I guess it depends where you live. I didn't respond for about a year, and then they started sending letters that they were going to arrest me, blah blah. I played it for a while, and then decided to call and play dumb. Asked the lady if I still had to go if I was a member of the black panthers, and she said yes. Now they've sent me the initial letter again, and I'm just sending messages.

I'm not really going to donate any of my time to the government for free. Fuck em.

They pay something, but I'm not willing to take the job at the rate they're paying. Involuntary servitude FTL.

CAPS WILL ALWAYS GET YOU OUT OF JURY DUTY.

FYI you weren't sworn in yet, so the whole honesty thing goes out the window. Honesty is wrong. It arouses contempt in the court clerk heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow.

They're very lonely people, and expect some good excuses.

They pay you.  $40 a day plus you get some money for driving in.  I did one day of Federal Jury duty and made $73.  We had a ton of people in our pool so I never got called back again.

You should have heard some of the lame excuses people were using to get out of jury duty.  If you just write "I own my own business and cannot afford to take a day off" you will get off.  Another excuse that works is if you have to be home for the kids.  I was shocked when I went to jury duty most of the people were well educated and had decent jobs.  I couldn't figure out if you are well educated and have a good job, why couldn't you figure a way out of jury duty?  My excuse was I didn't really care if I went or not, so I did.

i went once, i sait in the waiting room for like 9 hours, i was one ofthe last people picked to go in the court room. the tril i got was a black kid facing a gun charged. i got called to sit on the jury. i looked at the da and gave he that " he didient do it/oj" look and she dismissed me.

You mean you're black, and the DA in no way shape or form wanted the kid to undergo a jury of his peers.

Exactly. Every time I've been called for jury duty, it was a trial for some young kid with a weapon or drug charge. You bet your ass they didn't want someone close to the same age that MIGHT sympathize with him.

Easiest way to get out of jury duty...

You know the defendant.  They cant put on you in the jury if you know or have ever met the person in question.  Just say you talked to him on the street once or something.

i love jury duty for this simple reason: jury nullification.

they hate me. i don't care if the person actually did what they are accusing them of, if they didnt' hurt anyone = not guilty.

if you say jury nullification they will instantly tell you to leave.

During the selection if you are asked about reading and "subjective" publications........like Playboy......you get dismissed rather quickly.

1 On what day did you talk to the defendant?
2 About a year ago.
1 He was locked up in prison for rapping a 9 year old boy.
2 I didnt say the conversation was interesting.
