Times are tough and about to move soon. I'm keeping the 90 hf that had the built motor in it. That will be another thread in a few weeks. PBT Spec Kay twenty four.
Going for a streetable single cam in this bad boy.
Consisting of....
-d15b vtec block with p08's
-Y8 vtec head
-PBT 74mm TB/spacer/im combo
-will send another head for Chris to port. (This will be last on the list)
-crower valvetrain.
-looking to source Akmee cam (probably go crower 3 cam)
-tri-Y sohc header (will get my old buddy to see what he can do) DTR fab
-2.5" exhaust
Hopefully I can break 14's with a sohc. I did it a while back when I had a stock A6 in my old race car body when the 2L gsr was getting built. Ran 14.1 with just a header and cold air. Car gutted to shit with lexan windows and pipes for rear suspension. Lol.

So you weren't kidding about the k24 eh?

If i was to do a another set of diy cycle itb's for a sohc I would use the busa ones. 45mm plates. With a crower stage 2/3 and a good head I dont see why 150 whp cant be achieved on stock 1.5/1.6 bottom ends. Of course you will need to piston to valve check on the stage 3. the stage 2 cleared d15b vtec pistons no problem.
I have a set of busa ones bored out to 48mm plates I did awhile back if I ever did a street 1.6 dohc vtec which these may end up on the b16b. if not they will collect dust with all the other I lost motivation wierdo idea stuff I do. Maybe Ill have them next to the welded d16z6/d16a6 chamber heads to remind me never to throw time/money into a d series all motor build again.
I also have another set of busa's un touched. No flip nog boring out the cycle itb's will not be cheap. Consider my crack head pricing already x4

:?:
-
Well the b16b is planned to get a oem type r manifold cut/ported/welded back together. Composite spacer and a 83mm throttle body. The blowbench will tell me hands down the itb's lose with that setup atleast the cycle itb's.
If I had the luxury of time I would play around with the 48mm units but well thats not the case.
-
In other words boost > n/a
-
In other words boost > n/a
Not for what Im building the red crx si for. Lap times in 110 degree weather on boost=mega dupa overheating.
The b16b will shine out there.
Super awesome video!! (http://vimeo.com/9124449)

The black crx is alive!!!! And loud as fuck!
-
shit is alive.
got the mysterious JDM smoke for a litte bit with tons of blow-by coming out of the valve cover.

vx timing belt?
If you want a lightened oem pulley I have one for you :noel:
-
akmee cams=mia
-
Oh the crower stage 2 ran pretty hard in a stock d15b vtech's. I approve of this choice.
Stage 3 I have not played around with and it seems not to many people have and those who have dont seem to share on the interwebz.

Hey did you leave the y8 cam gear on the y8 head, just wondering cause i put a y7 head on my block with the 88 - 95 cam gear, i heard that the y7/y8 gear advances or retards the cam half a tooth so you had to put on the 88 - 95 cam gear.

If your are using y8 head w/ cam gear use a y8 gear. If you have to use any other gear then use an adjustable timing and adv. it 4.5deg in respect to the cam. (9deg in respect to the crank) ;
D I did the adjustable cam route it was a lot easier.
Look at: http://www.d-series.org/forums/engine-building/41363-y8-cam-w-z6-sprocket-z6-cam-w-y8-sprocket.html (http://www.d-series.org/forums/engine-building/41363-y8-cam-w-z6-sprocket-z6-cam-w-y8-sprocket.html)
Look at first photo attachment.
This thread helped me out.
Knowing that flipnog has done this before he probably knows this already.

