Title: Magazines with real tech were did they go?
Post by: TheMadScientist on June 17, 2010, 10:56:41 PM
Where did all the good magazines go? Turbo and Sport Compact Car early (late 90's early 00's) come to mind.
I found them here:
http://www.motoiq.com/ (http://www.motoiq.com/)

These are the guys that really mad those mags worth checking out. Incluiding my favorite Dave Coleman. If any of you remember reading technobabble in Sport Compact Car, well that's him. Now, he's over there writing.
Check it out not too bad at all.

Its owned by Super Street, but Project Car is pretty good.  I have an issue of it where they did a B16 swap on a car for their boss, then used the D16A6 that came out of the car and put it in a CRX with a budget turbo setup and beat up on the B16 at the track.

Project car is OKAY.
Dave Coleman is the man. If you wanna read some really cool tech read Dave's technobabble. I love it.

That made me lol. A guy I know dyno'd his ITR at 193whp. I walked him on the freeway, only making 189 sohc turbo whp (was breaking up on dyno, added timing after).

The only magazine I care about is the 1989ish Road & Track I have with the first pictures & info on the new "Acura NSX". 3.0L or 3.2L v6 with variable valve timing. MMmmmMMMMmmm. I think in that same mag they gathered all the econo turbo cars, plus a d16a1 rat. The teg beat half of them in all tests.

Its a decent read.  If you want I can try to get some scans of the articles, if I can't find it online.

I pick up a hondatuning mag a couple of times a year, but it still kinda sucks balls. Full race has a few nice hondas but most cars in that mag are pretty medicore. Now its just a bunch of n/a eg's with gay k20 swaps and shaved engine bays with mexican owners
