insurance covers part of them as well.
Now say you don't; you end up having an episode and have to go to get transported to the er via ambulance, then they run countless test on you. They find out you have x disease and give you meds the rest of your life which insurance covers part of.
In the end the outcome is the same in both those situations, but that $200 office visit just up to a $1000+ ambulance ride and $1000+ ER bill.

You have a fucked up view of America, Francis. You are wrong on every single last count.
- Our health care system works. Because high profile fools want to buy status symbols they can't afford does NOT make health care unaffordable.
- We have financial security. It involves not living above our means.
- We carry guns if we want to, or not, it makes no real difference. Honestly, I've run my mouth and driven recklessly my whole life and the only time I've ever had a gun pointed at me it was some girl's father because I was pecking on her window at 3am - I wasn't shot, or in danger of being shot, but the moral is in America you don't fuck around someone's home.
- 95% of America clowns California, but nowhere near as hard as 100% of America clowns third world fucking Canada. Hurr Durr Durr.
- Who cares what age the legal drinking age is? I could get the stuff when I was 14, whoopty-shit.
- I was driving a car at 16. Your point was?
- There are lots of jobs in every field in America. I don't live in shitty places like Florida or California or Flint fucking Michigan, and no one with a brain does either.
- There are no terrorists in America
- There is no fear in America

doug is right, "smart" doctors scam insurance and the govt for more money by doing EVERYTHING possible to make the bill larger. the more govt tightens its gripes on private insurance, the less the insurance companies can do it stop it. the govt has unlimited free money printed or borrowed from other countries. they scam the govt much harder.
Na the gov isn't turning over that change to the medical community. A large percentage of the medical care community refuse to accept Medicare/Medicaid because they don't pay for a lot of things and when they do they grab them by the nuts. If our customers chose to use a out of network provider we paid at a percentage of the Medicare rate. A visit we might pay $200 for normally would be say $70 on the Medicare scale.

Yeah they use to scam it hella hard which in-turn has screwed it over for them now.

Flint michigan is the shit.
The Dayton Family. Flint Town (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_7qlkOb1aY#normal)
Ill be making a trip out there this fall. On top of it go to a Detroit Lions game.
-
I had a half-Persian half-Irish roommate once, dude was from Flint and probably the most laid back person I've ever met. He moved at 2/3rds the speed of a normal person which somehow garnered him the nickname Flash. When Flash was sober he'd relate how his family was a bunch of illogical buks and he moved down here to be with his white family so he didn't have to put up with their shit. When he was drunk, usually with Rerun (heavyset black kid abducted by white people as a child and forced to watch Star Trek and listen to Skynyrd), I'd walk into the living room and they'd throw shit at me and rant about the white devils. One day Rerun forgave me for being white and that shit stopped, but Flash would still glare at me when drunk and mutter about waiting for the betrayal since my people had no honor.
Cliffs: FUCK YOU!!
-
fucking pussies have to resort to political name calling
i think yelling 'baby killer' at that one dem. who switched sides after the 'promise' of an executive order, which by the way can be taken away at ANY time the president feels like, is definitely just name calling, and funny as hell
-
Bottom line, I'll drop both you bitches with a quickness, just because. Yeah..... I said.......
F U C K Y O U ! !
You still live off pilot knob, right? If I bring you over a 40lb cheeseburger smothered in bacon and chicken and lambchops will you forgive me? Heh.
In all seriousness though, I don't see the feel good shit. Like I said, I see this as a form of protection for those who are doing it by the book from those who aren't. That's it. For me, real healthcare reform would involve getting doctors to stop shoving pills down peoples throats and teaching people to live better so they don't get sick in the first place.

