today i tried to tune it the car using crome pro 1.5, problem is when i try to make test connection say could not connect to the ecu, port is right , i tried every baud and didnt works (it sets automaticaly to 38400 too), but i connect too ROmulator , i make a test connection and works good, just connect to the ecu, so i can datalog it, cable is a DKU5, and works great with turboedit so im sure it's not the problem.
any help?
D16z6 head with A6 block all stock , T28 turbo. runing P30 ecu chipped of course.

Did you cut:
- J12 for a USDM rectangular ECU
- J4 for a JDM square ECU
?
-
did you cross your fingers while holding a rabbits foot in your left hand?

yes, it's removed J12. idk why it doesnt connect!

You have a USDM rectangular ECU?
-
it's P30 it's rectangular, yes. i know how JDM ecus are.
-
any help? i can't understand cable works ok with ecucontrol and not with crome. :-\ ill try freelog , i hope that be easy for to datalog and works fine!
-
If you know how ECUs are, then why did you cut J12? J12 has nothing to do with datalogging on JDM P30
-
it's not JDM P30 ecu, it's "large" ecu, not just the short one, that's what i meant., code is P30-G00.
-
Make sure the correct com# is selected in Crome as it shows in Device Manager. It is possible Com5 is for your Jetaime/Sybian, not your datalogger, or that Crome is looking for the wrong thing.
Another thing that can fuck things up is sleep/hibernation. My datalogger uses the pl-2303 chip, and it fucks up the connection if send the PC into hibernate or sleep/suspend. You won't get datalogging back til you restart the PC.
-
thx for reply, Com is right, it's 4 one, i even when i connect romulator and nokia, crome shows me both ports bold, 6 port is for romulator and 4 for datalogging cable..
about hubernation, it's impossible since i even reboot the pc when i get this problem and samething happend after it.
-
tried everything and still not works, i get a error sometimes says "Bad response received. Check your settings'" , i tried every baud, not works, port come is right (4)
i even tried to connect with Hyperterm and it connects (only connects, i assume it's enoght)
romualtor works great because i just aajudsted the idle (by eye) so i dont know what the hell happens with this, i dont know about what is parity, i tried some options in data bits, not works, in stop bits ,samethings happeng, im getting crazy because i need to tune my car!
i even tried with freelog , it connects but doesnt show me nothing, just a values and stop it already.

Are you sure your wire are connected to the good pin in the ECU? Switch the RX and TX wire and try again. Check also for the ground.
Post pics of your setup while we're at it...
-
yes, im using non-name ebay nokia cable.
For the no-name eBay sourced cable, the hookup is very simple:
* Strip the black wire and connect it to the shield conductor. Solder this to pin #1 on CN2.
* Strip the white wire and solder it to pin #2 on CN2. This is the RX lead on the cable.
* Strip the blue wire and solder it to pin #4 on CN2. This is the TX lead on the cable.
anyway, ill post some pics in 10 mins of everything.

here are the pics.
ecu works good, not solid cel, etc.
how is chipped.

nokia cable it's good connected, just o soldered the wires to the CN2 plug and that's why it doesnt connect completely but it's good connectec.

checked continuity and it has good continuty, only groud because RX and RT are "isolated" , that's what a guy said me.
i can't find the problem :-\
what do you think?
-
Some cables are powered by the USB bus, others require pin 3 as a voltage supply.
What driver does the Nokia cable use? PL-2302? I stopped having USB-serial/TTL problems when I went FTDI.
-
i used drivers that came with the cable IIRC.
but when i connect cable it appears correctly in Device manager, so what another cable do i have to use for the 3 pin?
what means FTDI?
-
FTDI makes tha majority of USB-serial or USB-ttl converter chips in the world. They have a monopoly, not because there is no competition but because everyone else sucks.
$5 says an FTDI-based datalogging cable (Moates, et al) fixes your problem.
-
i see, well i already ordered the xtreme hulog cable. :-\
thanks JD!
-
That's what I use, you will be happy.
-
Hulogs use 4 wires for CN2 then?
I hope it works because my car needs tunning!!
-
They only use three. You can use the 4-wire cables found in home computers (audio from CD player to motherboard/sound card) but the #3 wire needs to be snipped for it to work.
-
i asked because you said maybe ill need the 3 pin but if Hulog uses the same wires than my nokia cable i dont know how it will be better, well i hope it works when i test it with hulog.
Thanks
