Just heard about this: http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/f1-austin-texas-to-host-us-gp/ (http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/f1-austin-texas-to-host-us-gp/)
from 2012 to 2021, fucking A
Now I can go to a F1 race finally and listen to those beautiful engines at full song.         :noel:

There was something mentioned of a large racing complex being built in Mobile AL, but I haven't heard anything recently. Said it'd have a 1/4" strip and courses for nascar (yeaaahhh!!!!!!111111) and the other road course stuff like f1.
I read that about Austin, and am pleased.
-
I was kind of hoping hoping that High Plains Raceway outside of Denver would be considered.
That course so sweet.

about an hour and a half from me. i was talking with the president a few years ago via email, it was to be built by 2011 or some shit but the economy and funding set them back. now they say 2014. AMA had events scheduled, and a few other high end venues. F1 was in the talk at that time I guess.
-
Wow. Just a few hours away. I wonder how hard it will be to get tickets.

In 2012 I will be making a trip to Austin just watch F1. ;D
Since I have 4 or 5 customers for my foundry in Texas,
I could talk my boss in having me visit my customers and pay for my whole trip and maybe even get him to pay for the tickets.
My luck is this US GP in Austin will canceled because they could not finish the track in time.
Just like the USF1 team failed to have a working car buy the start of the season this year. :?:
I can not wait. I want to watch IndyCar but I do not have local channels on my satellite tv and they do not race in Denver anymore.
I need to do a trip to watch Indy 500 at least once in my life.

You need watch a good start of an F1 race and you will change your mind. When a F1 car goes over a car in front of them.
They can fly pretty good, they just can not land worth shit. ;D
A v-8 revved to 18k sounds so fuck sweet and with the right surround sound system can get you hook worse than crack.  :noel:

yea, the start is all that is interesting. it's borring as hell watching them go lap after lap and there isn't a single pass.
-
ugh, why couldn't they pick a real track?
i'm sick of all these herman tilke abortions getting all the race time. there's no elevation changes, no passing zones, no corners that take pure balls to drive fast. why couldn't they run at road atlanta or road america or laguna? a GP track should have some sort of history behind it. america has some pretty awesome road racing venues that are renown throughout the world, we should be using them to showcase a USGP, not building some mickey mouse roller rink.
i went to the USGP at indy twice. it was cool to see modern F1 cars in action, but the track sucked ass. it was way cooler watching the '93 ferraris of alesi and berger screaming through the woods at road america.
-
I agree. Road america would be amazing. I'd fly back home in an instant for that.
-
well i have a closer venue to hope to go to, wanted to go to the montreal race this year but couldnt get tickets in time
-
and on a side note, i just purchased my ticket for the coke 600 today