A rebuttal:
Karl marx would be proud. Your 5 person tribe operating on the "to each from his ability" principle is one of the basic principles of communism.
T what I think most conservatives don't understand, is that capitalism is based on the idea of competition. That, in itself isn't the real problem so much as the lack of understanding of the fundamentals of "competition." Competition exists through separate entities trying to achieve a goal before or to a greater magnitude than another entity.
But look at any other form of competition in human society- do we allow athletes to referee themselves? To call their own fouls and penalties? No, we employ a 3rd party to ensure that rules are followed and to regulate the pace of the competiton. The nature of competition REQUIRES 3rd party regulation.
Without 3rd party regulation, rules cannot be enforced.
Without rules, we have anarchy.
With anarchy, freedom comes at the whim of the guy with the biggest gun/most money. Life ends up "nasty, brutish and short."
The size of that 3rd party regulatory agency, in order to have enough clout to be considered "authority," must be larger and more powerful than the largest of the entities it oversees.
Government IS what capitalist competition MADE it. To blame the government for our problems is like geting ppissed at firefighters for destroying your home trying to put the fire out. To try to minimize government without doing the same to corporate america is like taking morphine for the pain and hoping you appendicitis goes away. Government is a symptom, not the disease.

I really like this argument:
jobs? you got lots? hahhhaaha......wait.....hahah (sure). Your job market is based on us buying. Stab your nuts, nigglolisis.
So, since our jobs are based on you buying shit to us (yeah, exportation is 33% of GDP), we have no quality job? That makes no fucking sens dude. If you build something at 33$/hour. If it is sold to USA or South Africa, you are still doing 33$/hour, get it?
I should have said terrorism and not terrorists. I know they immigrate here to fuck USA not Canada.
To finish, we have Harper and you Have Obama... I think I'll immigrate to Japan finally.

teaching people to live better so they don't get sick in the first place.
And we have a winner. Almost a trillion dollars (which is an incredible amount of money, maybe 3 times what I’ll make in my lifetime) is to be spent on this 'reform'. THE ONLY DAMN THING IN IT TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE GETTING OR STAYING HEALTHIER IN THE FIRST PLACE IS A 10% TAX ON INDOOR TANNING. America is one of, if not the, most obese nations in the world, and being fat is a huge health risk. How many Americans die from smoking related illnesses? A few more than die of skin cancer, but that’s just a guess. Instead of forcing people to buy insurance, why not start government gyms that are free to the people, put a tax on fast food, tell the big tobacco companies to fuck off and raise cig prices. Wouldn’t that be more beneficial in the next 10 years? I mean medicare and medicade are already going broke; the younger generation had better start taking better care of themselves.

And we have a winner.
or we've found a new issue: how do you tell ay-'murricans' that they need to learn to live better because our current lifestyle is destroying us? if you allow complete freedom to decide, it's going to keep going exactly the direction we're headed now.
do you create financial incentives for people to live better? someone is going to bitch that that is redistribution of wealth.
do you create restrictions on foods we know to be dangerous? someone will bitch that that is taking away r fREEEdUMz1!!lol.
do you break up corporate conglomerates whose only interest is to sell you as much of what they have, and produce that stuff as cheaply as possible regardless of whether it's harmful or not? someone will bitch that you're a socialist and you want to take away people's choice.
what do you do when people have demonstrated time and time again that they cannot make the right choices to maintain their health?
you can try to educate people on healthy choices and what we understand to be the science behind our current dilemma. BUT, people will bitch that it's a scam, that we don't really understand anything, that we're just trying to tell people how to live- they'll find some "expert" that agrees with their point and consider that definitive proof that everyone else is full of shit.*
that's the real problem: there is no solution that a majority will ever agree on. at some point, a "leader" needs to tell all the stupid children to sit the fuck down and shut up and steer the failboat in another direction and see what happens.
*there was a study a few years back that found the viewers/listeners of fox news were significantly MORE likely to believe a false story/information if it fit their beliefs than people who listened to NPR. they were also less willing to come to terms with the fact that they had been duped. they would rather continue believing something that was just shown to them to be wrong, than admit that they were wrong for believing it.

If either an individual or a business has failed to comply with this mandate for any month out of the year, they are required to pay a separate tax to the IRS. For individuals this is a maximum of $750 per person (up to $2,250 per household) and $750 per uncovered employee for businesses.
Because these penalties would each apply on a monthly basis, individuals and employers would have to pay 1/12th of the maximum penalties for each month they failed to comply with the mandates.

