Title: Aftermarket ball joints.
Post by: realAgentMurdoc on May 24, 2010, 05:05:10 AM
Anyone have some experience with aftermarket ball joints?  I need to replace mine and I'm very tempted to buy the package ones from ebay since they are flippin' cheap and I can replace a lot more for the price of 2 oem ball joints.

Just seeing if y'all have experience with these cheap ball joints.  Like if they last long and don't fall out.  Hoping these things will be pretty safe as I'm putting this car back together for my girl to drive.  If I was driving the car, I would of tried them already. lol

so hollar you nogs

I've seen the eBay units fail quick on one car, obviously defective, and other kits rock on for a long time.

+1 on Rock Auto, I am a fan.

I have McQuay Norris aftermarket LBJ on my CX for two years now and they work great.

A little pricey but they work. I'm thinking about getting the ebay kit for my DX. ;D

I've been looking at the rockauto ones like those of you suggested, but 30 bucks a pop, double that and I get A arms and such. lol.  man I'm being a cheapass.  lol

I've bought both the whole kit and the upper arm kit.

GREAT shipping, 2 days via UPS.

Make sure to lube the rubber bushings on the UCA or else they will squeak.

The first whole kit, the UCA have replaceable balljoints, didn't look at the second set of arms.

Make sure to use Bing search to get the extra 8% cashback along with the Ebay 2% cashback.

good to hear more positive results from this seller.  His price pretty much cannot be beat.  I'm leaning more towards it now.  How long have you been using your setup?

They look like it, but dollar for dollar verus this kit, this kit wins. lol

i bought a kit on ebay about 3 years ago and had no problems. it was upper control arms with replaceable ball joints, lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rids and sway bar end links.

the upper arms are probably coming out for skunk2's or the like to fix a very minor camber issue with my car and hopefully gain some traction with the caster change(per sewell)

It's just a headsup, if I were you I'd do a couple more price checks and then go eBay too.

HOPEFULLY I can pull the CHUCK card and get free BJ's from Skunkworks.

BTW you saved me from drinking a 12 pack last night, we stood outside BSing so late, hope the neighbors weren't pissed :)

that's why I stick to OEM... well usually.  Even when my car was pretty low borderline slammed, I wouldn't rock a camber kit.  I'll take the camber.  Might be a little ugly or whatnot, but I trusted it more than a camber kit.

Damn saying all that makes me wanna buy oem ones even more now... =/