Well i know what im doing today hehe im puttin back on the y7 gear hey thanks for the info man, im trying to get this thing done
-
this car actually had my stock a6 block and y8 head in the beginning. i timed it the best that i could. distributor was almost fully advanced at this time. this was with a 88-95 cam gear
i do have the y8 gear on it now and i can leave the distributor around the middle area.
all sohc vtak cams are the same. its keyway indexing thats different on the gears.

someone told me that there is one for the dirty cheap..
NIGGA CALL ME BACK!
-
Gave a few K20's last night and an h22 a run for their money last night. I think I'm going to call this build "the little d15 that could". Lol. Well crower 2 comes in tomorrow and I'm going to get my exhaust hooked back up. Let's see how this thing does soon at the track on the motor.
-
In all honesty. Ive driven totally tired single cams in the past and this block I picked up from Chris is fucking tits. No more JDM start-up smoke or anything. 22" slicks and I should be golden. I will break this car into the low 13's at least. Lets see how it does....
-
Once you get settled into the new house sell some crack and have me work on the head. You know how I roll if Im going to spend time working on a head no half ass stuff. If the car doesnt make atleast 15 whp+ on the dyno with the new head you are allowed to throw it through my crx's window.
-
Deal!!!
-
I got mine going too I call mine the D15 of Fury!, I gave a new 2009 2DR V6 Accord Coupe a run today got him in 2nd
-
so a ported manifold/spacer/74mm tapered throtle body+ crower stage 2=
Crazy vtec.
-
Mad tite vtak yo!!!
But in reality, this fucker scream in vtec like crazy. Sounds like a fuckin DOHC vtec to tell you the truth. The crossover is totally crazy feeling/sounding. I can't say that I've ever heard a SOHC sound like this. Lopey idle as well. Feels like something is up with timing. I know the car has more power in the upper end. May be fucking with the distributor for a little bit of timing advance.
-
need to tune this thing.
-
shit vid. trying to run a boat anchor that didnt want a piece after he heard that vtak. lol

Oh yeah. Getting some bogging going into vtec. Un sure of what's going on. I will be adding a fpr on there as well. Well maybe its because I have a stock header, cat, 2.25" exhaust piping going to a stock muffler. I think that may have something to do with it also. Oh well. Screams for a sohc is all I gotta say.
-
looking good :) :noel:
-
I approve of the use of usps boxes
-
Flip nog bust out the cardboard under the car jeez messy. Then after you can break dance since thats what flips do.

bump for title edit and vtak yo
-
This thread reeks of delicious, greasy flip food.
-
First vid couldnt watch that shit the whole way though. Sounds too fucked up haha. Gotta love open header
-
You faggot. Exhaust is hooked up in both vids. Just had loud music and windows down in the frist one. Stock header, stock cat, 2.25" exhaust piping to a bottleneck aftermarket stock replacement muffler. Lol
-

Open up that exhaust, sir.
-
Debating on mufflers now. I don't want a fart can on it. Any suggestions?
-
24" glasspack mounted in factory rear location with 2.5" piping to slash cut tip Jew cheap
-
I'm not a fan of glasspacks. I was thinking more of a magna flow in the factory location. I would love to see dual tips comming out of my back bumper.
-
I'm almost going to use an ebay cat back.
-
I have a magnaflow dual exit at the shop from a 91 crx I parted out.
-
I like trush turbo mufflers. I got a 2 bolt flange at the rear of my crx just before the muffler so I can go open 2.5 exhuast at will.
-
Thats what both my crx's have not a huge fan
My civic has a rsr old school 2.5 exhaust that is hands down the nicest sounding exhaust on a honda I have ever heard.
Oh Jay Ill have a d16y8 exhaust manifold next weekend too.
-
Cool. Pm me prices sir.
RS*R is bomb shit for crx's. I would actually roll a greddy if I was able to find one.

I had my Greddy SP2 for sale locally for ~3 months. Nobody wanted it. Now it is on my ED hatch with an extended cat section and two extra hangers.
I loved the cheapo Thrush glasspack and Thrush turbo muffler combo until a baffle broke loose. I put the Greddy on the ED bacuase of that and I needed something that would clear a rear sway bar for dodging cones.
-
when are you hitting the dyno flip nog? Chip that p28 yet?
-
Tenzo-R seats are cool :-\
-
i will hit the dyno after i move this weekend. i need to slap that shit on that you got before hand though. its on after that
-
e85 tune
-
That's crazy talk.
-
Jay you better sell me this when you sell it. I need it to complete my collection of Crx's!