And yet that is perfectly fine as that is the benefit of freedom. I suppose we should execute marshal law and become a communist tyrant based gov also?
do you create financial incentives for people to live better? someone is going to bitch that that is redistribution of wealth.
I would love to know how you would do this. The premise of it makes no sense. Who is going to decide what is healthy and what isn't? Tobacco, food products, alcohol, drugs (legal and non), activities, education, area you live etc etc, as you see it starts to snowball on what is "healthy". Not only that buy when there is a system setup this way do you honestly think it's going to be to better the people? No; it's going to be to line the pockets of the gov and corporations.
do you create restrictions on foods we know to be dangerous? someone will bitch that that is taking away r fREEEdUMz1!!lol.
We have plenty of restrictions on foods that are dangerous. You can have the "safest" food in the world only available and people will still be in the shape we are today. We as a society have become lazy and convenient reliable.
do you break up corporate conglomerates whose only interest is to sell you as much of what they have, and produce that stuff as cheaply as possible regardless of whether it's harmful or not? someone will bitch that you're a socialist and you want to take away people's choice.
How are you going to control what a company produces and how it produces it? Who would be in charge of such a regulatory commission? Back again to the point up top; in the end no benefit will be had except to line the crooked's pockets.
what do you do when people have demonstrated time and time again that they cannot make the right choices to maintain their health?
you can try to educate people on healthy choices and what we understand to be the science behind our current dilemma. BUT, people will bitch that it's a scam, that we don't really understand anything, that we're just trying to tell people how to live- they'll find some "expert" that agrees with their point and consider that definitive proof that everyone else is full of shit.*
Do you lack the understanding the we as a people just don't care? Seriously there is no big scandal hiding the unhealthy choices we make everyday. EVERYONE knows them; the fact is we simply don't give two shits. Point being: Cigarettes kill half a million people each year and it's a known fact they cause cancer. Want to guess how many Americans smoke?
that's the real problem: there is no solution that a majority will ever agree on. at some point, a "leader" needs to tell all the stupid children to sit the fuck down and shut up and steer the failboat in another direction and see what happens.
That "leader" wouldn't be a leader for very long. That isn't the American way, and if he was in the position to where he could cause influence the system of check and balances would weed his thoughts out quickly.
That's again we as a people. People don't like being wrong. That study plays largely on the fact we are a visual learning people. We believe what we see to automatically be truth as it's the normal process of learning.

I finger fucked Doug's mom's anus, then had Doug lick my fingers clean.
-
And yet that is perfectly fine as that is the benefit of freedom. I suppose we should execute marshal law and become a communist tyrant based gov also?
i agree, up until the point where someone exercising their freedom to be a fucking slob starts costing me money. you can quip slippery slope fallacies all day long, but it doesn't change the fact that when people make decisions that significantly affect others negatively, a line should be drawn. why do you think we pay policemen to ticket us when we speed? we are allowed the freedom to make that decision, but there's a penalty to pay when it has the potential to hurt others.
No; it's going to be to line the pockets of the gov and corporations.
the premise makes perfect sense, and it would be fairly easy to implement. 1. sales tax inversely proportional to nutritional value for foods (index based on total calories, grams of sugar, grams of fiber, grams of fat, etc). 2. use additional sales tax from unhealthy foods to subsidize healthy foods, making them the more financially appealing choice. honestly, one of the reasons why americans are so overweight is that shit food is substantially cheaper than good food.
Want to guess how many Americans smoke?
six?
my understanding is that when people 'don't care' to a big enough degree that their complacence affects others negatively, we should do something. i merely asked questions above, pointing out that someone will inevitably find somethign to bitch about (someone sure did, didn't they?).
this kind of touches on something i talked about in one of the toyota threads- dumbfuck drivers kill more than 5 times more people each year than drunk drivers, yet we tolerate dumbfucks and crucify drunks, despite dumbfucks being a bigger threat, which brings me back to...
And yet that is perfectly fine as that is the benefit of freedom. I suppose we should execute marshal law and become a communist tyrant based gov also?
you'd be surprised how quickly 'freedom' evaporates when you're 600lbs, bankrupt and dragging everyone else down with you.
-
one of the reasons why americans are so overweight is that shit food is substantially cheaper than good food.
Mildly disagree, mostly in the respect that I think the emphasis should be elsewhere. While that is a contributing cause, the sole reason why Americans are overweight is lack of thrift and self-denial. This same gluttony is universally applied in our culture and also caused the whole economic reset we're currently enjoying right now.
That said, good food costs. I could deal hunt and have a somewhat repetitive diet or I could try to mix deals with variety - I do the latter. I cook on average 1.2 meals per day for me and the kid, and rarely buy junk food or in fact any snack foods aside from some fruit (cheap apples/bananas). I spend ~$450-550 a month doing just that. I don't buy over salted preservative laden shit in boxes, and I pay for it.

