Title: Mitsu idle problem
Post by: MAJORAHOLE on April 12, 2010, 02:42:27 PM
got a 1.5l mitsu mirage ive been driving while working on my civic, well the idle is shitty once its warm, could this be the EGR? or what else?
we've had this car for 8 years, and its always done this, and for a while it might stall after its been idleing at a light, and you go to step on the gas.
idk wtf the deal is, maybe clogged cat?? or would that be consitently shitty idle no matter engine temp?
suggestions?

Its a lost cause. You just need to give it to me.  :P

There are many things that can cause a shitty idle on the 4g15, the most likely being the idle control motor itself, or the ecu.

unhook the vacuum lines to the egr and loop them on the valve, /egr.

4g61t.org is where you need to be.

4g15 doesnt have one.  The idle set screw is on the throttle body bracket, and does nothing more than push the plate open/closed.  Not like a dsm where the BISS opens a channel in the TB. So there's nothing to leak.  You are correct in your thinking, that perhaps there is a vacuum leak, but suprisingly unless its a big leak they dont seem to affect the 4g15/ecu like a 4g63. Different coding in the ecu I suspect.

Grey market car.  The MAF system used on the mirage is very close to the 4g37, but the MAP system isnt like anything else.  Like I said, hop on the australia mitsu forums.
