Well the other day I was driving the wife's daily. 2001 Civic ex and the damn tensioner bolt on the alternator snapped off and it dropped the belt. Fixed that shit on the side of the road, started the car up and it's in gimp mode.
No Tach or gauges, check engine light is on along with a blinking green key/security bs, wont tak emore than part throttle and has about a 2000rpm rev limit.
Hooked up the code scanner and it won't connect?
Any ideas? I've read TDC sensor or cam position sensor.
Also read that since the scanner won't connect the ECU is dead?
-
definatly power fuse problem. does the scanner even power up?

+1 or a lose connection.
Its going to be something simple for sure.
-
i run into communication problems all the time when programming transponders.
98% of the time, its a fuse.
-
Scanner is getting power, even did a jumper wire to try and reqd the mil
light and nothing. Checked every fuse under the dash and hood.
Unhooked battery and pulled the FI fuse for a while to try and reset it and nothing.
Picking up
and ecu today to try that :(

Check all your wires in the area of the belt breakage?
Could be a cut wire or a broken ground?
-
Yea checked the wires and connections to both the cam position sensor and the crank
position sensor. All look good and clean.
-
did you try to reset the whole dam thing by disconnecting the battery and holding the two terminals together for a minute.
-
sounds like a ground or fuse issue. since you already checked the fuses, i would check all of the grounds especially the ecu ground
-
I checked freaking everything. Gave up, Closest salvage yard with a ECM that would work was about 125miles away. Drove there and got the bitch, took the cR tithe stealership the next morning. I even watched them work on the car. There code scanner did nothing also. They had to swap the ECM and then do a "all keys lost" thingamajig and all is good now
The drive to the dealership pissed off a few drivers on the interstate. Lol. I've I gave it much over about 10% throttle it would completely stall the motor, and if I reved it past 2500ish rpm it would buck really bad. I could go 60mph if I drafted a rig but they would lose me on hills.
I left with a freshly topped off gas tank and the drive was about 30 miles and I used almost half a tank of gas. Damn thing was stinking.

so your shit is in sitty limp mode so did you try the other ecu??