honestly, one of the reasons why americans are so overweight is that shit food is substantially cheaper than good food.
I wouldn't go that far. American society is about getting what you want, and shitty food is what most people want. Society also says fatties are disgusting, but I think most people prefer to eat the junk for the instant satisfaction over the long-term exercise to lose a little weight, assuming they work out enough to outpace the eating habits.
Definitely agree that healthy food costs more than shit food. Hell, even look at beverages. Soft drinks are significantly cheaper than good ol milk or juice. Fortunately I was blessed with a metabolism that I cannot overpower, even when I've tried.
this kind of touches on something i talked about in one of the toyota threads- dumbfuck drivers kill more than 5 times more people each year than drunk drivers, yet we tolerate dumbfucks and crucify drunks, despite dumbfucks being a bigger threat, which brings me back to...
I'm possibly missing your point but I don't see how that's a good analogy... There are a shitload more dumbfucks driving than drunks, so it's not surprising they kill more. Also drinking and driving is a choice. I guess stupidity is to a point also, but I believe with all my heart that a majority of people are just naturally stupid and can't help it.

A lot of people think that shit food is cheaper. It is, but it's not that much more expensive for healthier stuff if you try/educate yourself on cheap healthy stuff. But I agree with JD that the american mindset is also a part of the problem. Education just goes a long way.

Cheap healthy stuff is bland. If I'm going to cook, it will have flavor deriving from natural goodness instead of from grease, butter, and salt.
-
Despite it not really mattering what I consume, I still do try to eat somewhat healthy. I don't go much out of my way for it, but I eat healthy when I can...
There are cheap healthy foods, but there are equally cheap better tasting junk foods. Rice is cheap as fuck, and healthy, but people in poverty usually resort to microwave junk, ramen, and hot pockets because it is "convenient" and has more flavor.

I made broiled lime-garlic chicken, roasted herbed yukon rose potatoes, and pimptastically seasoned black beans for dinner tonight. Fuck all of your mothers.

Sounds good. Where are the colorful vegetables?
:P
Most of the crap that I know how to cook well is not healthy by any means. Granted it is probably beter than the processed crap,, but i know the enchiladas could lead to cardiovaxcular problesm in a hurry.
lol.

yeah. i definitely agree with that. i went to some feel-good bat-shit-crazy cult of a chiropractor last night because we had gotten an invite to a free dinner. they said lasagna. i had no idea it would be from the 'raw' diet. whatever, it was free.
i don't know if i would call it lasagna, but it was actually really fucking good. no meat. no cheese. made entirely with vegetables, nuts and whatnot- 100% not even cooked. but it was good. it actually somehow tasted cheesy. then there was chocolate cheesecake for dessert. only it wasn't. it was a plate full of lies, but they were damn convincing lies. no dairy, no grains, sweetened only with blue agave.. i hate healthy shit, but this stuff was good.
then came the price- $175 for a week's worth of food. per person. it wasn't that good.
While that is a contributing cause, the sole reason why Americans are overweight is lack of thrift and self-denial.
right. i'm not saying it was the single cause. i agree that people have become generally worthless to themselves. i'd love to see if there's some correlation between the increasing effect of the "i can has" culture and the shift in the mindset of raising children that they deserve a gold medal just for participating.

maybe i emphasized the wrong part of it. or maybe i'm just grasping at straws. i was trying to say that maybe it's about time we stopped being so tolerant of the people who "just can't help it." i'm probably just pooping words out my mouth though.
