Yamaha R7. Pretty much the baddest mother fucker on the planet in terms of factory bikes. It's an extreme limited production (500 units) bike to homologate for F.I.M. Bike is pretty much a WSBK ride detuned for the streets. ECU tweak/fuel pump and it will make 160's to the tire on good gas. AKA it will still rape a brand new 1000cc bike around a road course and it is more than 10 years old.

You guys are high. I offered $15k lowballin. That shit has been going upwards in value. Is between this, a BMW S1000RR, or possibly the Aprilia RSV4R. We'll see what happens. As far as blowing money, another bike, a trailer, a truck, and I'll still have more than enough left for a house in Feb.

Just saw a 100% bone stock bmw s1000rr put down 216 to the tire last wed. Friends bone stock r1 put down 161 same day. Besides the weird ass lights I'd definitely buy one of the bimmers at like $14k brand new you can't hardly beat it.

Dyno is friendly. Stock BMW's are laying consistent 180s, but not 216. Bone stock put down 182.x on the AMA dyno.
I've got one lined up to take home for a weekend when I get back. Has all the nice electronic doo-dads too. I heard the wheelie control is a bit harsh, but it should be a real fun bike. Only thing that scares me is the $$$ of aftermarket bits. Same deal with the Aprilia though. But the corse catalog has some awesome stuff in it. Really want to see what the MV F4 is like, but that's too pricey for not near the same performance as the other 2 new bikes.

Its stupid to spend $20,000 on a bike that is 10 years old. Sportbike technology changes so rapidly its stupid to buy that old of a bike for performance. Look at the performance difference in any 600cc sportbike from their 2000 models to the 2010, there's no comparision.
I'd buy a leftover 09' and put $10,000 in it. Guarantee it would skullfuck that bike in every way possible

This thing is like a Gnx or an 89 Zr1. You can build something for less money, that is faster, and be able to use it. Low production + low miles = $$$. Look at how much a low mileage '97 hype r goes for(#'s 67 n 69 come to mind).
So yeah, if you're looking for a delicate highdollar paperweight, this is your ticket. I prefer to drive my stuff. I'd also like it to have value because I made it that way, not cause some oem decided to do a slightly peppy, short run of a normal item...

Ummm. I doubt it. An AMA spec 600 motor ain't going to touch it. And at that point your looking at refreshing the motor every weekend. Full Ohlins Forks/Shock=$4-5k, without having it setup. The geometry on the bike is completely different from any street 600. Shortened Deltabox II frame. Oh, let's not forget the wheels, tack on another $2k for that. Yeah go and build something that will perform similar for under $15k without going up to a 1000cc bike. And it's gotta be street legal too. Remember, the R7 is gonna undercut the '09 R1 by 100lbs...
Didn't know a 70% increase over a stock R6 was slightly peppy? Seems like 60ish whp increase on a bike does wonders. I can purchase one of last years' Attack M4 Suzuki GSXR-600 SS bikes for about $14k, but they aren't street legal. This thing with good gas will WALK a modern 1000 on the street, either straight line or twisties.
Like I said, I lowballed at $15k. If he doesn't bite, I'll have an RSV or S1000RR as a street bike. Although Mladin's Yoshimura Suzuki is for sale. But not a street bike.

You can't win honestly. Ride the shit out of that bike and devalue it. Don't buy it, spend the same amount on a run of the mill bike with lots of mods/upgrades, and have it be worth half your investment. In the end, you're left spending $15k and only getting $8-9k when you sell it.
Really, you need $30k. $15k to keep the rare bike in good shape so it holds its value. $15k to build a bike to "squid around town".
The real thing is, if you never plan on selling, none of this becomes an issue. I'm not modifying another car in any meaningful way until I resolve that I'm never going to sell it or when I do sell it, I don't care what I fetch for it.

Fuck that. 90% of the speed of modern sportbikes comes from rider ability. You can't even ride a stock modern 750 to its full potential on the street. And your Henry-ing yourself if you think you get on that bike and all of a sudden your boss nigger.
Anyways, who gives a shit its his money. Go buy a bike that they only made 500 of and ride the shit out of it. Take it to the track every weekend cause I'm sure finding replacement parts for that bike would be very cheap and easy to come by :?: Wise investment if you plan to ride it the way it was designed to be ridden :-\

I won't be able to ride my 636 nearly as hard on the track as Josh Herrin can run his R6, does that mean I shouldn't have bought it? It's not any one aspect that can easily be argued against, Henry. It is the combination of expense, usability, and rarity all lumped together that make you taking and ruining this bike a colossal Henrying of a cool machine, our sensibilities, and your money.

So I should buy an MG TC and an M35 to haul the other bikes around? Expense of the bike is $15k, which is pretty much what a nice 2010 1000cc bike will cost me once everything is setup. Those bikes end up selling for <$10k real quickly, whereas this will be a nice toy to fuck with up in the mountains or the nicer roads around the Dragon and it won't lose it's value unless I wad it up.
Useability of the bike is the exact same as any other streetbike. They are all impractical. The R7 can run regular gas and be just like a Suzuki 750 with a $7k suspension setup. But it'd be a nice dual purpose street/track bike. Moreso than the ZX6R that Hatchdan is picking up. I like the fact that with a change of fuel and an ecu tweak that it will be more than competitive with the HW-SS class bikes.
Alas, probably a pipe dream now that he has shot down the $15k lowball I threw out. Guess that's why the ZX6R has a built motor and track plastics with it. Better investment of $4600.

I bought it becuase it was 3 months old with 1,000 miles for $6,000. You can't pass up a deal like that

Damn that ain't bad at all lol. I paid $4600 for the Kawasaki. Built Supersport legal motor, spare motor, stock suspension (Penske rear is waiting for it), street and track fairings, spare parts out the wazoo, clean title 6700 miles. There's a huge debate whether to register it and sell the track stuff, or keep it as a track bike and part out the street bits. Can't decide, and I won't get to see it until June 13th :(

Nope. Guy wouldn't budge a single dollar off of his $20k asking price. I am buying a Yamaha race bike to fill the void. Used to belong to some guy named Aaron Gobert. Heard he is a pretty fast racer ;) Guess that still makes me a yuppie, but it will be pretty competitive in the classes I want to run next year. It will not be the bike that holds me back.
Wasn't nearly as expensive, and comes with as many spares as the Kawi did, as well as tire warmers, EZ-Up canopy, spare wheels, 2 sets of brand new rain tires, pitbull trailer restraint system, stands, fuel jugs, wheel chocks, etc etc etc.
