a threaded 16 in rod should be perfect for an ef
the 38in bar for the x-member had about an inch extra on each side. worked out well.
added brackets to use a stock cross member bolt hole and add a bracket for the torque mount
forgot to mention: weirtech ftw :noel:
if you do this, and you add a front tq brace/mount try to get some thick ass 2inch OD tube/pipe. mine skewed a tiny bit. (or buy a sleeve and slide it in. this technique can be seen in the porn section)

got some nice 10.9 grade hardware for the LCA's too.
thanks to atticus for the gangster after welds!

i've been waiting to see one of these. awesome!
-
funny thing is we added a 1/2 by 1/2 inch angel iron on the out side of the pipe for reinforcement
and it still has a bend in it
not a kink but its a little bowed in the middle
-
ive been waiting for one of the reviews as well...

yeah... fuck... i should have flipped the front tranny mount upside down. and if/when i do another one im going to stick a sleeve inside of the cross bar. beef that slut up real good.

I have one too that I built from weir. THe only thing I dont like about it is that I have to use a 2" pipe and with the half core i Have to gangster lean the fuck out of it. Compared to like the jk traction bar is made out of square stock so it has alot more crearnce. I could lower the bar but then it will only sit off the ground about 3" and being out in front of the tires like it is i would hit on every speed bump in town.

Speaking of Wier, has anyone seen him here yet?
EDIT: Missed him like two threads down...
-
looks sexy!
-
bookmarked this so I can reference this build mine as soon as I order the parts from WEIR.
-
that fucker is pimp! id rock it
-
How does the radius rod brackets fit against the pipe? is it tight enought to be tiged?
Also what diamiter tube did you use?

you mean from abuse installed in the car, or a little bow from the heat of welding the 1/2" angle on there?
I finally got a minute to drag my sled out of hiding and start dropping the engine in, this was 2nd on the list of 'too do's'

no from being in the car

I'll be ordering one of these sometime soon.
Hey Wier could you do one one of your manifold emblems R HMT with the r clocked slightly and a little over the H?
-
I'd almost say cut a thick flat bar that fits inside the tube, then drill holes to spot-weld it. That would definately help stiffen it up. You could also use that method to notch & plate the area under the radiator to drop it down an inch.
I'm going to miss my EF - the creaks & groans, the spartan interior, the 80's styling, the lack of space to do shit with it. Good times.
-
it only tweaked a bit because of my shitty from tranny mount design. if i used a thicker wall tube it would be fine. or ran a car without a front tranny mount... nothing that would effect performance just make it a cunt to reinstall if i drop it.

can you post a picture of where you mounted the joint on the lca?
-
are you using 1/2in or 3/4in rod ends?
-

Yes.
I like I could use the front mount with it.
Weir - mind selling one for a CRX with a b-swap and mounts for a half rad?
