Old setup:
Lovefab log
SC63 .96 AR
2.5" dp / 3" exhaust
blox turbo cams
built short block (9:1 comp)
stock IM/TB
eCtune
New:
same as old other than Blox IM and stock LS auto cams
same setup as the old one except i convinced him to let me put the stock cams back in there and for him to install a new intake manifold (Blox). The difference in power is absolutely crazy up top. Less power in the middle of the power band on high boost but it should help the crazy wheel spin he had. Not too mention carrying out the power all the way to the rev limiter has its perks:
Whats funny is its making less boost with the stock cams (11) and making better power when it made 13 on the old low boost setup

now high boost.

old setup on 17.5psi, new setup on 18psi and 19psi.
he's supposed to be coming by my house today to get his thermostat and drop off some monies, I'll get some videos.

Get some 403's and see how he likes it then.
Kinda hard to tell if the cams were helpful or not, even though they DO make more mid range power which is what most people want. How do you know the cams wouldn't have shined with just the IM upgrade? Or maybe they just needed some playing with.
Kinda looks like you can add some timing up top though.

i tried to. I will tell the mother fucker to do something and then he buys the cheaper version of "the same thing".
Just like i told him not to put the OBX throttle body on there, but he did and totally whined about the car not driving good. Through the tune all out of wack, blade was sticky, fueling was everywhere. Put the stock body on there and bam it runs beautifully.

I try and not deal with those sorts of dumbfucks. You're still trying too hard with the wrong people man. Helping cheap fuckers out that refuse to take your advice will get you no where besides into trouble down the road when something happens and they blame it on you.

it pays the bills....

he also complained that i charged him 650 for cam install, valve lash, throttle install, distributor rewire, street tune, dyno tune.
if he would have listened to me in the first fucking place he could have saved 400 something dollars.

not exactly a problem of mine if you think it should have made more power. It makes what it makes and the customer is happy so in the end
GO FUCK YOURSELF.

Spoken like a true champion

Shit, my ZC made 250 at 15lbs of boost with a 2 1/2 DP, stock cams and a ching chow turbo and hadn't finished tuning it yet.

Is 9:1 the real compression ratio?
I'm not talking by experience cause I don't have it, but over the web b18a/b at 13psi with similar (even smaller) turbo make over 300hp.
Something is with this setup. Not that I really care, just wondering...

im just the tuner. He said the compression was 9:1. He doesnt know hardly anything about the motor so its hard for me to give specifics. All I know is that the engine idles at 400mbar (unless ~250mbar like most other stock cam motors), has a random hesitation at 2000 rpm only during part throttle while lightly accelerating through 2000 rpm range, and the components for his turbo kit and accessories are not what i would have chosen.
the engine was done by an unknown machine shop. I know the head has crower valvesprings, retainers, and valves. I'm not sure if a valve job was done to to the head and im sure he doesnt know either. He couldnt even tell me what cams where in the motor at first until he called the shop who installed the motor.
all i know is that he listened to me (kinda) and the motor picked up a lot of power.

The things you guys dont understand is that he put auto cams in. The only way that stock cams could be any worse in a LS would be auto cams instead of 5 speed cams....lol
I bet if they were 5 speed cams it would have picked up a few more.
-
i told him i wanted 5 speed cams, but he said the guy would trade his stock cams + cash for the turbo cams. Whatever..
