Post by: Hotrodlincoln on May 13, 2010, 08:16:45 PM
Rumor has it a german vulture capitalist group bought Edelbrock. How many jobs will be lost if they close the foundries?

Have you looked at their books for the last 2-3 years? Its an assumption that they are even making profit these days. If it was sold it was for the simple reason that they are losing money in the modern era. Sell the name before the get too deep in the red and the owners spend the money on trophy wifes and German cars for them.

Sometimes business owners think that way, and that is how their businesses die.

the dirt is on Yellowbullet.com, I haven't checked in since last night.

If Vic Jr. has retired and his offspring don't wanna run it anymore, sell it!!!! His daughter is big into road racing.

Jumping ship after they've sold performer carbs n intakes to every sunday cruiser seems like a smart move to me.  I'm sure performer carb sales have dropped off n aren't going to go up even though they smashed holley's market share...

AFB's are great carbs for most cruisers. I had one on my Jeep back in the day and it was pretty good out of the box. (it was an Edelbrock)

Elderblock going out of business?!!! What??? Now where I'm gonna get me some dirt track engine parts for my chebby tree fiddy? It's got them 4 bolt mains. Chebby knew it was better to have 2 more bolts per main, than improve the quality of casting and nickle content.
Dale Earnhardt is swearing on his mustache now, who's next, Holley? (erry body knows they is better than them quadrabogs)

A certain amount of that is the Hype-R is better than anything mentality.  Lingerfelter originally made his name building two bolt blocks with cast cranks, you know.

Did not know that. But if it were me, I would start with a better platform. Any other comparable GM v8 block was better. Cadillac, Olds, Buick, Pontiac, Chevy. In that order.
