So about a month ago my computer started restarting every two hours and telling me my version of windows isn't genuine. So I install the wga activator and it seemed to work for a few days, then back again with the same shit. A day or so later the other computer starts with the same shit. Strike 1 and 2
I go on vaction and come back to find out Alan Wake has been released. So I download it and rip a copy and pop it in ready to enjoy some electronic entertainment. I'll be damned if I don't get the 1 red light E74 error shit. Tried the penny trick, no luck. Towel trick, no luck. Strike 3.
Fuck M$ and there gay ass products. I just want to enjoy a worry free reliable pirated product, is that so wrong? Now I have to download another copy and visit wal-mart. I should send them a bill for my time.

I got a $30 student copy, I figure I'll be able to install it on 7-8 machines with no problem.

My school gave anyone in the CS system a serial they can use on all their computers for free. I'm not a CS major, but there's nothing to keep me from making an account in the CS labs, so I got a Windows 7 serial, and used it with my pirated copy. Works awesome, that computer had 100% uptime.
-
want to buy another xbox for cheap?
-
use a shelf computers serial number, they're pretty much the same since they are mass distributed.
go to best buy look it up and use it. it should have OEM-xxxblahblahblahnumbersandletters for a serial
validation then becomes a non issue

Yeah that was different. Could give meaning to "she slipped and landed on my dick".
I spent some time downloading the "Windows 7 AIO - Activated Editions x32x64" torrent. I made it bootable with Oscdimg CD/DVD Premastering Utility oscdimg.exe, and was playing with it for a while. No serial, no activation, and any version you want. I was thinking about finally upgrading for DX10/11 visuals in games.

Linux was just a fad, people still use that?
Just joking
I never got too excited about linux though, use it for a bit back in the day like 6 years ago, ran ubuntu on a system while i was in iraq just to mess around, installed it off a thumbdrive on a slicked computer, which was a cool feature i guess.

How cheap?

lol, your n00b ass installed update KB971033 didn't you?
If so, reinstall and never install that update, or look for a patch that un-fails it.
Linux is great for servers but fuck it for a workstation or home PC.

I run it all the time on my laptop, I see nothing wrong with running ubuntu on a home PC. The only time I will boot into windows on this machine is to play a game, use my OBD2 reader, or connect to an HDTV.

Exactly.
Why install an two OSes when you can install one that does everything and works with all hardware?

Touchscreens look cool, but they take more time than a traditional keyboard to use - whether using handwriting recognition, or an onscreen keyboard. When I had the X60 tablet, I used it in tablet mode for three days then the novelty wore off and I used it entirely as a laptop.
-
Well, with the iPad you can buy an accessory that adds a keyboard to your iPad and turns it into a laptop-ish thing!!11
So, pay too much money for a device that is missing basic features like multitasking and being able to use real software, then pay more for a keyboard. I don't get it.

It was on auto update. Looks like I will be doing a fresh install on both PC's. Oh well, all the junk needed to be cleaned anyway.

You can't type worth a damn on most touchscreen phones compared to something like a sidekick, and I am pretty sure I can type faster on the keyboard of my laptop than someone can on an ipad or other tablet. And devices like the iPad are mostly useless for content creation. Excellent for consuming content, but not creating it.
-
Yes, I refuse to buy touchscreen-only phones. I hate typing on anything other than a tactile keyboard.
Swype may be enough to get me to use a touchscreen only keyboard though.

I use to think the same thing till I got the Dare. I can type just as fast on it as I could with my HTC. The only thing is that if you cut your finger nails short you will likely hit a wrong key. I do like the physical keyboard better though as I could type without even looking at the phone which was great for driving.

The Dare is a specific example of a touchscreen only phone I can't stand using. Is my sidekick 3 chunky and old? yes. is it limited in features? yes. is the web browser pretty slow (fast enough for forums though)? yes, Still, best phone for texting and email i've ever used.

I never really liked the sidekicks. Have you used any of the phones from the HTC line? I loved mine, I just refuse to pay $30 for interweb to own another one. I messed around with the Droid at the Verizon store and it was hella nice. Again, I'm not paying for internet to own it.

Worked fine since like Nov, then just recently took a crap. I'm guessing it was in one of the updates.
I didn't install updates, and normally never do. I don't run antivirus, just a firewall (comodo). Never had a *computer* virus. :P
I'm also laughing at you people being milked hundreds of dollars a year for a phone. My sister & her husband just got iphones, and actually had to get a house phone line to keep costs down. Meanwhile they're complaining that their newborn is sucking up all their money.
Profit from sheep is right.

So you go around without a phone? I only use my cell phone, no home phone needed. I don't pay for any extra crap that I don't need either.

Self-centered people shouldn't breed, that's a recipe for an unwanted child right there.
