is that a bitch, i have z6 in my 95 and i found a 96 shell in decent condition for $900. i havent bought it, not sure if i will, but is it a total bitch to change?
also been looking the newer 96-2000 hatches too

It's pretty simple, if you can put a z6 into an eg, you can put one in an ek

i have never swapped a engine before, the my 95 is an ex and it came in there. i just wasnt sure if the harness and everything needed to be swapped too

Use the 96 wiring harness, if it exists, and buy an OBD2A-OBD1 jumper to plug your ECU into.
I do not recommend trying to fit your 95 wiring harness into the 96 - that you have to ask about it lets me know you'd be in over your head. I could do it, have done it, but what I'd charge to do it is a bit more than buying another engine harness.

Good luck finding a 96-98 EX engine harness for a decent price. You better plan on doing your own VTAK wiring.

NOTHING IS OVER MY HEAD!!! j/k now that im thinking about it, i might want to leave the harness in my old car, so later i can put another engine in it and sell it as drivable, though i dont know.
nothing solid yet, just somewhat planning it out. id really like 92-95 hatch, there are a few within 250miles that run, but dont look all that great

you will need the 96-00 d series driver side bracket also
Plus figure out what dist you want to run. You can hack up a obd2a d series dist to fit onto the z6 head 2 bolts will line up after some grinding/large washers to mount too if you dont want to do any re pinning of the obd1 dist
You also if the car is a dx/lx/cx convert the iacv to a 2 wire. The d16y7 comes with a 3 wire iacv which is mounted on the throttle body unlike the d16z6 which is on the intake manifold
You also will need the 96+ d series rear transmission bracket d series.

Wow, did someone not realize most of the car wiring is NOT part of on-board diagnostics? My first major rewire was obd0-1 combined with mpfi conversion. The most time consuming part was soldering and, which was juuuust beyond the time needed of finding a decent shielded wire for the added dizzy sensor. Anyone not using a decently constructed jumper is either poor as fuck or is a completely anti-social anthropophobe.

eh, i remember what i was doing. I had a fucked up engine harness, had another harness but it was OBD1. I mapped out the shock tower plugs, not all the way to the ecu. That took a little while and after getting it all done, i found a obd2 harness for 50 bucks so i went the easier route.
