so i bought a 94 vx hatch that has a bad alternator (see thread in gd http://www.realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php?topic=13535.0 (http://www.realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php?topic=13535.0)) Anyhow I cant get the damn bottom pivot bolt out. I got the nut off but the bolt seems to be frozen in the alternator. Any ideas on how to get that fucker out? Not much room to work with on eg hatches but there has got to be some way of getting it out short of yanking the motor to get access to it to grind the fucker out.

Two foot 1/2" drive extension and a hammer.
Have fun beating it out.

Go spend a couple bucks on lube. Also with rusted up piles of trash before you work on them literally soak stuff atleast overnight before you get into them. Also there is plenty of room to work. Try a 84 crx if you think a 92 civic is hard to work on.
If you wanna go I dont care status cut up the bracket with an angle grinder. If your a honda geek you should have a couple spare d15b's people throw away in the garage with brackets on them.
If not I have bins of those damn things. Also if you need a good oem used alternaotr I have those also on the cheap.

if really desired, I have the ALUM VX ALT and AC mounts
-
uber baller I have the jdm itr p73 shiney ac bracket collecting dust if I ever get a 92 chassis
-
remove the alt attached to the bracket with a wrench ground down to fit between the alt and the bracket, pull it out as one, might help to unbolt the engine mounts on the drivers side to lift the engine a bit to squeeze it out the top

kill clueless dueyx99
-
b/s just fuckn did it couple weeks ago, had same prob, pulled out the alt and bracket as one
-
did you do it on a VX?????
didn't think so.
-
Im all for hacking up the bracket
-
consider the bracket hacked lol poor aluminum vx bracket haha. I put a iron ex one in its place now my car is 1 lb heaver :'( sad I had half the motor out of the car just to change the alt. about 10 more bolts and it would be out and a z6 would be its place right now

How the fuck did you stick a socket wrench between the alt & bolt, or get a box wrench to grab on? Pray tell n00b.

That's the D16 version, which have 2 bolts - 1 directly behind the alt's pivot bolt. A b-series has 3 bolts, only way it'd be possible.
-
I removed the bracket attached to the alt once. I used the a crowbar on the alt against the IM and it loosened the bolt.
-
as far as the 2 bolt bracket is concerned, i ground down a 14mm wrench, tilted the alt backward towards the firewall and the wrench slipped right in, had to remove the unshrouded bolt first, that way as the shrouded bolt was loosed, the bracket could be pulled backward to allow the wrench to slip in and out, was not on vx tho, as crttaz was sayin, was on y8

liar.

hiprofile i took it of as one too, have a set of good wrenches and china shit, i thined out the boxed and and it slips right over :) i was having this same issue
